Tyson Strachan played a team-high 23:07 against the Washington Capitals on Saturday night.

Strachan and Tyler Myers were paired against Alex Ovechkin's line for most of the night and the Sabres managed to pull out a win. The 30-year-old is more of a depth defenseman, but he's been forced to play heavy minutes for an inexperienced Buffalo team because of an injury to Josh Gorges. "We want to be playing and we want to play a lot," Strachan said. "We want to be called on in those situations. It’s a great feeling. It’s a tough business and you feel bad for Gorges right now because the team can really use him. ... But while I’m called upon, I’m going to relish playing the minutes and try to battle it out."
