Nick Leddy could be a trade candidate for the Chicago Blackhawks, according to hockey insider Elliotte Friedman.
He has to be qualified at $3.4 million next season. The Blackhawks may let him walk to avoid having to pay him that kind of money or they could try to move him elsewhere for some kind of return. There were rumors that Chicago might deal Johnny Oduya to get under the cap, but he's an important shutdown defender. Sep 15 - 4:19 PM

He was a healthy scratch for Game 3 and it hasn't been confirmed yet if he'll play in Game 4 on Friday night. He was benched for most of Game 2 against Minnesota on Sunday. Sheldon Brookbank took his spot on the back end. Coach Joel Quenneville said the decision was more about rewarding Brookbank than punishing Leddy.

The Pittsburgh Penguins and Chicago Blackhawks are no stranger to outdoor games, but Saturday's contest at Soldier Field will still be a first for some players.

Nick Leddy can be counted among those that hasn't experienced an outdoor game before. "It reminds me of the pond in my back yard when I was younger," Leddy said. "My dad would always be icing, making sure it was always smooth for us. It brings me back to my younger days. You're letting the wind hit your face, it's definitely a different atmosphere." This is Chicago's second outdoor contest and Pittsburgh's third.

Chicago Blackhawks defenseman Nick Leddy is suddenly becoming more than just a promising blueliner lost in the Hawks' high-end shuffle.

Leddy has eight points in 14 games, which is already fairly promising. That makes him especially worth monitoring is how well he's played in the last four games. In that time, he has two goals and three assists for five points, a bit chunk of his season total. He's not getting a ton of TOI so this might be a matter of puck luck, though.

Nick Leddy, who was born in the state of Minnesota and drafted by the Wild, will be plenty motivated Saturday and Monday of this week when the Blackhawks play back to back games against his former team.

Leddy has been steady this season registering three points and a plus two rating in 10 games. Those who drafted him expecting a breakout, will likely be disappointed as he still plays behind Duncan Keith and Brent Seabrook. That said, Leddy is progressing nicely. He is a perfect fantasy depth defenceman.
