Gustavsson made 31 saves on 33 shots, but the Oilers' offense never got going against a hot Devan Dubnyk. Gustavsson falls to 1-1-1 this year with a 2.00 goals against average and .923 save percentage. Dec 5 - 1:20 AM

Date:

Jonas Gustavsson will face Minnesota on Sunday.

The Monster has been excellent for the Oilers through four games thus far, going 2-1-1 and allowing just five goals against. The Wild aren't known for their ability to fill the net, making Gustavsson an excellent start tonight.
Dec 4 - 1:57 PM

Jonas Gustavsson made 21 saves in a 4-2 loss to the Kings on Thursday.

Tough night for "The Monster" who got in his own way while playing the puck behind his own net on a few occasions. It was just his second start of the season. He's not a fantasy difference maker in the spot he's in right now.
Nov 18 - 2:39 AM

Jonas Gustavsson will be in goal on Thursday night against Los Angeles.

This will be his second start of the season after he stopped 22 of 23 shots against Detroit on Nov. 6.
Nov 17 - 4:03 PM

Jonas Gustavsson made 22 saves on 23 shots to earn his first win of the season on Sunday in a 2-1 win over Detroit.

Gustavsson has made just one appearance this season, making one save in a lopsided loss to Buffalo. He's now 1-0 with a 0.86 goals against average and .958 save percentage this year, but should regress to the 2.65/.910 range once he gets more playing time.
Nov 6 - 9:42 PM

Jonas Gustavsson will get his start with Edmonton on Sunday against Detroit.

The 32-year-old has posted a career .902 save percentage and 2.87 GAA since bursting on to the scene with Toronto in 2009-10. Even with a shallow field in today's week finale, it's tough to recommend him if you're trying to make up ground.
Nov 6 - 1:23 PM

Jonas Gustavsson is presumably over his upper-body injury.

We haven't gotten confirmation of that, but Edmonton has already sent third-string goaltender Laurent Brossoit to the minors. Gustavsson has only made one appearance so far in 2016-17 and hasn't started in a game yet.
Oct 21 - 5:01 PM

Jonas Gustavsson won't be in the lineup for Tuesday's game against Carolina because of a possible concussion.

The Oilers will bring up a goaltender for the match and it's expected to be Laurent Brossoit. Gustavsson was yanked from Sunday's game by concussion spotters after teammate Adam Larsson fell on the netminder's head and back. Cam Talbot had to go back into the game after he was pulled.
Oct 17 - 5:14 PM

The Edmonton Oilers’ Jonas Gustavsson gave up three of five goals in Wednesday night’s 5-3 loss to the Vancouver Canucks.

Gustavsson’s 24 games with the Boston Bruins last year showed a lot more promise. He won 11 and had a save percentage of 0.908. Wednesday night, he could save only 0.824 percent of the shots. The netminding duties were shared with Nick Ellis, who gave up one goal.
Sep 29 - 1:12 AM

Jonas Gustavsson has agreed to a one-year contract with Edmonton worth $800,000.

He posted an 11-9-1 record along with a .908 save percentage and a 2.72 goals-against average with Boston last season. Gustavsson will back up Cam Talbot next campaign as a member of the Oilers.
Jul 1 - 1:19 PM

Boston will probably be looking to upgrade their goaltending in the off-season.

Gustavsson can become an unrestricted free agent and could be permitted to walk away after he posted a 2.72 goals-against average and a .908 save percentage in 24 appearances. Jhonas Enroth and Al Montoya might be options on the open market.
Apr 19 - 9:42 AM

Jonas Gustavsson was not up to the task of leading the Bruins into the playoffs on Saturday against the Senators.

Gustavsson stopped just 30 of 34 shots, with a pair of empty net goals at the end, as the Bruins fell 6-1. Interestingly, the Senators did not register a shot on net on special teams while Gustavsson was in. His record ends at 11-8-1 in what was otherwise a sterling season as Tuukka Rask's backup.
Apr 9 - 3:36 PM

Jonas Gustavsson will face Ottawa on Saturday afternoon.

Well, this was unexpected. Gustavsson has lost four of his past five games with a shutout and 13 goals allowed in that span. However over the season he's performed with a .910 save percentage and a 2.65 GAA.
Apr 9 - 12:01 PM

Jonas Gustavsson stopped 10 of 12 shots in relief of Tuukka Rask on Sunday.

Gustavsson entered the game 2:00 into the second period after Rask was beating four time on 22 shots. The Bruins have the luxury of controlling their own destiny. If they win their three remaining games, they will qualify for the post-season. Look for Tuukka Rask to start the final three regular season games for the Bruins.
Apr 3 - 3:28 PM

Jonas Gustavsson laid an egg in Anaheim on Friday.

Gustavsson made just 20 of 24 saves, including both while on the power play, but was fighting the puck all night long. It's his second stinker in three starts, he allowed five goals to Columbus on Feb. 22nd. However he blanked Tampa Bay in between on 42 shots. So we'd chalk this up to the quirks of being a backup netminder. His record drops to 11-6-1 with a .913 save percentage and a 2.61 GAA.
