Jason Demers will miss the rest of the season because of an upper-body injury.
Demers generated six goals, 20 points, 37 penalty minutes and 95 shots in 69 games this season. Arizona did not provide much in the way of details, so it's unclear at this time if he will be ready for training camp in 2018-19. Mar 20 - 1:06 PM

Jason Demers picked up a goal with two blocked shots and two hits in Monday's 4-3 overtime loss at Edmonton.

Demers has picked up the pace somewhat, posting two goals with three points across the past six games. But he needs to score more consistently if he is to have fantasy appeal outside of the very deepest pools. Demers is most useful to fantasy owners for his work in the blocked shots (75) and hits (58) categories.

Coyotes coach Rick Tocchet isn't sure when Demers will return, but offered that "he might be quicker than we thought." Demers has missed Arizona's last two games. He has three goals and 16 points in 50 contests.
Feb 6 - 5:01 AM

Feb 1 - 5:18 AM

Jason Demers (upper body) has been moved to the injured reserve list.

It's retroactive to Jan. 25, so Demers can be activated whenever he's healthy. This just frees up a roster spot for Arizona in the meantime.
Jan 31 - 2:15 PM

Jason Demers (upper body) missed Monday's practice.

There was no update on Demers' status after the Coyotes' skate. He sustained the upper-body injury on Jan. 25. The Coyotes won't be playing again until Thursday, so there is still time for him to show signs of recovery before he'll miss a contest.
Jan 30 - 9:20 AM

Jason Demers suffered an upper-body injury in Thursday's game against the Blue Jackets.

Not only did Arizona lose the game by a score of 2-1, but they also lost Demers and Brad Richardson to injury. To make matters worse, the 'Yotes came into the game without Alex Goligoski (illness). Demers is considered day-to-day for now. The team will likely update his status after the All-Star break.
Jan 25 - 11:52 PM

An informal meeting between Jason Demers and Coyotes coach Rick Tocchet seems to have done the defenseman some good.

Demers was pulled aside after Arizona's loss on Dec. 19. "Around the Florida game, we just had a good talk," Demers said. "I talked with him and (Scott), saw some video and (Rick) just kind of asked me what I thought of my game. It was a pretty candid conversation, and I enjoy that. I like being told straight up where I’m sitting and how I’m playing in their eyes." One of the topics brought up is that Tocchet is looking to Demers to be a leader on the squad, which is something Demers has done more of since the meeting. Of course, there was also the issue of his on-ice play and Tocchet is very pleased with the improvement he's seen there as well. Tocchet said Demers was perhaps the team's best defenseman over the last 10 games. Demers isn't a significant offensive force so you won't see a difference in standard leagues. He has three goals and 14 points in 46 games this season.
Jan 18 - 9:17 AM

Jason Demers posted an assist with a plsu-2 rating and a pair of hits in 22:38 of ice time in Tuesday's 3-2 shootout loss against San Jose.

Demers was fired up to face his former squad, as the rearguard had managed just two assists with a minus-11 rating over his past 16 contests. He'll obviously need to do quite a bit more before getting back into the good graces of fantasy owners.
Jan 17 - 12:16 AM

Jason Demers is once again proving to be a decent fantasy depth defenseman.

Demers, who is currently on a four-game scoring streak, is and has been an acceptable source for points and penalty minutes from the blueline. If he is undrafted, you may want to consider claiming him if you are in a deep pool.

Jason Demers is on a three-game point streak.

Demers kept that run going with a goal in Arizona's 5-3 loss to Detroit on Tuesday. He's off to a strong start with two goals and six points in 13 contests, but we don't expect him to maintain that point-per-game pace. Look for him to end up in the 25-30 point range.

Jason Demers scored the lone goal for the Coyotes as they dropped a 3-1 contest to the Dallas Stars.

It was Demers' first goal of the season and his first as a member of the Arizona Coyotes, who acquired him in a trade with the Florida Panthers less than a month ago. He now has two points this season. He is a top-four defenseman, but not one that will rack up the points offensively, therefore limiting his fantasy value.

Jason Demers took part in his first Coyotes practice on Wednesday.

Arizona acquired Demers from the Florida Panthers on Sunday in exchange for Jamie McGinn. "It’s nice to get in and meet everybody through training camp and kind of go through the growing pains together," Demers said. "It’s good. I’d rather that than I was traded 20 games in, and it takes a while to kind of mix with everybody. So it’s nice here. Now I can meet everybody and get used to everybody." The plan is for Demers to get a few days to settle in with Arizona before he's inserted into a preseason contest. The Coyotes see him as a top-four defenseman, but it's not clear yet who his defensive partner will be.
