Matt Calvert (oblique) is reportedly expected to be sidelined for two weeks.

Calvert was listed as week-to-week, so by that basis a two-week absence would sound like a best-case scenario. He has nine goals and 11 points in 51 contests in 2016-17. Markus Hannikainen has been summoned from the minors as a result of the injury.
Feb 25 - 4:49 AM

Matt Calvert has been sidelined with a strained oblique and is considered week-to-week with the ailment.

Through 51 games this season the veteran winger has posted 11 points along with 42 PIMs and hits, while seeing less than 14 minutes per game on average. He suffered the injury in Sunday's match with the Predators.

Matt Calvert scored the lone goal for the Devils in a 5-1 loss to Columbus on Saturday night.

Left Winger Calvert scored his eighth goal of the season Saturday night against the Blue Jackets. Most importantly, Calvert’s goal came while two of his teammates were serving penalties, making this Calvert’s third shorthanded goal of the season. Boone Jenner was in the box for tripping and Brandon Dubinsky for misconduct at the time.
Feb 5 - 2:15 AM

Jan 21 - 4:29 PM

Matt Calvert (illness) is expected to play on Friday.

That's a pleasant surprise as Calvert was originally regarded as questionable for Friday and Saturday's contests. As it is, it looks like he'll return after only missing one game.
Jan 12 - 4:15 PM

Matt Calvert (illness) might miss the Blue Jackets' next two games.

Calvert will not travel with the Blue Jackets' to Florida for Friday's game against the Lightning and Saturday's contest against the Panthers. There's still enough time that he could join up with them before those games though, so nothing is set in stone yet. Calvert was a late scratch on Tuesday due to the illness and part of the motivation for keeping him grounded could be to simply avoid the disease from spreading further. "We’ve got a few guys fighting it," Blue Jackets coach John Tortorella said of the illness. "You get on that plane and it’s a bacteria machine."
Jan 11 - 4:38 AM

Matt Calvert will miss Tuesday's game against Carolina because of an illness.

Calvert and Sergei Bobrovsky are both out sick and they're considered day-to-day at this point. Calvert has five goals and two assists this season. Scott Harrington will be a healthy scratch for Columbus.
Jan 10 - 7:08 PM

Matt Calvert had a penalty filled night with 17 minutes Saturday.

Calvert was involved in a fight with Matt Dumba and five and a game misconduct at the 2:28 mark of the second. He took a minor penalty in the first, giving him 17 on the night. Calvert now has 35 penalty minutes with five goals and seven points as well as a plus-six rating. Not too bad for a bottom-six forward.
Jan 1 - 8:56 AM

Matt Calvert returned to the Columbus lineup Saturday after missing five games with an eye injury and concussion.

Calvert took 36 stitches to his eye and while that has healed nicely, the concussion issues forced him to be on the sidelines longer than he thought he would have to be but he did play two games before he left the lineup. "Midweek there after the second game (Nov. 21 against Colorado), I just wasn’t feeling good," Calvert said. "I think concussions have been a big thing across the league. If you’re not right, you should really tell your trainer. They handled it well and the doctor handled it great. I was in great hands and I’m feeling great right now. Sometimes symptoms don’t pop up until a few days after. I thought I was good, but then two games later I just wasn’t feeling great. I let them know. I went through the protocol and I just wasn’t myself, so I had to take some time off."
