The Edmonton Oilers’ Jonas Gustavsson gave up three of five goals in Wednesday night’s 5-3 loss to the Vancouver Canucks.
Gustavsson’s 24 games with the Boston Bruins last year showed a lot more promise. He won 11 and had a save percentage of 0.908. Wednesday night, he could save only 0.824 percent of the shots. The netminding duties were shared with Nick Ellis, who gave up one goal. Sep 29 - 1:12 AM

Boston will probably be looking to upgrade their goaltending in the off-season.

Gustavsson can become an unrestricted free agent and could be permitted to walk away after he posted a 2.72 goals-against average and a .908 save percentage in 24 appearances. Jhonas Enroth and Al Montoya might be options on the open market.
Apr 19 - 9:42 AM

Jonas Gustavsson was not up to the task of leading the Bruins into the playoffs on Saturday against the Senators.

Gustavsson stopped just 30 of 34 shots, with a pair of empty net goals at the end, as the Bruins fell 6-1. Interestingly, the Senators did not register a shot on net on special teams while Gustavsson was in. His record ends at 11-8-1 in what was otherwise a sterling season as Tuukka Rask's backup.
Apr 9 - 3:36 PM

Jonas Gustavsson will face Ottawa on Saturday afternoon.

Well, this was unexpected. Gustavsson has lost four of his past five games with a shutout and 13 goals allowed in that span. However over the season he's performed with a .910 save percentage and a 2.65 GAA.
Apr 9 - 12:01 PM

Jonas Gustavsson stopped 10 of 12 shots in relief of Tuukka Rask on Sunday.

Gustavsson entered the game 2:00 into the second period after Rask was beating four time on 22 shots. The Bruins have the luxury of controlling their own destiny. If they win their three remaining games, they will qualify for the post-season. Look for Tuukka Rask to start the final three regular season games for the Bruins.
Apr 3 - 3:28 PM

Jonas Gustavsson laid an egg in Anaheim on Friday.

Gustavsson made just 20 of 24 saves, including both while on the power play, but was fighting the puck all night long. It's his second stinker in three starts, he allowed five goals to Columbus on Feb. 22nd. However he blanked Tampa Bay in between on 42 shots. So we'd chalk this up to the quirks of being a backup netminder. His record drops to 11-6-1 with a .913 save percentage and a 2.61 GAA.
Mar 19 - 1:34 AM

Jonas Gustavsson will face Anaheim on Friday night.

While Gustavsson has certainly been one of the League's best backup netminders this season, he hasn't performed well against the Western conference. He's 3-1-1 in eight games with 21 goals against and an .889 save percentage.
Mar 18 - 9:33 PM

Jonas Gustavsson was the first goalie off the ice following the Bruins' Friday morning skate.

That probably means Gustavsson will start Friday night, but nothing's set in stone. He has a 2.54 GAA and .916 save percentage in 20 contests in 2015-16.
Mar 18 - 3:06 PM

Jonas Gustavsson stopped all 42 shots he faced in Tuesday's 1-0 overtime win over the Tampa Bay Lightning.

The Bruins got a stellar performance from their backup goaltender. The win puts an end to his two-game losing streak. The 31-year-old has an 11-5-1 record with a 2.54 goals-against-average and a .916 save percentage this season. His fantasy upside is non-existent because of the presence of Tuukka Rask.
Mar 8 - 11:42 PM

Jonas Gustavsson will face Tampa Bay on Tuesday night.

Gustavsson stopped 21 of 22 shots for the win over the Lightning earlier in the season. Tack on that he's 7-4-0 with a .921 save percentage and just 24 goals against versus Eastern foes, and you have yourself a potential stealthy win.
Mar 8 - 7:04 PM

Jonas Gustavsson kicked out 29 of 34 shots in a 6-4 loss to Columbus on Monday.

Most of the damage came in the second period when Gustavsson allowed three goals on 15 shots. This game marks the most goals he's allowed in a single contest in 2015-16.
Feb 22 - 10:02 PM

Jonas Gustavsson is likely to start for the Bruins on Monday night.

He was the first netminder off the ice at the morning skate and he is probable to play against Columbus. Gustavsson has a 10-4-1 record this season to go with a 2.53 GAA and a .913 save percentage.
Feb 22 - 11:04 AM

Jonas Gustavsson relieved starter Tuukka Rask during Sunday's 6-5 loss to Detroit.

It was already 5-3 Red Wings when Gustavsson came in just over halfway through the game. The Monster would go on to stop 10 of 11 shots, giving the Bruins a chance to win. Ultimately the one was one too many, as Gustavsson would allow the final goal after Boston tied it. Dropping his record to 10-4-1 on the season.
Feb 14 - 6:22 PM

Jonas Gustavsson stopped 31 of 33 shots in Saturday's 4-2 win over the Wild.

Mike Reilly beat Gustavsson with under a minute remaining in regulation to make the score look more respectable. Gustavsson has a 10-3-1 record with a 2.54 goals-against-average and a .913 save percentage.
