The Ice Caps will take on the Texas Stars for the AHL championship which gets underway on Sunday. Gordon has bounced around to four different NHL franchises, playing a total of 55 games. The 5'11 forward is proving his worth with St. John's as they chase minor league hockey's most coveted prize.

Andrew Gordon has been called up by Vancouver and he'll play Thursday night.

The Canucks will likely be without three forwards because of recent ailments going into Thursday's game against the Coyotes. Steve Pinizzotto (illness) and Zack Kassian (back) won't play and Chris Higgins is unlikely to after tweaking his back in the morning skate. In addition to Gordon, coach Alain Vigneault indicated he'll probably use a defenseman up front.

Vancouver assigned Andrew Gordon to Chicago of the AHL.

Nothing unexpected here as the Canucks, who acquired Gordon at the deadline from Anaheim, have sent the forward to the minors. Gordon was 2-3-5 in 37 games with the Ducks and 3-5-8 in 19 contests with their AHL affiliate in Syracuse at the time of the deal.

The Anaheim Ducks decided to send Andrew Gordon to the minors after he cleared waivers.

Gordon has five points and a -10 rating in 37 games this season. It's unclear if this might just be a short trip to the AHL to bolster his game or if he might be stuck there for an extended stay.

Andrew Gordon, who went unclaimed on waivers, is still a member of the Anaheim Ducks.

Gordon and new head coach Bruce Boudreau were together in Washington so Boudreau is very familiar with the fourth line winger. "He’s a real positive guy," Gordon said. "He doesn’t want to come in and rag on guys. He doesn’t want to single guys out. He doesn’t want to be negative. A lot of times he will build you up instead of tearing you down and that’s something that I really admire about him as a coach. He’s makes you feel like you can accomplish something every day." Gordon will continue to play on the fourth unit as he saw 6:33 minutes last night versus the Islanders.

Andrew Gordon went unclaimed on waivers.

Gordon hasn't been able to contribute much offensive this season. He's 26 years old, so time is running out for him to earn a permanent spot on an NHL club before he falls victim to the label of a career depth forward.

Andrew Gordon has been put on waivers by the Anaheim Ducks.

When Gordon had no goals and three assists in eight games, Ducks GM Bob Murray said that he was going to give Gordon more time. "Seven or eight games is not fair," Murray said at the time. "You wait until the 20-game mark and say, 'OK, where are we with them and what's going on.'" Fast forward more than two months and Gordon has just five points in 36 games. He's 26 now, so as great as he's been in the AHL, time is running out for him to prove himself in the NHL before the label of veteran depth forward sticks.

The Anaheim Ducks aren't ready to give up on Andrew Gordon and Brandon McMillan.

The duo have combined for no goals and just three assists in the Ducks' first eight games. Anaheim has struggled as a team to score and a lack of offensive from their supporting cast is taking a lot of the blame. That being said, Ducks GM Bob Murray isn't ready to try and make a trade or otherwise give up on players like Gordon and McMillan. "We're going to give them time," Murray said. "Seven or eight games is not fair. You wait until the 20-game mark and say, 'OK, where are we with them and what's going on.'" Gordon has been great at the NHL level, but he had played in just 12 NHL games going into the 2011-12 season.

Andrew Gordon is happy to be on the same team as his favorite player as a kid, Teemu Selanne.

Gordon was seven and in attendance for the game when Selanne set the rookie record for goals scored. Since then Selanne's been Gordon's favorite player and now he'll get to play on the same team as Selanne after signing a two-year contract with the Ducks in the summer. Now 25 years old, Gordon is an extremely accomplished player at the AHL level, having won two Calder Cups and recording 128 points in 129 contests. However, he has played in just 12 NHL games. Gordon is expected to start the season on the Ducks' third line and he'll fight to establish himself as an NHL regular.

Andrew Gordon's two-year contract with the Anaheim Ducks will earn him $525,000 next season at the NHL level and $250,000 at the AHL level.

It will also make him $550,000 for the 2012-13 campaign. Gordon has spent the majority of the past four years in the AHL with Washington's AHL affiliate in Hershey. He appeared in 12 NHL contests with the Capitals over the past three seasons, but managed just two points over that span.
