Expect to see more points in the future from Oliver Ekman-Larsson.
Ekman-Larsson has been a slow starter during his NHL career and while he saw a three game points streak snap on Saturday, he still has two goals and 11 points in nine games. "I’m always a slow starter for a little bit," Ekman-Larsson said. "I’ve been like that for eight years now. I’m used to it, but at the same time it’s getting used to the system that’s new this year. I’m feeling pretty good, actually. But obviously I need to be better." Nov 12 - 6:28 AM

Oliver Ekman-Larsson registered an assist in a 3-1 loss to the Pittsburgh Penguins on Tuesday night.

Ekman-Larsson assisted on the Coyotes' lone goal on Tuesday evening, Tobias Rieder's third period goal. It wasn't enough as the Penguins scored thrice against Arizona. Ekman-Larsson has 10 points in 17 games this season.

There have been no trade discussions involving Oliver Ekman-Larsson, per Coyotes GM John Chayka.

Chayka was rejecting the trade rumors that have come up regarding Ekman-Larsson. Arizona is off to a terrible start, so trade rumors are a natural consequence of that, but it still doesn't mean that the star blueliner will be traded. He's got a season left on his contract after this one, so there is no urgency to move him even if Arizona doesn't end up competing for a playoff spot in 2017-18.

Oliver Ekman-Larsson is OK to play Monday night at Philadelphia.

Ekman-Larsson passed his concussion tests after he left Saturday's game late in the third period against New Jersey. OEL has registered six points in 11 games this season.
Oct 30 - 2:29 PM

Oliver Ekman-Larsson left Saturday's game late in the third period after taking a hit from Blake Coleman.

Ekman-Larsson went through concussion protocol and although coach Rick Tocchet said after the game he thought OEL was fine, we will take a wait-and-see approach. Ekman-Larsson has a goal and six points in 11 games with a horrid minus-12 rating.
Oct 29 - 8:00 AM

Oliver Ekman-Larsson potted his first goal of the season Saturday.

It came in a 6-2 loss to Boston as the Coyotes are winless in their first five games at 0-4-1. Ekman-Larsson had 12 goals last season after a couple of back-to-back 20 goal seasons but look for the Swede to return to near the top of defensemen goals as he played most of last season with a broken thumb. His goal was on the power play.
Oct 15 - 7:22 AM

We would be shocked if Oliver Ekman-Larsson didn't have a bounce-back season in 2017-18.

OEL had a terrible year in 2016-17. His mother passed away after a long battle with cancer and he had a thumb injury that he tried to play through for a number of months. That depressed his scoring totals to 12 goals and 39 points. Although he is dealing with a bit of a knee injury, we expect Ekman-Larsson to have a much better season in 2017-18 and would not be at all surprised if he once again hit the 50-point mark.
Oct 7 - 12:25 PM

Oliver Ekman-Larsson (knee) will be available for Thursday's season opener.

Ekman-Larsson will be wearing a knee brace. "I’m feeling good," Ekman-Larsson said. "Excited to be back on the ice. Got scared there for a couple days, but it wasn’t anything too serious so I can play through it. It’s going to be fun to be back and playing games again." Naturally his availability is great news for the Coyotes. He had 12 goals and 39 points in 79 contests last season.
Oct 5 - 9:59 AM

Oliver Ekman-Larsson (knee) was on the ice again Sunday with his teammates.

It looks as though Ekman-Larsson will be ready to go for the opener Thursday after he was injured nine days ago when he was helped off the ice in a game against San Jose. OEL should get 20 goals and 45-50 points in a healthy season and be one of the top offensive defensemen (especially in the goals category) in the NHL.
Oct 2 - 7:39 AM

Oliver Ekman-Larsson (knee) participated in practice on Friday and is getting close to a return.

There is no guarantee that OEL will be available for the opener on Thursday as he partook in some drills before leaving the ice early but coach Rick Tocchet thought the progression of Ekman-Larsson was good enough to think about the possibility of his return. "He needs a few more of those kind of practices, pushing and shoving," coach Rick Tocchet said. "So we'll see how he goes." Ekman-Larsson should get 20 goals and 50 points if he is able to play a healthy full season.
Oct 1 - 6:05 AM

Oliver Ekman-Larsson (knee) was on the ice for about 35 minutes on Thursday.

Ekman-Larsson spent that time working with Coyotes assistant coach Scott Allen. That went well, so the plan is to have him join the team's morning skate on Friday, but he might not stay on for the full practice.
Sep 29 - 4:16 AM

Oliver Ekman-Larsson (knee) has not been ruled out of the opener.

That's great news for Arizona fans and poolies as OEL was helped off the ice after his injury Saturday and it did not look good. "Obviously, we dodged a bullet on this one," coach Rick Tocchet said. "He’s a big part of our team. It’s nice to know he’s not going to be out long." Look for Ekman-Larsson to get 20 goals and 50 points if he can stay healthy this season. Draft him accordingly.
Sep 25 - 6:38 AM

Oliver Ekman-Larsson is listed as day-to-day with a knee knjury.

The good news is that no structural damage was found to his knee. Ekman-Larsson didn't practice Sunday, but he was scheduled to have a maintenance day anyway. He was hurt in Saturday's exhibition game against San Jose.
Sep 24 - 3:23 PM

Oliver Ekman-Larsson suffered a lower-body injury in Saturday's 5-4 loss to the Sharks and did not return.

Ekman-Larsson will be re-evaluated on Sunday but any down time will certainly hurt the Coyotes as Ekman-Larsson is their top player and by far their best blueliner. Ekman-Larsson needed help getting off the ice and that is never a good sign. Ekman-Larsson is capable of 20-plus goals and 50-55 points in a healthy season but this certainly won't help. Stay tuned as OEL was slated for a day off on Sunday anyway.
Sep 24 - 5:15 AM

Oliver Ekman-Larsson would be honored to wear the "C" for Arizona going forward.

The Coyotes are looking for a new captain because they parted ways with Shane Doan this offseason. "That would be a huge honor," Ekman-Larsson said. "I didn't dream of that when I was a kid. It was a long, long way from that. It would be unbelievable." Although nothing is confirmed, making Ekman-Larsson the captain should be an easy decision for the Coyotes.
