Nazem Kadri is on pace to top 30 goals this season.

That's impressive considering he has hit the 20-goal mark once in his career. Kadri already has 18 goals and 31 points in 44 matches. "The one thing I've learned is, it's not about the power of the shot, necessarily. It's about the quickness," he said. "I've been really just trying to get the puck on and off my stick as quickly as possible, especially in tight, and trying to elevate the puck because goalies are just so good athletically." Kadri usually takes on the assignment of shutting down the best lines of the opposition, but that hasn't prevented him from being involved offensively. He has been red hot this month with five goals and five assists in the last nine contests.

Nazem Kadri is blossoming into a top notch shutdown center before our eyes.

He kept Sidney off the score sheet at even strength Saturday night and has been absolutely dominant in controlling Connor McDavid in two contests against the Oilers this season. You can't get three harder assignments than that and Kadri has been brilliant in all three instances. Kadri also has some scoring ability and amasses a healthy amount of penalty minutes. He is a very valuable "real" hockey player and a pretty valuable fantasy one too.
