Nazem Kadri has lost his spot on the Leafs' second power-play unit, based on Tuesday's practice.
Kadri had 18 power-play points in 2013-14, but he hasn't recorded a point with the man advantage this season. That's part of the reason he's struggled this season with just nine points in 21 contests. Nov 25 - 12:11 PM

Nazem Kadri scored a goal for the Maple Leafs, but it was far from enough as the team fell to Nashville by a score of 9-2.

Kadri's goal came long after the outcome of the game had been decided since the Predators held an 8-0 advantage before Toronto got on the board. Despite the lopsided final score, Kadri actually registered a plus-1 rating in the game so he's free of blame for one night. Mike Santorelli also scored for the Leafs in the losing effort.

Since shifting Nazem Kadri to the top line alongside Phil Kessel and Daniel Winnik, the Leafs have won three straight games.

We don't believe it is a coincidence. The line has registered a combined five goals and eight assists in those three contests and has been dangerous on every shift. If Kadri can truly maintain his intensity and consistency, he could finally be emerging as the Buds' first true top line center in years.
Nov 2 - 11:50 AM

Nazem Kadri tallied a goal for the Maple Leafs as they eked out a win against the Blackhawks on Saturday night 3-2.

Kadri’s 2013-14 season (20 goals, 50 points) was considered a step back when compared against his 2012-13 one when he had 44 points in 48 games. He has the ability to be a very good center in the NHL, and is just 24 years old. The goal was his fourth of the season, and it gives him five points. James van Riemsdyk and Peter Holland scored the other markers.
Nov 1 - 11:01 PM

Nazem Kadri scored a goal in Toronto’s 4-1 win over Columbus on Friday.

The third period goal gave the Leafs a 3-0 lead in the game. Kadri has three goals on the season, and he snapped a 6-game goalless drought. It’s still early in the season, but he has to be considered a disappointment through 10 games.
Oct 31 - 9:46 PM

Nazem Kadri centered a line with Phil Kessel and Joffrey Lupul as his wingers during Monday's practice.

The Leafs want to shake up their offense and create a more balanced attack. Kadri has two goals in his first three games, but he hasn't registered a point in past five outings.

The Toronto Maple Leafs continue to struggle at the Air Canada Center this season.

The Leafs are now 1-4-0 at home after Saturday's loss to the Bruins. Toronto no-showed at home against a division rival and the performance has to be concerning. "We’re two different teams on the road and at home for some reason," Leafs forward Nazem Kadri said. "We’ve got to get our compete level higher and start caring a little more. Nobody likes to get beat like that, especially in our own building."

Toronto coach Randy Carlyle believes that it is only a matter of time before Nazem Kadri and linemates Joffrey Lupul and Daniel Winnik score.

Although they only have four goals between them, the Leafs' second line is doing well according to all advanced analytic analysis. Carlyle believes the unit will score "if they continue to possess the puck and do the things that they're doing." We guess it's important to have the backing of your coach when things haven't been going so well on the scoresheet. We'll see if advanced analytics work. If the line continues to put up positive Corsi numbers but fails to score, then maybe advanced statistics aren't the panacea we all believe they might be.
Oct 25 - 12:23 PM

Nazem Kadri scored his second goal in two three games on Sunday.

He also logged a season-high 19:46 of ice time. Kadri took some heat for voicing his displeasure at the fan who threw his jersey on the ice during Toronto's 5-2 loss to Pittsburgh, but if he continues to produce then any ill-feelings will be quickly forgotten.
Oct 13 - 8:54 AM

Nazem Kadri scored in Toronto's home opening loss to Montreal.

He notched three shots and saw just 14:10 of ice time. Toronto's second line of Kadri, Joffrey Lupul and Brandon Kozun had good energy early in the game, but some defensive shortcomings relegated them to the bench for most of the contest.
Oct 9 - 1:43 PM

Nazem Kadri had a goal and an assist in Monday's preseason victory over Philadelphia.

His efforts helped the Leafs rally from a 2-0 deficit to win in the shootout. Kadri wants to become a more complete player this season and he feels he made some positive first steps even though this was just the preseason. "Production is huge. I'm an offensive player, so that's the first thing," said Kadri. " ... I think I was a little better on the draws, coming back in my own end. I even saw a few penalty-killing shifts."
Sep 23 - 8:47 AM

Nazem Kadri wants to elevate his game in 2014-15.

"My expectation for myself is to go up (in production) every year," he said. "No one has higher expectations of me than me, so I'm working as hard as I can to get there. You always work hard to get better, but now your body is a bit more mature, and you know it better, so it's easier to put on pounds or take them off, whatever you need." Kadri feels his ideal weight is around 190 pounds. He's been working hard on his shot and release during the summer. Kadri appears confident that he can improve on the 20 goals and 50 points he picked up in 78 games last campaign.
Aug 21 - 11:40 AM

Nazem Kadri was named to Team Canada for the upcoming IIHF Championships scheduled to begin on May 9th in Belarus.

He will be joined on the squad by teammates Morgan Rielly and James Reimer. Kadri had an inconsistent season but still set career highs in goals and points with 20 and 50 respectively. Reilly is a promising defenseman who just scratched the surface of his vast talent this season. We all know about the trials Reimer had in 2013-14.
Apr 18 - 11:52 AM

Nazem Kadri understands that trade rumors could heat up again for his services, but he'd like to stay in Toronto.

"I've cherished my time (as a Leaf) and hopefully it continues," Kadri said on Wednesday. "I love Toronto. I love our fans and how passionate they are." He has averaged 17:25 of ice time per contest in 2013-14 and he's recorded 50 points (20 goals, 30 assists) in 76 games.

Apr 10 - 11:27 AM

Nazem Kadri scored the winner for the Maple Leafs in their 4-3 overtime trimph over the Bruins on Thursday night.

Kadri had a ton of expectations heaped on him this season, his second full campaign in the NHL, after tallying 44 points last year. While he didn't take the leap many hoped for, he has been plenty productive for a young player, with 19 goals and 49 points. James van Riemsdyk, Tyler Bozak and Paul Ranger netted the other goals, while Phil Kessel and Cody Franson picked up two helpers apiece.
