Nick Leddy will be a healthy scratch in Saturday's game against the Red Wings.
Neither team has anything to play for outside of improving their lottery odds, so it's not surprising to see the Islanders rest a key piece. Fellow blue liner Johnny Boychuk will also watch the game from the press box. Apr 7 - 6:49 PM

Nick Leddy (undisclosed) is set to return Friday night.

Leddy wasn't available for Tuesday's game. He has 10 goals and 41 points in 76 games in 2017-18.
Mar 29 - 1:58 PM

Nick Leddy won't play Tuesday night because of an undisclosed injury.

Leddy is apparently banged up after he had a minus-2 rating over 15:10 of ice time in Monday's 3-0 loss to Florida. Consider him day-to-day for now.
Mar 27 - 5:30 PM

Nick Leddy scored his 10th goal of the season and added an assist Sunday.

Leddy has 40 points this season but the stat that jumps out at you is that he is a minus-30 this season, second worst in the NHL and 17 ahead of Anders Lee who is second worst on the Islanders at minus-13. If you don't play the category, Leddy is a nice addition but if you do, his fantasy value fades.
Mar 12 - 8:36 AM

Nick Leddy found the back of the net in Monday's 5-4 overtime loss to the Nashville Predators.

Leddy extended the Islanders' lead to 4-2 at the 3:39 mark of the second period. Unfortunately for the Isles, the Predators managed to score three unanswered goals to win the game. The Islanders defenseman finished the night with a minus-1 rating, one shot on goal, two hits in 29:49 of ice time. Leddy has eight goals and 31 points in 54 games this season. John Tavares (power play), Ryan Pulock and Casey Cizikas also scored for New York in the loss.
Feb 5 - 10:27 PM

Nick Leddy scored on Saturday for the first time in 31 games.

Leddy was having an All-Star season until December 7 with six goals and 25 points in 28 games but over his next 24 contests, the defenseman had only four assists before scoring on Saturday. Maybe he is ready to break out again as he did have a streak in which he had 23 points in 24 games.
Feb 4 - 9:10 AM

Islanders coach Doug Weight feels Nick Leddy isn't getting as much recognition as he deserves.

"Three days ago, I read the top 12 Norris Trophy candidates for the first quarter of the season and his name wasn’t on it," Weight said. "He should be right at the top of the list as far as I’m concerned. I don’t get to coach everybody else but he’s been awesome for us all over the ice. He’s just really taking his game to a new level and it’s great to see." Leddy has been an offensive force this season with six goals and 20 points in 23 games. He's reached the 40-point milestone in each of his previous two seasons, but it looks like he's found another level.

Nick Leddy assisted on both Islanders goals Saturday and has 19 points in his last 16 games.

The defenseman is the top blueliner of late offensively and is tied for second overall with Alex Pietrangelo with 20 points, one behind John Klingberg. The Islanders offense is clicking on all cylinders and Leddy is a big reason why.
Sun, Nov 26, 2017 09:14:00 AM

Nick Leddy has 14 points over his last 11 games.

That's erased Leddy's slow start to the campaign, leaving him with five goals and 16 points in 20 contests. "We’ve seen the explosiveness, but what he’s done on a more regular basis, he just wants to go. Even if he’s not the eye of the snake, carrying the puck every time, he’s getting up with an authority," Islanders coach Doug Weight said of Leddy. He's reached or surpassed the 40-point milestone in each of his last two seasons and might flirt with 50 points in 2017-18.

Nick Leddy pitched in a goal and an assist in Sunday's 4-2 loss to Carolina.

Leddy is producing at an elite pace this season with five goals and 16 points through 20 games. The 26-year-old has shown steady improvement in each of the last six years, and has reached the stage where he can be depended upon to produce top-notch numbers.

Nick Leddy picked up a goal and an assist in a 6-4 win over the Carolina Hurricanes.

Leddy picked up his fourth goal of the year off a slapper from the point that Darling appeared to muff with his glove. Leddy is hot, picking up seven points in his last five games, bringing his point total has reached 14 in 18 games this season. Matt Barzal, Cal Clutterbuck, Josh Bailey, Johnny Boychuk and Jordan Eberle also scored in the win.

Nick Leddy punched in two goals and an assist in a solid night's work during the Isles' 6-4 win over Colorado.

Leddy is producing at a terrific pace this season, with three goals and 10 points in 14 games. The 26-year-old is gunning for his career high of 46 points, posted last season.

Nick Leddy scored a goal and an assist in Thursday's 6-4 loss to the Minnesota Wild.

Leddy's first goal of the season cut the Wild's lead to 4-2 late in the second period. He also collected the primary assist on Anders Lee's third period goal. Leddy finished the game with eight shots on goal and two hits in 22:53 of ice time. The Isles blue liner has four points in 10 games.

The New York Islanders defensemen have yet to score.

The Islanders have been credited with 13 goals in five games but no blueliner has found the back of the net. Nick Leddy is the Islanders top offensive force on defense as he had 11 goals and 46 points last season. Look for similar numbers this year as it is just a matter of time before the Islanders get a goal from a rearguard.
Sun, Oct 15, 2017 09:06:00 AM

Islanders coach Doug Weight has sky high expectations for Nick Leddy.

"He should be in the conversation for those (All-Star) teams and Norris Trophies," Weight said. "He can skate, he can shoot, he’s a savvy player as well. Maybe he doesn’t have the deception of a (Brent) Burns or a (Erik) Karlsson, but there’s probably three people in the world that do so I wouldn’t hold that against him. He’s right there in that upper echelon of D and he’s going to be big for us this year for sure." Perhaps being a major Norris Trophy contender is taking it too far with Leddy, but it is true that he's a superb blueliner. He had 11 goals and 46 points last season and it wouldn't be surprising to see him reach the 40-point milestone again in 2017-18.
