John Moore has surprisingly excelled in three-on-three overtime hockey.
Moore isn't seen as an offensive defenseman, but he's managed to score six overtime goals since the NHL adopted the three-on-three overtime structure in 2015-16. That's the most overtime goals of any defenseman over that span, topping Brent Burns and Shayne Gostisbehere, who have recorded four each. Keep in mind that Moore has 30 total goals since the start of 2015-16 while Gostisbehere has 76 and Burns has 102, so that highlights how surprising it is that Moore would top that list. For Moore's part though, he's downplayed his accomplishment. "I’m really fortunate to get the opportunity to get out there and play with some great players," Moore said. "I’m the recipient of some selfless hockey by a lot of guys." Nov 21 - 9:23 AM

John Moore is hoping his increased offensive production is something he can carry over to the 2017-18 campaign.

Moore has set career-highs this season with 10 goals and 20 points in 60 games. "It's something I've really worked at with (assistant coach) Alain Nasreddine, in terms of video and using my feet to get up in the rush and fins scoring chances," Moore said. "The stars are aligning for me a little bit this year. I've worked hard and it's nice to see it paying off." Moore's someone to keep an eye on next season, but we remain skeptical of the 26-year-old's ability to grow offensively to the point where he'll have relevance in standard fantasy hockey leagues.

The Devils have placed John Moore on I/R with a concussion following Saturday's match with Washington.

Tough way to bring in the New Year. Moore received a check from behind from Tom Wilson early on in the game and had his chin go straight into the glass. It was pretty as he crumpled to the ground and had to be stretchered off the ice. Hopefully a little extra rest will him wonders.

John Moore had to be stretchered off the ice during the first period in Saturday's matinee against Washington.

Moore took an otherwise normal check from Tom Wilson, but he took the blow facing the glass below the goal line. It appears that his chin goes straight into the glass, which left him crumpled on the ice. Not good. For now, it's an undisclosed injury and he's considered day-to-day. More to come.
