Mark Dekanich has successfully cleared waivers.

Going into the 2011-12 campaign Dekanich was regarded as an interesting sleeper candidate and a potential starting goaltender in the NHL. Unfortunately injuries cost him his big shot and at the age of 26, it's not clear if he'll get another golden opportunity.

The Winnipeg Jets have waived Mark Dekanich.

Dekanich has a 2.80 GAA and .904 save percentage in 16 AHL games, but it wasn't too long ago that he was regarded as a very promising prospect. At the same time, the Jets already have their goaltending situation firmed up with Ondrej Pavelec and Al Montoya.

Jets' prospect Mark Dekanich is really struggling this season in the AHL.

He has a 5-6 record with an .894 save percentage for St. John's. Dekanich has been sitting quite a bit lately in favour of Eddie Pasquele. He will have to do better if he is to beat out Al Montoya for a backup spot in Winnipeg behind starter Ondrej Pavelec.

Mark Dekanich turned aside 28 of 30 shots in St. John's IceCaps' 3-2 victory over the Norfolk Admirals.

Dekanich bounced back nicely after allowing six goals on just 28 shots in Tuesday's 8-7 overtime win against the Portland Pirates. Dekanich will probably get a chance to compete with Al Montoya for the number two spot in Winnipeg once the lockout ends, but he'll be the underdog in that fight.

Mark Dekanich has signed with the AHL's St. John’s IceCaps.

Dekanich was projected to compete with Al Montoya for the backup gig in Winnipeg before the lockout started. He'll probably still get that chance when the lockout ends, but we would be surprised if he ends up winning that fight.

Mark Dekanich has signed with the Winnipeg Jets.

Dekanich will probably battle with Al Montoya for the backup gig during training camp, but he's the underdog in that fight. When the 2011-12 campaign began, it looked like he would end up serving as the Blue Jackets' backup, but his season was ruined by injuries.

Mark Dekanich has undergone surgery on his ankle and will be gone for the season.

This was a lost year for the netminder who entered training camp as the favorite for the backup job in Columbus but a series of injuries, culminating with the latest ankle injury, ruined his season. He should be ready for the start of training camp.

Mark Dekanich is out again with an ankle injury.

Dekanich missed the first month of the season due to an ankle injury, but just as he was getting ready to return, he sustained a groin injury. Dekanich was finally able to make an AHL start on January 7th, but at that point Dekanich had lost his spot on the Blue Jackets roster to Curtis Sanford. As it turns out, that was something of a moot point because Dekanich only played in five games before sustaining his latest injury. He's sidelined indefinitely.

Mark Dekanich made his second rehab AHL start on Friday.

Dekanich coughed up a three-goal lead in the third period. He was initially projected to serve as the Blue Jackets' number two goaltender, but Curtis Sanford has been solid during Dekanich's absence. At this point, we wouldn't be surprised if Dekanich ends up staying in the AHL for the remainder of the 2011-12 campaign.

Mark Dekanich played in an AHL game on Saturday.

Dekanich missed the first half of the season with a hip and then groin injury. At one point, Dekanich was projected to be the Blue Jackets' number two goaltender, but Curtis Sanford might have stolen that role in Dekanich's absence.

Mark Dekanich, who is currently in the minors and dealing with a groin injury, has begun to skate.

Dekanich was on the verge of returning from an ankle injury when he was sent to the minors on a conditioning stint. Unfortunately, he suffered a groin injury during AHL Springfield's pre-game warmups on November 11th and has been sidelined since. At this point, even when Dekanich is healthy enough to play, he's expected to spend weeks in the minors getting back into game shape. The Blue Jackets might feel a greatly reduced sense of urgency now that Curtis Sanford has posted a 1.61 GAA and .941 save percentage in his last eight games.

Mark Dekanich, who is currently in the minors, will potentially miss weeks due to a recently sustained groin injury.

Dekanich was expected to play for AHL Springfield on Friday as part of his conditioning stint. He appeared to be on the cusp of returning from a high ankle sprain when he left the pre-game warm-ups due to this new injury. "It could be 1 week, 2 weeks, 3 or 4 ... we're not sure," Blue Jackets GM Scott Howson said. This is terrible news for the Blue Jackets as their alternative is Steve Mason, who has a 3.88 GAA and .866 save percentage.

Mark Dekanich did not play in AHL Springfield's game on Friday because he strained his groin during the pre-game warmups.

Dekanich is in the minors on a conditioning stint as he gets ready to return from a high ankle sprain. Springfield also plays on Saturday, so if Dekanich's new injury turns out to be minor, he might participate in that contest. We'll keep you posted.

Mark Dekanich (ankle) will play between the pipes for AHL Springfield on Friday.

Dekanich, who is in the minors on a conditioning stint, might be recalled after this contest. Blue Jackets netminder Steve Mason has been struggling mightily, so Dekanich should compete for the starting job.
