Palmieri is upbeat about his chances of returning on Thursday, but nothing is set in stone yet. "Hopefully I keep moving forward and I don’t have any setbacks and I should be good to go," he said. He was off to a great start before getting hurt as he had three goals and seven points in seven games. If he does play, it will likely be on a line with Nico Hischier and Taylor Hall.

Kyle Palmieri (foot) has been moved to the injured reserve list.

Palmieri's move is presumably retroactive to Oct. 20 when he last played, so he can be activated at any time. That being said, he hasn't resumed skating yet, so he probably won't be back in the near future. The Devils decided to move him to the IR now to free a roster spot for Brian Boyle, who is ready to make his season debut.

Kyle Palmieri (foot) has been engaging in off-ice workouts, but is still using a walking boot.

As previously reported, Palmieri didn't join the Devils on their road trip and will consequently miss their next three games. He hasn't played since Oct. 20. "He does have a high pain tolerance," Devils coach John Hynes said. "What’s really important for us is for him to really get healthy and when he comes back, he can be the player we need him to be and play the style he needs to play."
