Dmitry Kulikov will make his Sabres debut on Sunday against the Oilers.
The veteran defender has been a steady supplier of tough guy stats during his time with Florida. In 74 games last season he posted 17 points, with 51 PIMs, 121 hits and 122 blocks, which makes him a nice spot-starter if you're in need of such skills to end the week. Oct 16 - 5:16 PM

There is a chance that Dmitry Kulikov will be able to play Sunday evening against the Oilers.

Kulikov, who missed The Sabres' 4-1 loss to the Canadiens Thursday night, has been nursing a back injury but felt much better the last two days. The versatile defenseman took a regular shift at practices on Friday and Saturday and there is a decent chance he will be able to suit up against Edmonton on Sunday. If you need him, take a chance and activate him prior to the 5:00 pm ET start time.

Kulikov was on the ice with his teammates Thursday morning though. The hope is that he'll be available on Sunday.

Dmitry Kulikov was injured in Friday's 8-1 loss to Toronto.

Kulikov left the ice in pain after being hit by Toronto's Colin Greening. The Sabres defenseman crashed into the boards and the door to the Leafs bench opened. After the game, Sabres head coach provided an update on Kulikov's status. "He’s got a bruise on his backside, but at this point in time it’s not more than a bruise," Bylsma said. The injury isn't considered serious, but Kulikov isn't taking part in Saturday's practice.
Oct 1 - 11:23 AM

Dmitry Kulikov joined the Sabres for practice on Wednesday and he impressed coach Dan Bylsma.

"You see Dmitry out there, his commanding presence and skating ability," Bylsma said. He heard a "couple comments that the ability of the D-man to get the puck up to the forwards improved today with Dmitry. That's good to see." Kulikov represented Russia at the World Cup of Hockey, so he feels prepared for the start of his first season with Buffalo.
Sep 29 - 7:49 AM

Dmitry Kulikov is expected to play alongside Rasmus Ristolainen or Zach Bogosian with the Sabres.

"When they needed a goal in the playoffs, he was on the ice late in the game," Buffalo GM Tim Murray said. "When they needed to protect a lead late in the game, he was on the ice, so we certainly like what we saw. ... He can play in all situations, and he's competitive. He's not going to be easy to play against." Kulikov can become an unrestricted free agent next summer, so he'll be playing for a contract in his first season with the Sabres.

Dmitry Kulikov is excited about a new beginning with the Buffalo Sabres.

Kulikov was shipped from Florida to Buffalo in a draft day trade last weekend. "I was comfortable with Florida," Kulikov said during a telephone conference call on Tuesday. "I didn’t think that something like that was going to go down. But it did. It’s part of the business. And I’m excited for the future. I haven’t been as productive as I wanted to be in the NHL and obviously, I want to grow in that part of the game. I’m just happy for a fresh start and happy for the opportunity in Buffalo."
Jun 28 - 9:17 PM

Sabres GM Tim Murray was thrilled about acquiring Dmitry Kulikov from Florida on Saturday afternoon.

"He gives us a chance just to keep getting better and make that playoff push that we talk about now," Murray said. "I don’t know if he’s going to play with Ristolainen – that’s the coach’s job to put the lines together – but we certainly know that he can. He’s a good fit for us." The 25-year-old had one goal and 17 points in 74 games last season. Kulikov averaged 21:02 of ice time per game with the Panthers in 2015-16.

The Florida Panthers have traded Dmitry Kulikov to the Buffalo Sabres for Mark Pysyk.

The Sabres also acquired a second-round pick (No. 33) in the deal, while the Panthers received picks No. 38 and No. 89. Kulikov became an extra piece when the Panthers inked Keith Yandle to a contract. Kulikov becomes a top-four defenseman for the Sabres and should take his offensive game to the next level in Buffalo. Look for a 30 point campaign from the defenseman.
Jun 25 - 10:11 AM

Dmitry Kulikov may be shopped by the Panthers this off-season.

If the Panthers manage to sign Keith Yandle, who was acquired from New York on Monday, and Brian Campbell then Kulikov could be up for grabs. Yandle and Campbell are both potential unrestricted free agents though, so nothing is guaranteed.
Jun 20 - 6:46 PM

The Bruins are in the hunt for a "transitional" rearguard, and with Alex Goligoski off the market, may turn their attention to Kulikov. The 25-year-old Kulikov will be a free agent following next season and the Panthers may be willing to move him should the Bruins come to the table with an aggressive offer. Stay tuned.
