He hasn't played yet in the preseason and is listed as day-to-day still due to an undisclosed ailment. "It’s a matter of strength" coach Paul Maurice said. "These are all kind of minor muscle issues that we're waiting for them to feel good."

He is listed as day-to-day, according to coach Paul Maurice. Postma was limited to 20 games with the Jets and four matches with AHL St. John's last season. He missed 47 contests with a blood clot in his leg.

Paul Postma scored a goal in Winnipeg's 5-3 win over Calgary Friday evening.

It was Postma's first goal of the season and it was also the game-winning goal in the contest. Postma played in only 20 games this season and registered three points in those games. Michael Frolik, Evander Kane, Carl Klingberg and Blake Wheeler also scored for the Jets, while Patrice Cormier added two helpers in the victory.

Paul Postma was an unexpected addition to the lineup on Wednesday night.

"One of the trainers called me and told me I might be going tonight," said Postma, who had just stopped at a Starbucks when his phone rang. "It was one of the crazier phone calls I've ever got, but it ended up working out." He wasn't prepared to play, but he registered two assists in Winnipeg's 5-4 overtime win over Colorado. Postma got to play because Zach Bogosian was injured during the pregame warmup.

Postma was on a conditioning assignment following being sidelined due to a bloot clot. in four games with the IceCaps he registered six points. Postma has some offensive upside but he probably won't have much of a fantasy impact this season.

He finished his blood thinner medication Friday, the final hurdle to his return to contact practices. "I've felt fine the last two months," Postma said. "Because of the blood thinners, it's such a risk to be on them and be physical. Anything could happen, a bruise or internal bleeding. It's pretty scary stuff I didn't know about, but I know now. "I'm just kind of glad it's over with." Once he regains his conditioning and timing Postma will return to action. We're thinking it will be about 10 days before you see him in a game.

Paul Postma practiced with his teammates Wednesday for the first time since he was diagnosed with a blood clot in his calf on Oct. 27.

"When I fly I will have to wear compression stockings on my legs from now on," said Postma. "I can't be seated for more than hour at a time. I have to get up and walk around. Just little stuff like that -- I have to take an aspirin when I fly just to thin my blood a little bit." Doctors never definitively determined what caused the clot, but traveling may have had something to do with it. Postma might be available to return in about a week.

Coach Claude Noel gave the news on Thursday. Postma has been skating on his own, but he hasn't been cleared for contact yet. He hasn't played since Oct. 26 because of a blood clot in his leg.

Paul Postma could be out for a few months with a blood clot in his leg.

"That's hard to hear," said Postma Monday. "I've never been out with an injury that long, not even close to that. It's going to be tough for me, but I'll try to stay positive and get through it." He's been instructed by doctors to limit his physical activity and contact until the blood clot disappears.

Paul Postma has a blood clot in his leg and he is sidelined indefinitely.

"We just learned of it [Sunday] so we're doing some follow-up stuff on that as we speak," said coach Claude Noel. "It's longer than week to week. It's unfortunate. That's just the way it goes." He will go on blood thinners and return to Winnipeg for further evaluation after Tuesday's game versus the St. Louis Blues. Adam Pardy played in Postma's place during Sunday's contest against Colorado.
