Alex Grant, Chris Casto and Tommy Cross were placed on waivers by the Bruins on Sunday.

They are expected to head to the minors if they clear on Monday afternoon. Grant had 42 points in 69 games with Arizona's AHL affiliate last year and he appeared in five NHL matches with the Coyotes. However, he wasn't able to claim a roster spot on Boston.

The Arizona Coyotes have assigned Alex Grant back to the AHL's Springfield Falcons.

The Coyotes' season has come to an end and since they didn't make the playoffs, Grant will get some additional work with the Falcons. Like the Coyotes, the Falcons won't be making the playoffs, but they have three games remaining on their schedule. Grant finished the season with no points, a minus-2 rating and seven penalty minutes in five NHL games.

He was summoned from the minors on Sunday, according to the AHL's transaction page. Grant has collected 11 goals and 40 points in 66 games with Springfield this season, but he also has a minus-30 rating. He hasn't played in the NHL since 2013-14 when he scored two goals in two games with Anaheim.

The Arizona Coyotes have signed Alex Grant to a one-year two-way contract.

Grant was originally drafted by the Pittsburgh Penguins, but he spent last season with Ottawa's farm team in Binghamton. The 26-year-old had six goals, 33 points and 57 penalty minutes in 58 games in the AHL in 2014-15. He will serve as organizational depth on the blue line.

The 24-year-old was originally drafted in the fourth round of the 2007 Draft by Pittsburgh and was dealt in the off-season to Anaheim. The offensive defenseman had six goals and 12 points in 19 AHL games this season. "It's an unbelievable feeling," Grant said. "It's just totally different being here compared to the minors. Just everything to do with it. It's why people work so hard to get here. Because it's such an honor to be here. You can't take any day for granted. Because there's always other guys trying to get up here too." Congratulations to Grant on his debut and goal.
