Brian Strait scored a goal and registered an assist in a 6-4 loss on Saturday.

Strait has three goals and eight points in 27 games this season. As you might have guessed, we don't expect him to have much fantasy value for the rest of the season.

Brian Strait scored his first goal of the season on Friday.

It was also the defenseman's first NHL goal of his career. Strait missed over seven weeks with an upper body injury and has three points in four games since his return. We would pass on Strait in pools at this time.

Brian Strait's upper body injury is believed to be related to his back.

Strait has started doing off-ice exercises, but it would be surprising if he returned in the near future. He has an assist in nine games this season.

Brian Strait's fellow defenseman and former Islanders captain, Mark Streit is now a Philadelphia Flyer, and he says the former captain will be missed.

"Obviously when you lose your captain it's a big piece of the puzzle that's missing," Strait said. "I think a lot of the chemistry is going to be there still. It's going to be tough to replace Mark, but hopefully it works out." With the added pressure looming, Strait said it's important for the Isles to get back to how they were playing during a strong final month last season (8-1-4)."We've just got to stay level-headed and work toward our goal," Strait said. "Ultimately our goal is to win hockey games and make the playoffs and have fun doing it."

Brian Strait said his main goal for this season is to stay healthy.

Strait has played in parts of three NHL seasons but has yet to play a full campaign due to injuries, which is something he plans to correct this year. "I want to be healthy the whole season, but sometimes like last year it's out of your control," Strait said. "I feel if I can stay healthy, then I can be very productive for the team and will help accomplish our team goals."

Brian Strait potted his first career playoff goal to open the scoring Tuesday in New York's 6-4 Game 4 victory.

Scoring against the Pittsburgh Penguins must've felt great for him after he was waived by the club prior to the season. Strait also has nine hits and four blocks in four games in the series.

Defenseman Brian Strait has a number of reasons he would like to prove his worth to the Islanders in their opening round playoff series with the Penguins.

Not only was Strait waived by the Penguins prior to the season, adding some extra motivation for him, but the rugged blueliner would like to show he belongs as an NHL regular, which he has become for the first time in his career. In order to maximize his effectiveness, Strait understands he may need to get under the skin of his opponents. "I'm on top of my game when I play physical," Strait said. "If that makes me a target, so be it. If they're more worried about me than our skill guys, I don't know what to tell you."

Brian Strait (ankle) isn't too far from returning.

Strait should be able to play before the regular season ends. He has four assists in 15 games this season.

Brian Strait was back on the ice with his teammates Saturday morning after suffering a broken left ankle back in February.

Strait might not play again this season but he said he's progressing smoothly from a broken left ankle injury. "I'm pretty confident it'll be sooner rather than later," Strait said. "It's been real positive to see how the ankle's getting back into shape." In either case, Streit has limited fantasy value.
