The San Jose Sharks will scratch defenseman Jason Demers against the New Jersey Devils on Saturday, instead rolling with Scott Hannan.
Hannan is long beyond the point of being particularly useful in fantasy, so the most interesting facet is Demers sitting. The 26-year-old is coming off of a 34-point season in 2013-14 and has two assists in four games so far. Oct 18 - 12:35 PM

Jason Demers has signed a two-year, $6.8 million contract extension with the San Jose Sharks.

With that, the Sharks and Demers have successfully avoided arbitration ahead of their July 22 hearing date. He's coming off of a breakout season where he scored five goals and 34 points in 75 games. The fact that it's a two-year deal makes a lot of sense for San Jose as it will give Demers a chance to prove that he's capable of continuing to perform at that level before they potentially make a long-term commitment.
Jul 16 - 4:22 PM

Jason Demers has received his arbitration hearing date.

Demers and the Sharks are scheduled to have their hearing on July 22. He earned $1.5 million in 2013-14 and recorded 34 points in 75 contests.
Jul 9 - 5:01 PM

Jason Demers has chosen to sign up for salary arbitration.

He recorded five goals and 34 points in 75 games last campaign, while playing on a one-year deal worth $1.5 million. The Sharks can still reach an agreement with him before his hearing.

Demers missed one game due to the disease. He had an assist and logged 16:58 minutes on Tuesday.

Consider him day-to-day for now. Demers has four goals and 32 points in 69 games this season.
Mar 29 - 2:34 PM

Jason Demers returned to action against Columbus Friday night.

He had missed the Sharks' last three games with a groin muscle pull. Demers looked good in San Jose's 3-2 win Friday as he registered an assist and took three shots on goal in 20:46 of ice time. The Sharks don't play again until after the Olympic break so you have plenty of time to activate him.
Feb 8 - 2:27 AM

Jason Demers (groin) will probably return on Friday.

Demers has missed three straight games. He seemed confident that he would play, but Sharks coach Todd McLellan wouldn't commit to that.
Feb 7 - 4:13 PM

Jason Demers (groin) was on the ice Tuesday.

Demers has been sidelined for two straight games, but he had been playing through this injury for a couple contests before he was finally given some time off. He has three goals and 24 points in 52 contests in 2013-14.
Feb 4 - 5:12 PM

Jason Demers (lower body) will not play on Monday.

Demers has 24 points in 52 games so he makes a good fourth defenseman in deeper pools. This will be the second straight game that Demers has missed. Adjust your lineup accordingly.
Feb 3 - 9:50 AM

Jason Demers was a late scratch on Saturday with a lower body injury.

Demers is having a good season with three goals and 24 points in 52 games as he is also a plus-six for the Sharks. Consider him day-to-day. He makes a nice 4-5 defenseman in deeper pools when healthy.
Feb 2 - 9:27 AM

Jason Demers scored his first goal of the season Saturday.

Demers has a bit of fantasy value in deep leagues as he now has 13 points in 33 games with a plus-three rating and 18 penalty minutes. Just an FYI in case he is on your roster.

Jason Demers has gone five straight games without recording a point.

Demers has 12 assists in 32 contests in 2013-14. He's a solid defenseman for the Sharks, but he doesn't have much fantasy value in standard leagues and we don't expect that to change anytime soon.

Jason Demers has signed a one-year deal with the San Jose Sharks.

He produced three points in 22 games during an injury-plagued season. Demers missed time with wrist, head and ankle ailments, but it didn't sour the Sharks on his potential. "Jason is a highly competitive puck moving defenseman that creates offense from the back end," GM Doug Wilson said in a statement. "We're looking forward to seeing him come back healthy and continue his growth with us."

Jason Demers will be in need of a new contract this summer.

He is eligible for restricted free agency and will probably stay with the Sharks on a short-term deal as a depth blueliner. Demers skated in just 22 games during the lockout-shortened season and he never played more than seven straight games, as he was forced out out as a healthy scratch or due to injury.
