Jason Demers scored his first two goals as a Panther in Thursday's 4-2 loss to the San Jose Sharks.

The most disappointing part of this for Florida is that they let a 2-0 lead slip away. Demers opened the scoring at the 5:09 mark of the first period and then added his second just over two minutes later. Unfortunately for the Panthers, they watched as the Sharks scored four unanswered goals. Demers has two multi-point efforts in his last six games and he's collected six points during that stretch. He'll only be a viable fantasy option in deeper leagues.
Nov 10 - 11:56 PM

Jason Demers has been paired with Michael Matheson at the beginning of the 2016-17 campaign.

"I think that playing with Jason Demers has been huge for me, makes it so much easier for me to go and play with confidence," said Matheson. Demers registered an assist on a goal by Matheson in Tuesday's 4-3 shootout loss to Tampa Bay. The point was the first for Demers after three games in a Panthers uniform.
Oct 20 - 7:54 AM

The Florida Panthers announced that they have signed Jason Demers.

The agreement had already been reported, but now we have confirmation. The Panthers specified that it was a five-year deal, but didn't disclose the financial terms. Based on the original report, Demers will earn $22.5 million over the life of his contract. "We are excited to sign Jason and we are thrilled that he chose Florida," Panthers GM Tom Rowe said. "He will play an integral role on our blue line and will help our transition game and special teams. This is another important signing for us this offseason."
Jul 2 - 1:18 PM

Jason Demers has reportedly agreed to a five-year, $22.5 million deal with the Florida Panthers.

Sportsnet's sources added that Demers took a little less from Florida than he had been offered elsewhere. Demers had seven goals, 23 points, and 72 penalty minutes in 62 games with the Dallas Stars in 2015-16. Combine the Demers' agreement with the Panthers' signing of Keith Yandle and re-signing of Aaron Ekblad, and the Panthers have chosen the three defensemen they hope to lead with for years to come.
Jul 2 - 12:45 PM

The Edmonton Oilers are currently not interested in the services of defenseman Jason Demers.

They were interested earlier in the week but the deal for Adam Larsson gave them the blueliner they needed and thusly Demers is not on their radar at this time. Demers is still an unrestricted free agent and could be off the market as early as Saturday.
Jul 2 - 8:35 AM

Jason Demers is scheduled to visit Edmonton on Tuesday.

The Oilers will try to sell the pending unrestricted free agent defender on the market and the team. Demers is attracting plenty of interest from other clubs too, according to his agent. "Since Saturday [the opening of the UFA speaking window], we've had contact from teams, we've got action," said Demers' agent, Bob Sauve. "He should be in decent demand with [Alex] Goligoski and [Keith] Yandle signing. Jason is a young, right-handed defenseman, and there's good demand for that."
Jun 28 - 3:33 PM

Jason Demers could be re-signed by Dallas at the right price, according to Tim Cowlishaw of the Dallas Morning News.

Cowlishaw thinks the Stars could keep the pending unrestricted free agent, but there's a chance that Demers could walk with Patrik Nemeth, Jamie Oleksiak and Esa Lindell champing at the bit for increased roles.
May 14 - 5:14 PM

Jason Demers is starting to look more like himself again.

He earned two assists in Game 4 and logged 18:49 of ice time. "I thought he played fabulous," coach Lindy Ruff said. "I thought he skated well, defended well. That pair was very good for us. Like I said, coming back from injury, he has struggled at times, but I think that's the player that can really help us be real effective in a playoff series." He returned from a shoulder injury just before the regular season ended and he appears to be getting back into form now.
Apr 22 - 9:17 AM

Jason Demers will return to the Dallas lineup against Nashville Saturday night.

Demers had been sidelined since March 8th with shoulder injury but he is ready to go just in time for the playoffs. Activate him if you need him.
Apr 9 - 11:50 AM

Jason Demers (shoulder) is expected to make his return Saturday.

That will give Demers the chance to shake off the rust before the postseason. He last played on March 8
Apr 8 - 1:57 PM

Jason Demers (shoulder) is eyeing the last game of the regular season to get ready for the playoffs.

"It felt good, really felt good and confident. It was a good first day," Demers said after practicing on Wednesday. "It would be nice to get a game in. It will be trial by fire, for sure." He is recovering faster than his original timetable figured he would.
Apr 7 - 8:42 AM

Jason Demers (shoulder) is getting close to returning to the lineup.

He skated on Wednesday in a no-contact jersey and coach Lindy Ruff is encouraged by Demers' progress. He hasn't played since Mar. 8 because of a shoulder injury.
Apr 6 - 3:10 PM

Jason Demers (shoulder) has started skating again.

"He's skating right now, but limited," coach Lindy Ruff said. "We'll see where he's at when next week starts." Demers suffered a shoulder injury earlier this month, which is expected to sideline him for at least six weeks.
Mar 29 - 11:59 AM

Jason Demers will miss at least six weeks because of a shoulder injury.

Demers was logging 20:54 minutes per game for the Stars, so this is a significant blow for them. Obviously he's not going to come back before the end of the season, so fantasy owners in single season formats should replace him as soon as possible. The question for Dallas though is if Demers will be available at any point during the squad's playoff run. Keep in mind that he will miss at least six weeks, but we don't know if it might be significantly more than that.
