Dmitry Kulikov (back) will return to the lineup on Tuesday night against Nashville.

He didn't take part in the morning skate, but said he would play and he is anxious to get back in the fold. "Getting back in the lineup is something I've worked for really hard in the past couple weeks," said Kulikov. "It wasn't a fun year for me so far." He has dealt with a lingering back issue since the preseason and has suited up in just 20 games so far.

Kulikov was scheduled to meet with a doctor Monday to evaluated his status. He has dealt with a back injury since the preseason and has been limited to 20 appearances this campaign. Kulikov won't be in the lineup on Tuesday against the Rangers.

Dmitry Kulikov didn't make the trip to Boston for Saturday's game against the Bruins.

This is the second straight game he misses and the 16th overall this season. Kulikov suffered a back injury in the preseason and just hasn't felt right ever since. He's considered day-to-day at this point, but the fact that the issue has lingered for multiple months has to be concerning.

He didn't play Thursday against Boston during his latest absence. "It's something that Dmitry's dealt with for a long time," coach Dan Bylsma said. "It just flared up really over the break with three days off. We're hopeful that not playing in this game he'll get better, he'll get some recovery from it and get back."

Dmitry Kulikov will play against the Panthers in Florida for the first time since he was traded during the off-season.

"Right now it doesn't feel weird, but I'm sure when I step out for the warmups, it'll be a little emotional seeing the fans that I played for so long in front of," said Kulikov. "We played them earlier in the season and half the team is different now." Kulikov doesn't have a point in 16 games with the Sabres.

Dmitry Kulikov is nearing a return to practice.

The Sabres' defenseman, who has been out of action since November 9th with a back injury, has skated the last few days with some contact and seems to be progressing in his recovery. "Kulikov has now skated two days with some physicality and now been skating for seven days," Buffalo coach Dan Bylsma said. "Hopefully, that means we’ll see him in practice soon – in the next week hopefully." We'll keep you updated on Kulikov's stauts.
