Oliver Ekman-Larsson already appears to be atop his game.
Ekman-Larsson, who led all defensemen with 23 goals last season, may not have scored in Friday's 3-0 loss to San Jose, but he did lead all skaters with six shots on net and his team with 22:26 of ice time. Which includes 6:42 spent on the power play. He's already proven he can score in a caustic environment, playing and shooting that much can only lead towards good things for fantasy owners. Oliver Ekman-Larsson isn't happy with the city of Glendale because of the breaking of the lease agreement between the city and the Coyotes.

"We’ve been through so much the past couple of years, and now this happens. It’s disappointing and extremely frustrating that we have to go through something like this again." The future of the Coyotes in Arizona has to be questioned at the least, but it appears as though ownership is committed to keeping the team in Arizona.

The 23 goals scored by Oliver Ekman-Larsson tied a franchise record for most goals in a season by a defenseman.

Phil Housley turned the trick twice in the early 90's when the franchise was in Winnipeg. OEL led the team in points with 43 and will look to get an infusion of scoring help next season when Max Domi, Anthony Duclair and hopefully either Connor McDavid or Jack Eichel are with the club.
Apr 13 - 5:29 AM

Oliver Ekman-Larsson remains optimistic about the Arizona Coyotes despite their disastrous season.

With a 5-0 loss to Vancouver on Thursday, the Coyotes are now 24-49-8 this season. "I don't think we're that bad," Ekman-Larsson said. "We just have to work on some things, and I'm already excited for next season." Arizona really has been awful this season, but there are at least some reasons for Ekman-Larsson to be excited. Arizona has some really good prospects on the way as well as some talented youngsters already with the team, including Ekman-Larsson. Combine that with whoever they draft in the 2015 NHL Entry Draft - they still have a chance of finishing 30th overall - and it's not hard to see a light at the end of the tunnel.
Apr 10 - 9:00 AM

Oliver Ekman-Larsson tied a franchise record with his 23rd goal of the season.

OEL tied the mark for defensemen set by Phil Housley when the franchise was still in Winnipeg. "I've been saying for a while and everyone has that he's a special player, and I really don't think there's too many people in the league I'd trade him for," captain Shane Doan said. "He's our best offensive player. He's our best defensive player. He's special, and it's disappointing he doesn't get the talk nationally that he deserves. What he's doing this year, obviously, it speaks for itself." Doan is right as Ekman-Larsson is one of the top blueliners in the NHL.

The 23-year-old now has 20 goals and 36 points in 73 games this season. He has been one of the few bright spots for Arizona this season. He becomes the first player in franchise history to reach the 20-goal mark since Phil Housley and Fredrik Olausson did so for the Winnipeg Jets in 1991-92.
Mar 22 - 10:50 PM
