Brayden Schenn isn't discouraged by his lack of significant progress in his sophomore season.
"It's been a little inconsistency, but at the same time, I think I've made strides," he said. "I'm still a young player in this league and still learning. The more experience you get, the more you learn from the older players on the team, and it's only going to help you." Schenn had 12 goals and 18 points in 54 games last season and he tallied eight markers and 26 points in 47 contests this past campaign. He did manage to finish third among the team in hits with 109, so he has the potential to develop into a solid rough and tumble forward. Apr 30 - 10:27 AM

Brayden Schenn scored the opening goal of the game in Philadelphia's 4-2 win over the Rangers Tuesday night.

The marker was his first in his last six contests. During the 2013 season, Schenn has notched eight goals and 24 points in 42 matches. His point total is more than he had last year, but it's still not up to the expectations of his talent.

Brayden Schenn ended a long goalless drought Thursday as the Flyers topped Toronto by a score of 5-3.

The younger Schenn brother counted his seventh goal of the campaign in the second period, ending a stretch of 17 games without a tally. Big brother Luke also scored for the Flyers in the win, as did Jay Rosehill, Simon Gagne and Jakub Voracek.
Apr 4 - 10:05 PM

The Flyers are in dire need of getting their centers on track.

Beyond Claude Giroux, their centers have been struggling, big-time. Danny Briere (13 games), Brayden Schenn (10 games), Sean Couturier (22 games) and center/winger Ruslan Fedotenko (25 games) are all in big goal-scoring droughts. "We need to win games and get going on a roll here before time cuts us short," coach Peter Laviolette said.
Mar 23 - 10:20 AM

Brayden Schenn has gone seven straight games without recording a point.

During that span, he has also posted an abysmal minus-9 rating. Schenn has found the back of the net in 10 consecutive contests as well. He was great for most of February before heading into this tailspin, so there is hope that he can find his way out of it.
Mar 20 - 11:38 AM

Brayden Schenn has picked up at least one point in 12 of his past 16 games.

He has helped provide the Flyers with some secondary scoring, while playing on a line with Daniel Briere and Wayne Simmonds. Schenn leads the Flyers' forward corps with a plus-4 rating and he ranks third on the team with 13 assists after 22 contests.
Mar 5 - 9:46 AM

Brayden Schenn scored two goals and registered an assist in Philadelphia's 5-3 win on Saturday.

Claude Giroux netted his sixth goal and recorded his 12th assist of the season. Zac Rinaldo scored his second goal in 16 contests in 2013. Jakub Voracek recorded three assists, giving him 22 points in 20 games. Kimmo Timonen assisted on two of Philadelphia's five goals.
Feb 23 - 3:57 PM

Brayden Schenn has developed some chemistry with Jakub Vorcek on the team's third line.

"We have a little chemistry going and know where we're going to be in the offensive zone, and I think it's a big advantage," said Voracek. "Both [of his linemates] are big bodies, and I got a little more room." Schenn and Voracek have been joined by Tye McGinn for two of the past three games. The trio combined for two goals and two assists in Tuesday's win over Winnipeg.
Feb 14 - 10:47 AM

Brayden Schenn tallied a goal and two assists in Philadelphia's 4-3 overtime win over Carolina Saturday.

Schenn got off to a tough start but he is starting to come on now offensively with six points in his last five games. Jakub Voracek notched a goal and a helper against the Hurricanes, while Daniel Briere netted the game-winning marker.
Feb 9 - 4:19 PM

Brayden Schenn netted a goal but it wasn't enough as the Flyers lost to the Capitals on Friday night 3-2.

Schenn has sputtered to start this season, with just a goal and two assists. He has the talent to be a fantasy contributor, but as with any young player, remains risky because of inconsistencies that lead to ice-time fluctuations. Bruno Gervais also scored in the loss. Kurtis Foster, Tye McGinn, Danny Briere and Matt Read had the helpers.

Brayden Schenn was reinstated from his suspension on Saturday January 26.

Jan 27 - 3:04 AM

Brayden Schenn has been suspended for one game for charging New Jersey Devils defenseman Anton Volchenkov.

The incident occurred at 12:37 mark of the second period on Tuesday night and no penalty was called on the play. Schenn will forfeit $4,702.70 and he will be eligible to return on Saturday, Jan. 26 against the Florida Panthers.

Brayden Schenn will have a disciplinary hearing Wednesday afternoon for a hit he laid on New Jersey's Anton Volchenkov.

Schenn appeared to leave his feet to deliver the hit to the Devils defenseman in the second period, but no penalty was called on the play.
Jan 23 - 11:59 AM

Brayden Schenn wants to remain with Claude Giroux and Scott Hartnell when the Flyers open the regular season and he hopes to stay there for the balance of the year.

"I want to go in there and win that spot and hopefully stay there," Schenn said after Monday's practice. "It's an opportunity to play with one of the top players in the league, and Hartnell is coming off a great year. For me, I'm just trying to blend in and find chemistry as quick as possible and hopefully step up and fill that role." He has seen some time at right wing with AHL Adirondack this campaign, but has spent most of his career as a center. Schenn played great in the minors during the lockout and he appears to be poised for a more productive sophomore campaign despite the shortened schedule.

Reports out of Philadelphia indicate Brayden Schenn could play the wing alongside Claude Giroux on the Flyers top line when the season opens.

Initially thought to be the second line center, the club apparently would like to see the youngster play with one of the league's top playmakers on the team' top unit. No matter where he ends up, the fact that Schenn's ice time is set to increase considerably is the biggest reason he's a fantastic sleeper entering the shortened season.
