The Toronto Maple Leafs talks with Tyler Bozak are reportedly not going well.
The Maple Leafs inked Mikhail Grabovski to a five-year/$27.5 million deal and it seems like there's some buyers remorse there. Bozak, who is scheduled to become an unrestricted free agent this summer, might be itching for a similar contract, but the Leafs supposedly don't want to go down that road again. If the two sides can't work anything out, Bozak will probably be one of the better centers on the market. Jun 17 - 2:01 PM

Toronto GM Dave Nonis said the team will re-sign Tyler Bozak if the contract makes sense.

Nonis said, "the (salary) cap is going down, and how we allocate our dollars is very important if we're going to remain competitive." Bozak will become an unrestricted free agent in July if a new deal isn't worked out with the Maple Leafs. It was also revealed that he tore his triceps muscle at the end of Game 5 against Boston. The injury was initially reported as a bicep issue. In any event, his "arm injury" will take about four weeks to recover from.

Tyler Bozak won't need surgery for his bicep injury.

According to Leafs vice-president of hockey operations, Dave Poulin, the Toronto center suffered the injury on a faceoff late in Game 5. The ailment kept him out of Games 6 and 7. Bozak is expected to need four weeks to recover. He can become an unrestricted free agent this summer and now that the Leafs' season is over, it is expected that contract talks will resume.

Toronto Maple Leafs assistant GM Claude Loiselle said Tuesday that Tyler Bozak has a bicep injury.

Bozak missed Games 6 and 7 with an upper-body injury. It was thought to be the same shoulder injury that sidelined him late in the season. We still don't know the severity of the bicep injury and it's unclear if the two ailments are related. Unless something is torn, it's hard to imagine Bozak will need surgery, but it's clear now why he couldn't play through the injury.

Tyler Bozak (upper body) reportedly won't be available for Toronto in Game 7 Monday night.

According to TSN's Darren Dreger, Bozak didn't travel with the team to Boston. He took the warmup in Game 6, but he didn't participate fully and doesn't appear to be close to returning.
May 13 - 4:52 PM

Predictably, coach Randy Carlyle chose not to comment on the status of Tyler Bozak for Game 7 on Monday night.

He didn't play Sunday in Game 6 because of an "upper-body injury," which is believed to be his ailing shoulder. Bozak is a valuable faceoff man for the Leafs and he has two points in five games versus Boston in the team's quarterfinal series. We probably won't know if he's playing until close to game time.
May 13 - 1:10 PM

Tyler Bozak was not able to play in Sunday's game against the Bruins due to an upper-body injury.

Given it's the playoffs the Maple Leafs have been even less liberal with injury information, but the belief is it's a recurrence of the shoulder ailment that troubled him toward the end of the regular season. His status for Monday's Game Seven is not yet known, but Joe Colborne will likely step in again should the center be unable to suit up.
May 12 - 10:44 PM

Tyler Bozak netted a shorthanded goal in Toronto's 2-1 victory against Boston.

Clarke MacArthur accounted for the Maple Leafs other goal. James van Riemsdyk had a team-high six shots on goal, but didn't get a point in this contest. Ryan O'Byrne led the Leafs with five blocked shots in 16:31 minutes of playing time. Matt Frattin recorded seven hits, giving him 17 hits in four games.
May 10 - 9:57 PM

Tyler Bozak (shoulder) says he expects to play in Wednesday's Game 1 but taking faceoffs could be an issue.

Bozak missed the Leafs' final two regular-season games with the ailment. While the Leafs need him in the lineup, it's unclear how useful Bozak could be if he can't take draws. Also, if Bozak's shoulder is bad enough to inhibit his ability on faceoffs, there's a question about how much it will affect his shot. Even if Bozak plays, it doesn't sound like he'll be anywhere near 100 percent.
Apr 30 - 1:31 PM

Toronto GM Dave Nonis expects Tyler Bozak to be ready for the Maple Leafs' playoff opener Wednesday night.

He skated with the team during Monday's practice but left early. Bozak has missed the last two games with an upper-body injury that is believed to be a shoulder ailment.

Apr 29 - 5:47 PM

Tyler Bozak (shoulder) skated in full gear prior to Monday's practice.

It was his first time back on the ice since he suffered a suspected shoulder injury against Tampa Bay last Wednesday. However, Mark Zwolinski of the Toronto Star reported that Bozak looked uncomfortable shooting so his status for Wednesday night's playoff opener in Boston should be considered questionable.
Apr 29 - 1:17 PM

Tyler Bozak will likely not be able to play Saturday night against Montreal.

He apparently has a shoulder injury and is listed as day-to-day. Bozak did not skate Saturday morning and we have some serious doubts as to whether he will get the green light to dress. Look for Nazim Kadri to center Phil Kessel and Joffrey Lupul as he did Thursday night against Florida.
Apr 27 - 1:32 PM

Tyler Bozak potted a goal as Toronto topped the Devils 2-1 on Saturday night.

The goal was his 11th of the year. With 24 points, the 27-year-old is performing at a career-best rate in this shortened campaign. Leo Komarov scored the other goal for his second of the season. Mark Fraser, James van Riemsdyk and Cody Franson chipped in with the assists.
Apr 6 - 9:53 PM

Tyler Bozak's name is coming up in trade whispers again, with the NHL trade deadline less than a week away, but he isn't letting it bother him.

"You hear that stuff all the time in this market and it just comes with the territory . . . I think we're playing great as a team now and I want to focus on that," said Bozak, who is eligible to become an unrestricted free agent this summer. "I hope things work out for us and I'd love to stay here (in Toronto)." Clarke MacArthur is another potential UFA, who hockey insiders could be used as trade bait by the Maple Leafs.
Mar 28 - 11:32 AM

Tyler Bozak scored his seventh goal of the season Thursday, but it wasn't enough as Toronto dropped a 3-1 result on home ice to the Penguins.

Bozak opened the scoring in the game as he finished off a pretty passing play from Cody Franson and Phil Kessel in the second period, but the goal was the only one the team could muster against a dangerous Pittsburgh club.
