It looks like John Moore will exercise his right to have an in-person hearing after all.

Throughout the day, there have been flip-flopping reports on Moore. At first it was reported that Moore would have a phone hearing, then it came out that he had been offered an in-person hearing, but declined. Now apparently he will show up in person for his hearing. By offering him an in-person hearing, the NHL gave itself the power to suspend him for more than five games.

John Moore's conference call with the NHL's department of player safety won't be conducted until Wednesday.

"I'm really optimistic," Moore said, citing the progress his camp has had in talks over the past week. "I'd be surprised if it's not done by training camp ... Unless something really goes wrong, I expect to be here." Moore said he knew he would have to wait this off-season, but his patience could earn him a new deal soon.

Assistant GM Jeff Gorton is working to get restricted free agent John Moore signed before training camp.

"We like John a lot, just trying to get him signed," Gorton said. "I'm pretty sure we'll get him signed, and get him ready to go. He's a good player for us; he's been a good fit for us, he's a great kid, and we like his upside." The Rangers would like to get him signed before training camp and that seems like a reasonable goal. There isn't a lot of cap space left, but Moore is just coming off his entry-level deal
