Kadri ended his 12-game point drought with his 14th goal of the season on a second-period power play. He also dropped the gloves with Sharks center Joe Thornton just two seconds into the contest. Kadri ended up with a fistful of Thornton's burly beard when they were separated. "I thought I was a hockey player, not a barber," he said after the contest. "I had no idea how I ended up with beard ... I felt I pulled him in the middle of his jersey, and I came down with a hand full of hair."

Coach Mike Babcock believed Kadri's departure was precautionary, but he wouldn't say if the Leafs center would be available to play Friday night against Colorado.

Nazem Kadri is mired in a nine-game pointless drought, but he is confident that will get a bounce to go his way soon.

"I'm doing everything I can, and giving it my all," Kadri said. "I'm getting Grade-A chances ... I just need a little puck luck for them to go in." He has amassed 28 shots on net during his scoreless slump. Kadri has 13 goals and 23 points in 36 games this campaign.

Kadri gave the Leafs a 3-0 lead early in the first period. His nine-game point streak came to an end this past Saturday, but he bounced back with a strong performance against the Flames. Kadri also finished the contest with a plus-3 rating, two shots and one block. He now has 22 points in 26 contests.

Nazem Kadri scored a goal in Wednesday's 2-1 shootout loss to the Florida Panthers.

Kadri tied the game at one at the 13:58 mark of the third period, but the Leafs ended up losing in the shootout. Connor Brown and Patrick Marleau picked up the assists on Toronto's only goal. Kadri now has 11 goals and nine assists in 23 games this season. He's on pace to score 39 goals in 2017-18.
