Brian Strait, Matt Donovan, and Eric Boulton will all be healthy scratches on Friday night against the Red Wings.

With Johnny Boychuk and Travis Hamonic making their return, Strait and Donovan will take a seat. Boulton meanwhile is an extra body, but like Strait and Donovan, has no fantasy value.

Brian Strait and Eric Boulton will be healthy scratches Monday versus the Devils.

Strait had played in 19 games on the blue line for the Isles this season, recording two assists and a minus eight rating, but will continue to give way to the youngster, Griffin Reinhart, Monday against New Jersey. Also scratched for the Islanders is tough-guy, Eric Boulton, who’s played in just four games on the season and has nothing to show for.

Brian Strait will be a healthy scratch against the Blackhawks on Saturday night.

Since reaching the NHL in 2010-11, Strait has appeared in just 97 games, all with the Islanders. Which is to say he lacks much fantasy value even in the deepest of pools.

Brian Strait scored his first goal of the season on Friday.

It was also the defenseman's first NHL goal of his career. Strait missed over seven weeks with an upper body injury and has three points in four games since his return. We would pass on Strait in pools at this time.

Brian Strait's fellow defenseman and former Islanders captain, Mark Streit is now a Philadelphia Flyer, and he says the former captain will be missed.

"Obviously when you lose your captain it's a big piece of the puzzle that's missing," Strait said. "I think a lot of the chemistry is going to be there still. It's going to be tough to replace Mark, but hopefully it works out." With the added pressure looming, Strait said it's important for the Isles to get back to how they were playing during a strong final month last season (8-1-4)."We've just got to stay level-headed and work toward our goal," Strait said. "Ultimately our goal is to win hockey games and make the playoffs and have fun doing it."
