Stefan Elliott registered his first assist of the 2013 campaign.
It was in Elliott's 11th game with the Avalanche this season. He might have some fantasy value in a few years, but he certainly isn't worth picking up in standard leagues at this time. Apr 12 - 8:57 AM

Elliott is back with the Avs after being sent down March 8. He had no points and a minus-4 rating in five games with Colorado earlier this season. He's unlikely to have any fantasy value this season.

Stefan Elliott, Aaron Palushaj and Mark Olver were healthy scratches Sunday.

Elliott was recalled on Feb. 19 due to injuries suffered by Erik Johnson and Ryan Wilson. With both players due to return this week, look for Elliott to be returned to the minors. Elliott saw action in only four games with no points and a minus-two rating.

Mar 4 - 7:22 AM

Stefan Elliott was called up from the minors on Monday.

Elliott was recalled due to the injuries on the blueline to Erik Johnson and Ryan Wilson and saw 12:55 minutes of action including time on the second power play. The Avs are not getting any offense from their defense, so Elliott will get every opportunity to play. He may be worth a shot in deep, deep leagues, off the waiver wire.
Feb 19 - 2:00 AM

Stefan Elliott has been sent down to the AHL Lake Erie Monsters.

Elliott might still end up with the Avalanche at some point during the 2013 campaign as an injury replacement. He has three goals and eight points in 33 AHL contests.

Stefan Elliot and Tyson Barrie are in a fight for the eighth and final spot on the blueline.

Most teams go with 14 forwards and seven defensemen but coach Joe Sacco is leaning towards 13 forwards and eight blueliners, giving Elliot and Barrie a shot at staying with the Avs. Elliot played well at the tail end of his run with the Lake Erie Monsters of the AHL and had 13 points in 39 NHL games last season so he could have fantasy value in deep, deep pools if he sticks.

Stefan Elliott has put up troubling statistics in the minors this season, but Colorado vice president of player development Craig Billington has been pleased with the defenseman's play recently.

"Stats don't always tell the whole story," he said. "I think Stefan has played really well the past few weeks. I saw him last night and I thought he played well. He had a slow start. The American Hockey League is a very good level of hockey and very challenging. He's still learning. I think he's on the right side of the curve if you will. It's going to work out just fine. He's a good evaluator of his own play. He'll keep learning." Elliott has one goal, three assists and a minus-7 rating in 25 games with Lake Erie this season.

Stefan Elliot had an assist in Lake Erie's 4-2 win over San Antonio on Saturday afternoon.

Elliot debuted in the NHL last year, playing 39 games and notching 13 points. Surprisingly, though, this was the defenseman's first point of the year, in 18 contests, as he's really struggled early on in the AHL. Tyson Barrie and Cameron Gaunce also chipped in with assists as well.

Stefan Elliott is really struggling in the AHL this season.

The 21-year-old defenseman has no points in 13 games for the Lake Erie Monsters. Elliott is also near the bottom of the team's plus/minus list at minus six. This is not what Colorado was hoping to see when they dispatched Elliott to the AHL.
