Date:

It'll be Chad Johnson once again on Sunday against Anaheim.

At this point, it would appear that Johnson owns Calgary's crease until otherwise noted. Over his last five games he's been unreal, going 4-1 with eight goals against - with five going to the loss to Philadelphia. Now with Johnny Gaudreau back, we'd feel even more confident in Johnson.
Dec 4 - 1:21 PM

Chad Johnson allowed two goals on 25 shots in a 3-2 shootout win over the Minnesota Wild on Friday.

Another start, another win for Chad Johnson. The Flames are now 7-3-1 in their last eleven starts, with all seven of those wins coming with Johnson in goal. He has now allowed two goals or less in five of his last six starts. Surprisingly, even after this great run, he is still only owned in 54% of yahoo leagues. This will quickly change and we advise picking him up before it is too late. He has officially supplanted Elliot for the starting role and has shown no signs of giving it up anytime soon. The win improves his record to 9-4-1, with a 2.05 goals against average and a .930 save percentage.
Dec 3 - 12:39 AM

Chad Johnson will get his ninth start over the last 11 games on Friday against the Wild.

Over his last eight starts the veteran underdog has posted a 6-2 record with three shutouts and 12 goals against, giving him a beastly .951 save percentage. Ride the wave.
Dec 2 - 6:17 PM

Chad Johnson is expected to start on Friday.

At this point it seems fair to regard Johnson as Calgary's starter. After all, this will be his ninth start in the Flames' last 11 games. He's earned the top job by posting a 2.06 GAA and .930 save percentage in 13 contests.
Dec 2 - 3:57 PM

Chad Johnson stopped all 39 shots he faced in a 3-0 win over the Toronto Maple Leafs on Wednesday.

Outstanding doesn't begin to describe Johnson in this one. He has now started eight of the Flames' last 10 games, he boasts a 6-2-0 record, three shutouts, a 1.50 goals against average and a .951 save percentage in those games. Owned in just 46% of yahoo leagues, he is the goaltender to add if you are in need of help in goal. He now boasts an 8-4-0 record, with a 2.06 goals against average and a .930 save percentage. He has taken over as the Flames starting goaltender for the struggling Brian Elliot.
Nov 30 - 11:38 PM

Chad Johnson will get the nod against Toronto on Wednesday night.

He was the first goalie off the ice at the morning skate and is expected to make his eighth start in ten games. Johnson has one more game left to play in November, but he has been great this month. He has a 6-3-0 record with a 2.01 GAA and a .930 save percentage.
Nov 30 - 3:03 PM

Chad Johnson made 38 saves but took the loss in Calgary's 5-3 loss to Philadelphia on Sunday night.

The 30-year-old falls to 7-4-1 this season with a 2.23 goals against average and .922 save percentage. The Flyers hurled 43 shots on the Flames and snapped the veteran’s three game winning streak.
Nov 28 - 12:10 AM

Chad Johnson is expected to get the start in goal Sunday for the Flames.

Johnson has been spectacular of late as he has given up only seven goals in his last six starts and has wrestled away the starting netminders gig from Brian Elliott. He is 7-3-1 this season with a 1.98 GAA and a .928 save percentage. The Flames are in Philadelphia to play the Flyers and Johnson should be considered a must-start at this time.

Nov 27 - 7:07 AM

Chad Johnson stopped 35 of 36 shots in Friday's 2-1 win over the Boston Bruins.

Johnson started the year as the backup goalie, but he's played well enough to steal the starting gig from Brian Elliott (for now). He's won three straight games and five of his last six games. Johnson's given up more than two goals just once during that six-game stretch. The 30-year-old has a 7-3-1 record with a 1.98 goals-against-average and a .928 save percentage in 2016-17.
Nov 25 - 10:55 PM

Chad Johnson has been picked as Calgary's starter for Friday's contest.

That means Johnson will be playing between the pipes for the sixth time in seven games. He has a 2.08 GAA and .922 save percentage in 10 games this season.
Nov 25 - 11:17 AM

Chad Johnson is making his case to be the team's starting goaltender.

All things being equal, Brian Elliott would be Calgary's undisputed No. 1, but all is not equal. Elliott has struggled mightily this season while Johnson has a 2.08 GAA and .922 save percentage in 10 starts. Johnson has also started in five of the Flames' last six games as a result. He's not the team's clear starter, but if he keeps playing like this and Elliott doesn't rebound then that might change in the not too distant future.

Nov 25 - 9:39 AM

Chad Johnson turned aside 34 shots in Wednesday's 2-0 win over the Columbus Blue Jackets.

Johnson was especially busy in the second period, when he stopped 15 shots from the Jackets. Don't look now, but with Brian Elliott struggling, Johnson has taken over as Calgary's go-to netminder. He's started five of their last six games and now has a 6-3-1 record this season. Johnson owns a 2.08 goals-against-average and a .922 save percentage. His fantasy value is increasing with each strong start.
Nov 24 - 1:19 AM

Chad Johnson will be between the pipes on Wednesday versus Columbus.

It will be his fifth start in the last six games. Johnson has won three of his past four outings and he has allowed more than two goals just once.
Nov 23 - 12:31 PM

Chad Johnson made 21 saves on 23 shots to help the Flames take down the Red Wings 3-2 on Sunday.

Johnson improves to 5-3-1 this season with a 2.31 goals against average and .911 save percentage. It was a nice rebound after allowing three goals in a loss to Chicago on Friday.
