Ryan Stoa will join the AHL Lake Erie Monsters for their first round series against the Manitoba Moose.

Ryan Stoa had two goals and four points in 25 games with the Colorado Avalanche. Colorado sent down several players after their season ended with a 4-3 overtime win against Edmonton.

Ryan Stoa (appendectomy) returned to action on Thursday March 17.

Stoa had the emergency appendectomy on March 5 and it was thought that he would be out at least three weeks but Stoa missed only 12 days before returning to the lineup. He was minus-one in 14:32 minutes of action. Stoa is a bottom-six forward with no fantasy value at this time.

Stoa is still probably at least a week away from returning, but it's nice to see that he's progressing. He has two goals in 12 games this season.

Colorado winger Brandon Yip didn't skate at practice on Thursday, so Stoa might be coming up to serve as an injury replacement. In six games with the Thrashers this season, Stoa has recorded two goals on 18 shots.

Is this the first signal that Peter Forsberg is returning to the Avalanche or is Ryan O'Reilly ready to return to action? Or is it both or neither? Stay tuned. Stoa had no fantasy value in the NHL.

The Colorado Avalanche have recalled Ryan Stoa from the Lake Erie Monsters of the AHL.

Stoa played 12 games with the Avs last season, scoring twice and adding an assist. He was sent down to the minors before the start of the season and had 15 goals and 13 assists in 44 games in the AHL before his recall. Look for Stoa to have little, if any, fantasy value as he will be a bottom-six forward.

The Colorado Avalanche have assigned Ryan Stoa, Colby Cohen and Patrick Bordeleau to the minors.

Stoa is expected to have a bright future with the club, but the team felt he needed some seasoning in the AHL.
