Jamie McBain was a healthy scratch on Tuesday night.

The Hurricanes dressed seven defensemen in the contest, but he wasn't one of them. There's been plenty of speculation that he could be traded before Wednesday's deadline.
Apr 3 - 8:23 AM

Jamie McBain didn't have a good night for the Hurricanes in Tuesday's loss to Winnipeg.

He was beat twice by Jets speedster Evander Kane on a pair of Winnipeg goals. McBain swatted at the puck and knocked it into his own net on one of the plays. He finished the contest with a minus-2 rating and one shot. On the year, he has been pretty reliable though so we'll chalk up Tuesday's game as a rare night off. McBain has six points and a plus-11 rating in 24 appearances this campaign.
Mar 27 - 10:03 AM

Carolina will get Jamie McBain back Thursday night from an upper-body injury.

McBain has sat out the last four games. He has four points and a plus-8 rating in 11 games this campaign, so feel free to dress him if you normally would.
Feb 28 - 1:58 PM

Jamie McBain won't play Thursday due to an upper-body injury.

Consider him day-to-day for now. McBain has played in 11 games this season, while garnering four points and a plus-8 rating. His absence comes at an inopportune time, as he would've received a boost in playing time with Tim Gleason and Joni Pitkanen already out of the lineup because of injuries.
Feb 21 - 3:20 PM

Jamie McBain, who was a healthy scratch Saturday, picked up an assist and registered a team-high six blocked shots in Monday's win versus the Islanders.

In eight games this season McBain has a goal, two assists, a plus-6 rating and 18 blocks. He would have some decent value in deeper leagues if he played more often, but for now he's still a depth option on the team.
Feb 12 - 8:11 AM

Jamie McBain scored Carolina's first goal in the first period this season on Monday night after Boston had jumped out to an early 2-0 lead.

The Hurricanes ended up losing the contest 5-3, but McBain has looked good in three appearances and is making a strong case for himself to see more playing time. He has been a healthy scratch twice this young season, but has two points, six shots and a plus-3 rating when he's been active.
Jan 29 - 6:47 AM

Jamie McBain made his season debut on Thursday and didn't look at all out of place.

He concluded Carolina's 6-3 win over Buffalo with one assist, two shots, two hits, four blocked shots and a plus-2 rating after being a healthy scratch for the team's first two games of the season. McBain played in the place of Joe Corvo, who watched from the press box instead. He certainly played well enough to merit a place in the lineup for Friday's rematch versus the Sabres, but it will be interesting to see who coach Kirk Muller decides to play.
Jan 25 - 7:11 AM

Jamie McBain, who signed a contract to play with the Lahti Pelicans on Thursday, hopes his time in Finland is short.

He will leave on Monday but said "Ideally, I'm only over there a week and I'll come back. Hopefully it's just to get a game or two in and come back". At least we know McBain is an optimist.

Jamie McBain has reportedly agreed to join the Lahti Pelicans in Finland's top league, the SM-liiga.

The Carolina defenseman generated eight goals and 27 points in 76 games last season. McBain will be the second locked-out NHLer to join the Pelicans after the team signed San Jose goaltender Antti Niemi in early October.

The Carolina Hurricanes have confirmed that Jamie McBain's newly inked two-year deal is worth $3.6 million.

McBain will make $1.7 million next season and $1.9 million in 2013-14. That's a pretty good price for a blueliner who got 27 points in 2011-12 and still has some offensive upside. McBain would have become a restricted free agent this summer.

Jamie McBain has agreed to a two-year extension with the Carolina Hurricanes.

Jamie McBain registered an assist in Thursday's game.

McBain has eight goals and 27 points in 75 games, which means he'll probably finish the season a hair below his 2010-11 totals. He's still young and might take a step forward in 2012-13.

Jamie McBain scored the lone Hurricanes goal in a 2-1 shootout loss to Pittsburgh Tuesday.

The goal was McBain's fourth of the season and snaps a four game pointless drought in the process. The young blueliner is worth owning in deep leagues.

Joni Pitkanen, Anthony Stewart,Patrick Dwyer, and Jussi Jokinen each registered an assist for the Hurricanes. Chad LaRose registered four hits, giving him 56 in 28 contests.
