Buffalo goalie Chad Johnson turned away 27 shots but he and the Buffalo Sabres were outscored 6-3 by the Rangers Monday night in New York.

Johnson's record is back to below .500, at 12-13-2. His goals-against average is 2.45 and his save percentage is .917. Johnson had won his past two starts and had stopped 59 of the 61 shots he faced in those games. Still, as a goalie with the lowly Sabres, Johnson is not worth a fantasy investment.
Jan 25 - 10:59 PM

As expected, Chad Johnson will get the call for Monday's game against the New York Rangers.

That opens the door for Robin Lehner to face his former teammates on Tuesday night in Ottawa. Johnson has won his last two starts and he blocked 59 of the 61 shots he has faced during that time.
Jan 25 - 3:53 PM

Coach Dan Bylsma hasn't confirmed who will start Monday yet, but it will probably be Chad Johnson.

The Sabres visit Ottawa on Tuesday and Robin Lehner will likely get the call in that contest against his old team. We should get confirmations on the team's goalie plans after the morning skate.
Jan 25 - 9:43 AM

Chad Johnson turned in another excellent performance in a 2-1 win over Arizona on Monday night.

He turned aside 26 of 27 shots after he stopped 33 shots in a 4-1 victory against Washington on Saturday. Johnson has been superb since Robin Lehner returned from injury and is certainly making a case for himself to see more action. Don't count him in the battle for Buffalo's number one goalie job.
Jan 19 - 12:02 AM

Chad Johnson will get a second straight start for the Sabres on Monday.

He will face the Coyotes after he stopped 33 shots in a 4-1 win versus the first-placed Washington Capitals Saturday. Robin Lehner is expected to get the call against Colorado on Wednesday.
Jan 18 - 3:18 PM

Chad Johnson set aside 33 shots in the Sabres’ 4-1 win against the Capitals on Saturday night.

A strong effort from Johnson, who stopped 11 of 12 shots in a third period that Capitals dominated from about the halfway point forward. Johnson has a 2.41 GAA and .919 SV%. You could do much worse than that. However, the 11 wins speak to the rest of the team’s struggles.
Jan 16 - 9:50 PM

Look for Chad Johnson to get the start against Washington Saturday night.

Robin Lehner returned to action Friday night against the Bruins, his first game since October 8th, so it is unlikley he will play in back-to-back contests. Johnson, who will now resume the role of Buffalo's backup, has a 10-2-2 record with a 2.46 goals against average and a .916 save percentage.
Jan 16 - 9:30 AM

Chad Johnson understands that his role with the Sabres may change now that Robin Lehner is back from injury.

However, his approach to playing won't change and he will be ready to step whenever he is needed. "It doesn't really change what I'm doing," Johnson said. "It's just prepare every day and practice. When I have the opportunity to play, play hard and try to get the win. Robin coming back will probably get in a bunch of games here. I'm obviously going to be here to push him and try to help this team keep winning games." Johnson owns a 10-12-2 record with a .916 save percentage and a 2.46 GAA this campaign.
Jan 15 - 7:44 AM

Chad Johnson made 42 saves in Chicago, but the Sabres fell 3-1 to the defender champs on Friday.

Johnson was sharp all night long, and wasn't without support as Buffalo through 29 pucks on net. But a couple of short-side softies plus an empty-netter sunk the Sabres. He's now 10-12-2 on the season with a .916 save percentage and a 2.46 GAA.
Jan 8 - 11:22 PM

Jan 2 - 4:45 PM

Look for Chad Johnson to start in goal Saturday against Detroit.

He is coming off a 38-save effort against the Capitals that resulted in a 5-2 loss that was certainly not his fault. For the season, Johnson boasts a 10-10-2 record with a 2.41 goals against average and a .917 save percentage. Make sure you have Johnson active early as Saturday's contest is a 1:00 pm EST matinee.
Jan 2 - 9:31 AM
