Feb 21 - 1:20 PM

Michael Stone's roots with Calgary should make his transition to the Flames easier following Monday's trade.

Though Stone has only played for Arizona at the NHL level, he did spend four seasons with the WHL's Calgary Hitmen. His wife is also a Calgary-native. "It makes things a little bit easier for me and my family," Stone said, regarding the trade. "My wife is from Calgary and has lots of family out there. This way, she has a lot of help. We had twins in September so she’s going to need a lot of it. It’s an ideal situation if that’s the route it was going to go." Stone can become an unrestricted free agent this summer, but given his Calgary connections it wouldn't be surprising to see him re-sign with the Flames if this rental period goes well. He's projected to join T.J. Brodie on the second pairing and get some power play ice time.
