Moore was a restricted free agent and by signing now, he's made sure that he won't miss any part of the Rangers' training camp. He had four goals and 15 points in 74 games in 2013-14. Sep 10 - 4:36 PM

John Moore is optimistic that he'll have a new contract prior to the start of training camp.

"I'm really optimistic," Moore said, citing the progress his camp has had in talks over the past week. "I'd be surprised if it's not done by training camp ... Unless something really goes wrong, I expect to be here." Moore said he knew he would have to wait this off-season, but his patience could earn him a new deal soon.

John Moore is believed to be close to re-signing with the New York Rangers.

Moore has completed his entry level contract and is consequently a restricted free agent. He feels that the Rangers and his agent have made a lot of progress in their negotiations recently and something should be done before the start of training camp.

Assistant GM Jeff Gorton is working to get restricted free agent John Moore signed before training camp.

"We like John a lot, just trying to get him signed," Gorton said. "I'm pretty sure we'll get him signed, and get him ready to go. He's a good player for us; he's been a good fit for us, he's a great kid, and we like his upside." The Rangers would like to get him signed before training camp and that seems like a reasonable goal. There isn't a lot of cap space left, but Moore is just coming off his entry-level deal

John Moore returned to action on Saturday after missing a couple of games due to a suspension.

Moore missed the last game of the Eastern Conference final and the first game of the Stanley Cup as he was suspended for an illegal check on the Habs Dale Weise. Moore played 19:07 minutes with a couple of hits and a blocked shot Saturday.
Jun 8 - 9:05 AM

Coach Alain Vigneault didn't directly say that John Moore will be back in the lineup for Game 2.

Still, it's expected that Moore will return to the fold after finishing his suspension. Vigneault just isn't tipping his hand about lineup decisions.
Jun 7 - 5:39 PM

John Moore is projected to play alongside Kevin Klein in Game 2 on Saturday.

Moore has completed serving his two-game suspension. He has an assist in 17 playoff games.
Jun 6 - 5:11 PM

John Moore has finished serving his two-game suspension for an illegal check during the Eastern Conference Final.

He will be eligible to play in Game 2 against Los Angeles in the Stanley Cup Final on Saturday night. Moore will probably draw back into the lineup, especially since coach Alain Vigneault spoke highly of him during Thursday's presser.
Jun 5 - 2:50 PM

John Moore won't be available for Game 1 of the Stanley Cup Final because of his two-game suspension for an illegal check on Montreal's Dale Weise.

He served the first game of his ban in Game 6 of the Eastern Conference Final on Thursday. Raphael Diaz will probably play in his place again on Wednesday when the battle for the Stanley Cup begins. Moore will eligible to return on June 7 in Game 2.
May 31 - 2:43 PM

The NHL has suspended John Moore for two games for his high hit on Dale Weise on Tuesday.

The NHL determined that Weise's head was the main point of contact on the hit. Moore will miss the remainder of the Eastern Conference Final at the least. If the Rangers win on Thursday and eliminate Montreal, then Moore will also miss the first contest of the Stanley Cup Final.
May 28 - 5:58 PM

Rangers coach Alain Vigneault doesn't think John Moore will be suspended for his high hit on Tuesday.

That being said, how often does a coach actually predict that one of his players will get suspended? A head coach almost always rises to the defense of his players, which makes their statements moot when it comes to controversial hits.
May 28 - 12:20 PM

The NHL has scheduled a hearing for John Moore after his high hit in Game 5 of the Eastern Conference Final on Tuesday.

Moore received a match penalty for his hit on Montreal's Dale Weise. "The league will do what it has to do," Rangers coach Alain Vigneault said. "I think he was penalized on the ice. John is definitely not the type of player to try to hurt someone but it was a late hit and it was the right call on the ice." Moore will probably end up missing at least a game due to a suspended.
May 28 - 11:18 AM

John Moore remained in the Rangers lineup as Raphael Diaz was a healthy scratch for the second straight game.

Moore blocked three shots in the contest but was on the ice for the lone Penguin goal as the puck bounced off his shoulder, hit defense partner Kevin Klein's leg and went into the net past Henrik Lundqvist. The Rangers may not want to change a winning lineup so don't be surprised if Moore is back out there on Tuesday for Game 7.

John Moore (concussion) might play on Thursday.

Moore was already close to returning, but it initially looked like he might be a healthy scratch when he was ready. However, Ryan McDonagh is questionable and if he can't play, then Moore almost certainly will.
