Matt Gilroy may re-enter New York's lineup in Game 4 Thursday night.
It doesn't look like Anton Stralman will be available to play after getting injured in Tuesday's 2-1 loss to Boston. Gilroy hasn't played since April 25 and he suited up in just 15 games during the regular season. Roman Hamrlik could be an option as well. May 22 - 2:01 PM

Matt Gilroy won't play Thursday because of the flu.

Coach John Tortorella said he may experiment with Matt Gilroy at forward at some point.

"I think they would come to me and talk to me first," stated Gilroy when asked about the possibility. The defenseman added that he would "definitely" try it out if Tortorella wanted to utilize them there. Gilroy hasn't played yet this season, so he would probably welcome any chance to get into the lineup.
Jan 31 - 11:10 AM

Matt Gilroy has watched the Rangers' first three games from the press box as a healthy scratch.

Matt Gilroy has played well in the AHL thus far enhancing his chances of earning a roster spot with the Rangers when, and if, the NHL resumes.

Matt Gilroy had a helper Friday night in Connecticut's 2-1 win over Portland.

Gilroy reasonably has a chance for a sixth/seventh defenseman role on the Rangers once a season gets underway, so it behooves him to play his best in the AHL. He's already got eight points on the year to go along with 40 shots on goal, but he's also a negative-four, showing he's still not much of a defensive presence.
