"One of the trainers called me and told me I might be going tonight," said Postma, who had just stopped at a Starbucks when his phone rang. "It was one of the crazier phone calls I've ever got, but it ended up working out." He wasn't prepared to play, but he registered two assists in Winnipeg's 5-4 overtime win over Colorado. Postma got to play because Zach Bogosian was injured during the pregame warmup.

"Because of the blood thinners, it's such a risk to be on them and be physical. Anything could happen, a bruise or internal bleeding. It's pretty scary stuff I didn't know about, but I know now. "I'm just kind of glad it's over with." Once he regains his conditioning and timing Postma will return to action. We're thinking it will be about 10 days before you see him in a game.

"When I fly I will have to wear compression stockings on my legs from now on," said Postma. "I can't be seated for more than hour at a time. I have to get up and walk around. Just little stuff like that -- I have to take an aspirin when I fly just to thin my blood a little bit." Doctors never definitively determined what caused the clot, but traveling may have had something to do with it. Postma might be available to return in about a week.

Paul Postma is probably the most likely candidate to go into the lineup if Tobias Enstrom is deemed unfit to play because of his mid-body issue.

In 27 games this season, Postma has eight points and a minus-4 rating. The Jets may also decide to go with Derek Meech and are less likely to go with much less inexperienced blueliners of Jacob Trouba or Arturs Kulda. Coach Claude Noel will see how Enstrom feels after the morning skate and make a determination.
