The Minnesota Wild have added Darryl Sydor to their coaching staff.
New head coach Mike Yeo added Sydor who retired after an 18 year NHL career a year ago. "It's the sign of the times," Sydor said of young staffs as Yeo is only 37. "You see this happening around the league. The biggest thing I liked when I played was communication. Being in those players' shoes and relating to them now from the other side, communication is a big thing." The Wild also kept Darby Hendrickson who was on Todd Richards staff. Sydor had 98 goals and 507 points in 1291 NHL games. Fri, Jul 1, 2011 09:02:00 AM

Darryl Sydor will spend his eighth consecutive game in the press box.

Sydor hasn't had any fantasy value for quite some time and at the age of 37, that's not about to change. He's a depth forward who hasn't scored a goal since March 30th, 2009.

Darryl Sydor will spend his fourth consecutive game in the press box Monday.

Carlo Colaiacovo has been playing well with Erik Johnson, so there hasn't been any room for Sydor in the lineup lately. Sydor has been practicing hard and he probably will work his way back into the Blues' lineup, but he won't have any fantasy value this season.

Darryl Sydor was given Sunday's game off after playing in the Blues' first 14 games of the season.

The Blues were just giving the 37-year-old Sydor a "maintenance day" so he should be fine to play on Tuesday against Vancouver. Sydor has two assists in 14 games this season.

The St. Louis Blues have signed defenseman Darryl Sydor to a one-year contract.

The Blues had brought Sydor into camp on a professional tryout and were sufficiently impressed to give him a contract. Sydor will be a great veteran presence for the Blues young defensemen Erik Johnson and Alex Pietrangelo. No terms were announced.

Darryl Sydor has a good chance to make the St. Louis Blues.

Sydor is on a professional tryout with the Blues. While he has no fantasy value, Sydor will give the Blues blueline a huge boost with his veteran presence. The Blues could use a mentor for their young rearguards like Erik Johnson and Alex Peitrangelo, so don't be surprised if Sydor signs a contract with St. Louis.

Darryl Sydor is listed as probable for Tuesday night's game against the Flames.

Darryl Sydor teamed up with fellow defenseman Matt Niskanen in practice on Monday.

The veteran defenseman had his first practice with the Stars since being acquired in a trade with Pittsburgh on Sunday. Sydor has played with Dallas before and was a regular on the blueline with Sergei Zubov. Sydor has little, if any, fantasy value left, but will be a solid addition to the Dallas defensive corps.

Darryl Sydor is a Dallas Star once more.

The 36-year-old veteran rearguard was traded back to Dallas in exchange for 35-year-old blueliner Philippe Boucher late Saturday night. Sydor was playing sporadically for the Penguins and will likely continue to do so for the Stars. As a result, he remains a very marginal fantasy asset.

Darryl Sydor was a healthy scratch in game one of the playoffs.

Sydor certainly wasn't happy about the situation, but he will likely see some action if the Penguins go on an extended playoff run. Injuries are a normal part of the post-season, as is the coaches decision to bench players for their performance.
