Magnus Paajarvi made positive strides in 2013 to get back to becoming a regular on Edmonton's roster.
In 42 games during the lockout-shortened campaign, he recorded nine goals and 16 points. Coach Ralph Krueger praised Paajarvi for consistently driving to the opponent's goal with speed. If he starts to capitalize on those chances then there's a chance that he could skate in the Oilers' top-six group. However, he is probably better suited for a third-line role. Paajarvi spent a sizable chunk of the 2011-12 season in the minors, but he appears to be getting back on track. May 30 - 3:21 PM

Magnus Paajarvi (foot) could play Wednesday night, according to coach Ralph Krueger.

Paajarvi missed Monday's game as a result of the injury. He's taken a big step forward this season but still remains on the periphery for fantasy consideration. Paajarvi has nine goals and 14 points in 39 games this season.

Paajarvi has eight goals and 11 points in 33 games this season. Nail Yakupov and Sam Gagner assisted on Paajarvi's goal.
Apr 6 - 7:08 PM

Magnus Paavarji has been impressing his coach Ralph Krueger.

Paajarvi's game has taken a huge step forward this season and he had five goals and eight points in 14 games and had plenty of chances as he is good at crashing the net. "Nobody's been in the blue-paint more than him after watching the overhead videos," said Krueger. "He's around the net. He stops, he sticks, he looks for opportunities. He's been a leader of this group, making other players better, because his success has come from simple habits." Paajarvi is still only 21 so he is someone to target in pools over the next few years.
Apr 1 - 9:20 AM

Magnus Paajarvi is starting to show signs of his offensive potential of late.

Paajarvi has four goals and six points in his last eight games and now has six goals and eight points in 23 games. The speedy forward is only 21 but it seems that he has been around for a long time. He is moving up the depth charts on the Oilers and could finally be worth looking at in deeper pools.
Mar 18 - 8:23 AM

The Edmonton Oilers failed to get a shot on goal in the second period Monday.

Magnus Paajarvi led the Oilers with four shots on goal during the game but none were in the second as the Wild outshot the Oilers 18-0 in the middle stanza.
Mar 4 - 9:01 AM

Magnus Paajarvi was the unexpected hero Saturday, as he scored the game-winning goal in a 6-4 defeat of the Avalanche.

Paajarvi wasn't expected to dress for the game, but was inserted at the last minute to replace Lennart Petrell, who was injured during the pre-game warmup. Coach Ralph Krueger praised the youngster's ability to step up when necessary, saying "(Paajarvi) was probably eating hotdogs when we pulled him in. He didn’t even have a warm-up and he scored the winner. So many storylines ... two points is all we get for this game, but we’re getting a lot more in our history to take forward with us." Paajarvi skated for just 9:56, but his goal with under two minutes to play broke a 4-4 tie and lifted Edmonton to victory.
Feb 17 - 10:11 AM

Magnus Paajarvi scored his first goal of the season Sunday in a 3-1 win over Columbus.

Paajarvi's shorthanded goal was the game winner and it was his first NHL goal this season. "It was nice to get a goal, especially on the penalty kill," said Paajarvi. "We didn't get a lot of offense, they shut us down pretty well. It was all about character in this game for sure." Paajarvi was selected 10th overall in the 2009 Draft and the highly regarded prospect seems to have stagnated. He needs time on a scoring line and he may not get that chance with the young Oilers.
Feb 11 - 8:47 AM

The Edmonton Oilers have recalled Magnus Paajarvi from the minors.

Paajarvi was sent down on Jan. 31 and recalled Sunday. He was the 10th overall pick in the 2009 Draft and while he has all the makings of a great power forward, he has not been able to make the jump and stick in the NHL. He needs to be on a scoring line and since the Oilers have so much talent up front, Paajarvi may need a trade out of town to fulfill his promise.
Feb 4 - 9:34 AM

The Oilers have demoted Magnus Paajarvi to the minors.

With Shawn Horcoff (neck) injured, Edmonton made the decision to bring up Anton Lander and send down Paajarvi. The 10th overall pick in the 2009 draft had been averaging just over 10 minutes of ice time after five games as a member of the Oilers. He didn't record a point and had a minus-3 rating. Paajarvi is only 21 years of age but right now it's hard to envision him making any kind of impact in Edmonton.
Jan 31 - 5:31 PM

Magnus Paajarvi will get into the lineup Tuesday in place of Ben Eager, whose eye is swollen following a fight during Sunday's game against Vancouver.

Paajarvi will finally see the ice after being a healthy scratch in Sunday's season opener. The former 10th overall pick in 2009 has a lot to prove but at 21 still has some time left. He's not worth watching for fantasy purposes for the time being.
Jan 22 - 2:00 PM

Magnus Paajarvi was a healthy scratch on Sunday.

Paajarvi made the squad after playing in Oklahoma City this year with fellow Oilers Taylor Hall, Ryan Nugent-Hopkins, Jordan Eberle and Justin Schultz. Paajarvi had four goals and 20 points in 36 games. He has been a disappointment since being drafted 10th overall in the 2009 Draft but he is still only 21 and sometimes it takes players a little while longer to produce, especially when coming over from Europe.
Jan 22 - 9:15 AM

The Edmonton Oilers attempt to call up Magnus Paajarvi has failed.

Teams can only make four call ups from their AHL squad after the trade deadline, not including emergency recalls. The Oilers have already done their four call ups, so they weren't in a position to add Paajarvi to their roster. This is obviously an embarrassing event for the Oilers front office and it means that Paajarvi will be denied the opportunity to get a bit of extra NHL experience before the season ends.
