T.J. Brennan will get back into Florida's lineup Thursday and he'll face his former Buffalo teammates.

He was a healthy scratch Tuesday night versus Toronto. Brennan has one goal and one assist in five games with the Panthers since being acquired from the Sabres for a fifth-round pick on March 15.

T.J. Brennan made a good first impression with the Florida Panthers on Saturday.

The Panthers got Brennan from the Buffalo Sabres on Friday for a fifth round pick. A day later the 23-year-old blueliner had a goal and a plus-one rating in 23:42 minutes of playing time in Florida's 4-3 loss to the New York Islanders. "He’s still young in that development stage, but he’s got some real upside and we’re excited to get him into our group," Panthers coach Kevin Dineen said. "Obviously, we’ve been decimated by injuries in the first half, so the more depth we have, the better it is for us." Given how much ice time they gave Brennan in his Panthers debut, he's worth keeping an eye on.

The Panthers acquired T.J. Brennan from the Sabres for a fifth-round pick.

The 23-year-old blueliner, Buffalo's second-round pick from the 2007 draft, has played in 21 NHL games in his career (10 this season), getting just two goals. In 36 AHL tilts this season, he has 14 goals and 35 points to go with 57 penalty minutes. "T.J. is a young and mobile defenseman with a hard shot, who we are pleased to have acquired," said general manager Dale Tallon. "He is a hard working player with an offensive upside, who has averaged almost a point-per-game in the American Hockey League this season."

Mar 15 - 7:59 PM

T.J. Brennan netted his first goal of the season in Tuesday's loss to Carolina.

His scored on a Buffalo power play in the third period of a 4-3 defeat. Brennan had a healthy scratch for the past five games. It was his second career goal in 19 NHL appearances and his first in eight contests this year.
Mar 6 - 10:36 AM

T.J. Brennan was a healthy scratch for a fifth straight time Sunday night.

The Sabres have a logjam on the back end, even with two blueliners injured, and Brennan hasn't enjoyed the type of offensive success in the NHL as he did in the AHL.
Mar 4 - 10:27 AM

Buffalo dressed T.J. Brennan on Tuesday night and used him to try to shake up their disappointing power play.

However, the Sabres were unable to score on three opportunities in a 2-1 loss to Winnipeg. Buffalo has gone 2-for-37 with the man advantage over their last 10 games and they currently own the league's 29th ranked power play. Brennan produced 14 goals and 35 points in 36 games this year in AHL Rochester, but he has no points in six NHL appearances.
Feb 20 - 9:46 AM

With the expected return to the lineup by Andrej Sekera, T.J. Brennan could be the odd man out.

He played against Montreal Thursday and received over 14 minutes of ice time but there is a real possibility he could sit in the press box for Saturday night's contest against the Islanders. It is also possible the Sabres could dress seven defensemen and use Brennan exclusively on the power play. If you have Brennan on your fantasy team it makes for a difficult call. He could be a zero or get a few points with the man advantage. Do you feel lucky?
Feb 9 - 9:33 AM

T.J. Brennan will be a healthy scratch for Saturday afternoon's contest against the Canadiens.

Normally this wouldn't be news but it is important as it means that both Tyler Myers and Jordan Leopold will be in the Sabre lineup.
Feb 2 - 12:14 PM

Sabre defenseman T.J. Brennan could draw in against Montreal Saturday afternoon.

He could take the place of either Tyler Myers or Jordan Leopold as both have struggled mightily this season to date. "I’ve got one healthy defenseman [Brennan], and the option is to use him, to buy a little bit of time," Buffalo coach Lindy Ruff said. "We know they [Myers and Leopold] both can play. They struggled. It’s no different that a lot of teams will have a guy struggling, and we’ve got to try to get them through it.There’s different ways of getting through it. Sometimes if you rest them, let them watch a game, it helps them. Sometimes you can let them work their way."Brennan had a considerable amount of success in the AHL during the lockout and bears watching.
Feb 2 - 8:50 AM

T.J. Brennan has served as a healthy scratch for Buffalo's first two games of 2013.

He has to clear waivers to go back down to the minors, so the Sabres are keeping him around for now. Mike Weber is also waiting to make his season debut. The two of them could see action when the Sabres play three games in four nights to close out this week.
Jan 22 - 9:00 AM

The Sabres lost Joe Finley to the waiver wire on Monday, which could make them extra cautious about sending down offensive defenseman T.J. Brennan.

Brennan would also need to clear waivers to return to Rochester of the AHL, where he has generated 14 goals and 35 points in 36 games this year. He arrived at camp Sunday and joins a crowded Buffalo blueline. The Sabres may trade some of their defenders out of town rather than risk using the waiver wire and losing that player for nothing.
Jan 15 - 9:27 AM

T.J. Brennan will probably stay with the Buffalo Sabres following training camp because he has to clear waivers to continue playing in the minors.

He has been enjoying a strong year with Rochester, so he may not make it back down. Brennan has amassed 12 goals and 30 points in 33 games this year and he currently leads the Americans in scoring. The Sabres already have a crowded blueline, so the addition of Brennan would further complicate the mix.
Jan 7 - 11:41 AM

T.J. Brennan has been awarded with the AHL Player of the Week honor for the period ending Dec. 30.

He generated one goal and five assists from the blueline in three games with Rochester to earn the distinction. Brennan produced five of those points in last Wednesday's 7-6 overtime win over Lake Erie. He leads the Americans in scoring with 12 goals and 29 points over 30 matches in 2012-13.

T.J. Brennan has been great offensively this season for Rochester even though he's been held without a point in his past three games.

He has registered nine goals and nine assists for 18 points in 22 games. Brennan is currently fourth among AHL rearguards in scoring and his nine markers ties him for top spot on his team. "Offensively, he's always had that ability," coach Ron Rolston said. "That's a gift of his, his shot, his vision, his ability to make plays and make things happen offensively with his instincts and tools. He's becoming a better defender." Brennan had one goal in 11 appearances with the Buffalo Sabres last season.
