Jason Demers is once again proving to be a decent fantasy depth defenseman.
Demers, who is currently on a four-game scoring streak, is and has been an acceptable source for points and penalty minutes from the blueline. If he is undrafted, you may want to consider claiming him if you are in a deep pool. Nov 4 - 2:08 PM

Jason Demers is on a three-game point streak.

Demers kept that run going with a goal in Arizona's 5-3 loss to Detroit on Tuesday. He's off to a strong start with two goals and six points in 13 contests, but we don't expect him to maintain that point-per-game pace. Look for him to end up in the 25-30 point range.

Jason Demers scored the lone goal for the Coyotes as they dropped a 3-1 contest to the Dallas Stars.

It was Demers' first goal of the season and his first as a member of the Arizona Coyotes, who acquired him in a trade with the Florida Panthers less than a month ago. He now has two points this season. He is a top-four defenseman, but not one that will rack up the points offensively, therefore limiting his fantasy value.
Oct 17 - 11:31 PM

Jason Demers took part in his first Coyotes practice on Wednesday.

Arizona acquired Demers from the Florida Panthers on Sunday in exchange for Jamie McGinn. "It’s nice to get in and meet everybody through training camp and kind of go through the growing pains together," Demers said. "It’s good. I’d rather that than I was traded 20 games in, and it takes a while to kind of mix with everybody. So it’s nice here. Now I can meet everybody and get used to everybody." The plan is for Demers to get a few days to settle in with Arizona before he's inserted into a preseason contest. The Coyotes see him as a top-four defenseman, but it's not clear yet who his defensive partner will be.
Sep 21 - 9:40 AM

The Arizona Coyotes do indeed see Jason Demers as a top-four defenseman, per Coyotes GM John Chayka.

Arizona acquired Demers from Florida in exchange for Jamie McGinn. It's still not clear who Demers will be paired with though. It's also worth noting that while his presence is a nice boost for the Coyotes, he's not a particularly exciting fantasy option in standard leagues. He'll likely record 20-30 points this season.
Sep 17 - 5:59 PM

The Arizona Coyotes have acquired Jason Demers from the Florida Panthers in exchange for Jamie McGinn.

Demers had nine goals and 28 points in 81 contests with Florida in 2016-17. He's got a shot at being a second pairing defenseman with the Coyotes. "We are very pleased to add Jason to our blueline corps," said Coyotes GM John Chayka. "Jason is a skilled right-handed shot defenseman who moves the puck well and has good offensive ability. He will be a great addition to our team." It's worth noting that the Panthers are also retaining 12.5% of Demers' annual $4.5 million cap hit.
Sep 17 - 4:13 PM

Jason Demers was the odd-man out on Florida's protection list for the expansion draft.

The Panthers protected four defenders (Aaron Ekblad, Keith Yandle, Alex Petrovic and Mark Pysyk), but Demers will be available to be selected by the Vegas Golden Knights. However, the Panthers also left Jonathan Marchessault unprotected and he could be targeted because of the value he can bring in the goal-scoring department.

Jason Demers registered a pair of assists in a 4-3 loss to Carolina

It was his sixth multi-point effort of the year. He has produced 25 points along with a personal best nine goals in 72 matches with the Panthers this season.
Mar 22 - 10:51 AM

Jason Demers' empty-net goal with 35 seconds left proved to be the game winner Tuesday night versus Ottawa.

His insurance marker, which made it 6-4 for Florida, proved to be the winner after Derick Brassard scored 22 seconds later. Demers also added an assist in the match to snap his four-game scoring skid. The 28-year-old defender has nine goals and 21 points in 51 games this campaign.
Feb 1 - 10:31 AM

Jason Demers scored the game-winning goal in Wednesday's 2-1 win over the New York Islanders.

Demers netted the final goal of the game at the 1:09 mark of the second period. He's been quite a pickup for the Panthers, as he's already scored eight goals, which is a new career-high for him. Demers finished tonight's game with three shots on goal and two hits in 20:46 of ice time. He's up to 17 points in 43 games this season.
Jan 11 - 10:04 PM

Don't look now but Jason Demers is heating up for the Panthers.

The rugged defender picked up his seventh goal of the season during Thursday's 3-2 overtime loss to the Canadiens. He's now matched his career high, set last season with Dallas. He also has points in three of his last five games with two goals and two helpers in that span. Demers now has 16 points on the year.

Jason Demers scored a goal and an assist in Friday's 4-3 shootout loss to the Detroit Red Wings.

Demers picked up the primary assist on Reilly Smith's power play goal in the first period. His goal in the second frame gave Florida a 2-1 lead at the time. Demers finished the night with a plus-1 rating, two shots on goal and one hit in 18:56 of ice time. He has six goals and nine assists in 2016-17.

Jason Demers picked up a goal and an assist in a 3-1 win over the Colorado Avalanche on Friday.

Although Demers isn't regarded as a high-end offensive defensemen, he's a solid puck mover who can get the puck out of his own end. The two points snapped a five-game pointless streak and give him 12 points in 32 games this season. Considering he is also a minus-2 and has only 14 penalty minutes, he does not hold much fantasy upside. Reilly Smith and Mike Matheson also scored for the Panthers.
Sat, Dec 17, 2016 12:09:00 AM

Jason Demers snapped his nine-game goal drought during Thursday's 2-1 overtime win over the Red Wings.

Demers now has three goals and nine points in 24 games. He has consecutive 20-plus point campaigns, and is well on his way to adding another.
Fri, Dec 2, 2016 01:38:00 AM

Jason Demers scored his first two goals as a Panther in Thursday's 4-2 loss to the San Jose Sharks.

The most disappointing part of this for Florida is that they let a 2-0 lead slip away. Demers opened the scoring at the 5:09 mark of the first period and then added his second just over two minutes later. Unfortunately for the Panthers, they watched as the Sharks scored four unanswered goals. Demers has two multi-point efforts in his last six games and he's collected six points during that stretch. He'll only be a viable fantasy option in deeper leagues.
