Zack Kassian replaced Kailer Yamamoto on the second line Saturday.
Yamamoto was a healthy scratch and it gave Kassian the opportunity to play alongside Milan Lucic and Ryan Nugent-Hopkins. Kassian helped set up Kris Russell's first goal of the season 1:08 into the first and has an assist and five penalty minutes after two contests, He had 24 points and 101 minutes last season so he is worth having in your lineup if you play the PIM category. Zack Kassian scored a goal in Wednesday's 4-0 win over the Edmonton Oilers.

The 26-year-old isn't known for his soft hands, but he managed to put the puck in the net tonight. Kassian had seven goals and 17 assists in 79 games with the Oilers last season. His biggest fantasy asset is that he racks up penalty minutes. Over the last two seasons, he's picked up 114 and 101 penalty minutes.
Sep 28 - 12:00 AM

Zack Kassian has signed a three-year extension with Edmonton worth $5.85 million.

Kassian was slated to be a restricted free agent on July 1. He produced 24 points and 101 penalty minutes in 79 games with the Oilers last season.
Jun 26 - 3:29 PM

Zack Kassian scored his third goal of the playoffs Sunday.

Kassian’s goal chased John Gibson from the Anaheim net as it put the Oilers up 3-0 in the first after only six shots on goal. Kassian is known more for his rough and tumble style of play as exhibited by his 101 penalty minutes in the regular season to go with seven goals and 24 points. He is worth a pickup in fantasy pools that use the penalty minute category.
May 8 - 10:01 AM

The Edmonton Oilers are anticipating a physical series with the Anaheim Ducks in the second round.

"They're a big strong team, a physical team, a little different from San Jose," said Zack Kassian. "San Jose was standoffish, check with their sticks. Anaheim is a physical team. We're expecting that battle to increase especially as the series goes on." Kassian is one of the Oilers most physical players, so he'll be a key ingredient in matching the Ducks blow-for-blow. Kassian finished the 2016-17 campaign with 201 hits, which put him in a tie for 23rd place in the league.
Apr 26 - 10:01 AM

Zack Kassian scored the one and only goal of Game 3 in Sunday night's Oilers-Sharks battle.

Kassian pounced on a juicy David Schlemko giveaway directly in front of the net and unleashed a backhander right through Martin Jones' five-hole. Kassian now has two game winners in the series, not to mention his strong contributions off the scoreboard in the hits category. The Oilers prevailed 1-0 to take a 2-1 series lead.
Apr 17 - 1:35 AM

Look for Zack Kassian to hear the boos in San Jose for Game 3 Sunday.

Kassian leveled Logan Couture in Game 2 and Sharks fans will not be in a forgiving mood as the series switches to California for Game 3. He also scored the winning goal on a shorthanded effort but it will be the hit on Couture (as well as the five others on Friday) that will get the crowd going on Kassian. It should be an interesting time in San Jose.
Apr 16 - 8:16 AM

Zack Kassian brought all all-around performance in addition to his game-winning shorthanded goal in a 2-0 win over the San Jose Sharks.

Kassian found himself alone in on Jones after he took a pass from Mark Letestu and fired a shot behind Sharks' goaltender for his first of the postseason. Again midway through the third period, McDavid found himself all alone on a shorthanded breakaway and beat Jones to make it 2-0. Kassian had the game of his life. He was all over the ice, picking up a game-high six hits and four shots on goal. If he continues to perform like this, the Oilers will have a great chance getting past the Sharks in the first round.
Apr 15 - 1:19 AM

Zack Kassian scored the only Oilers goal as they lost 4-1 to the Islanders Tuesday night.

This was Kassian’s sixth goal of the season and only his second in the past 15 games. In that span, he earned only one assist, which has kept him from being remotely fantasy relevant.
Mar 7 - 11:50 PM

Zack Kassian found the back of the net in a 4-0 win over Anaheim.

Kassian is on a four-game point streak. He has four goals and 15 points in 47 contests this season.
Jan 26 - 11:29 AM

There is a chance that Zack Kassian could be scratched Tuesday.

He was not feeling well in the shootout loss to Vancouver Saturday and did not see the ice in the last 15 minutes of the game. If he is unable to go, then Taylor Beck will tag in for him. Kassian has two goals and nine points this season but his value in fantasy lies in his penalty minute total which is 68, fourth best in the NHL.
Jan 2 - 7:51 AM

Zack Kassian registered an assist in Edmonton's 3-1 loss on Tuesday.

Kassian snapped a four-game point drought. He has two goals, five assists, and 45 penalty minutes in 29 contests this season.

Zack Kassian isn't too focused on his point total.

Kassian has two points in his last three games after going on a 15 contest scoring drought. "At the end of the day, our job is to defend well and play hard and create energy. The points are a bonus," Kassian said. "When we do chip in offensively, it’s a bonus and it helps the team, but if at the end of the night if we don’t get a goal … that’s not what we look at. Were we physical? Were we hard to play against? Did we create energy? Did we get on the forecheck? Those are the things on a night to night basis that we need to be good at." Kassian does have some offensive potential, but if you're taking him in a standard fantasy league then odds are you're looking at his PIM. He has six points and 34 penalty minutes in 24 contests this season.
Tue, Dec 6, 2016 10:31:00 AM

Zack Kassian will tag in for Jesse Puljujarvi against the Jets on Thursday.

The veteran winger has posted four points with 27 PIMs an 41 hits in 21 games this season, which is quite beefy if you're in the right pool. He'll skate with Mark Letestu and Patrick Maroon.

Zack Kassian has declared himself "100%" healed up from his lower body injury.

The Oilers don't play until Sunday against the Rangers, so his playtime remains to be seen. But he did skate with Ryan Nugent-Hopkisn and Benoit Pouliot today at practice. Expect the bruiser to return.
