Matt Beleskey (head) was able to play on Monday.

Beleskey was struck in the head by a shot during Thursday's game and that put his availability for Monday's contest into question. He ended up having a minus-one rating and one shot on goal in 12:02 minutes of ice time.

Matt Beleskey said he was feeling OK after taking a shot to the side of the head on Thursday.

He posted on Twitter: "Doing alright just a scary moment. Thanks for the kind words. Really could have used that assist (though)." The Bruins didn't release anything official on his status, but it sounds like he could be available for Monday's match against Toronto. We'll leave him as day-to-day for now.

Interim coach Bruce Cassidy didn't know the status of Matt Beleskey after Thursday's loss to Edmonton.

He was struck on the right side of the head by a shot from teammate Patrice Bergeron and went off the ice bloody. "He's a hard-nosed kid. Hopefully he's all right," Cassidy said. "That's very unfortunate for him. I don't know what else to say. Hopefully he'll be fine."

Matt Beleskey will be a healthy scratch when the Boston Bruins host the Detroit Red Wings on Wednesday.

Beleskey has dressed only four of the last 10 games. Tonight's game will be his third straight scratch. He won't be lonely though. Joining him in the press box will be John-Michael Liles, Joe Morrow and Peter Cehlarik, replaced by Jimmy Hayes.

He was a healthy scratch last Sunday against San Jose. Tim Schaller will head to the press box versus Anaheim on Wednesday to make room for Beleskey's return. He has contributed just seven points in 33 games this season.

Part of the reason for Matt Beleskey's struggles may be that he is not completely healthy.

At least that's what Boston coach Bruce Cassidy thinks. Beleskey, who has only registered two assists in eight games since coming back from a knee injury that sidelined him for seven weeks, was a healthy scratch Saturday night. Said Cassidy of his choice to sit Beleskey: "That’s part of it. It’s not punishment. With his injury, we’ve got to get him back up to playing speed, playing pace." . . . Bench Beleskey for now if you have not already done so.
