Chad Johnson gave up four goals on 23 shots while Brian Elliott let one of nine past as the Flames lost 5-0 to the Coyotes Monday.
Johnson was not terrible in the first period with eight saves on nine shots, but he gave up three on 14 in the second. With a 4-0 deficit, the decision was made to put Elliott in for the final 20 minutes so that he could knock a little rust off during the hopeless effort. The two goalies combined for a save percentage of only .843. Feb 14 - 12:05 AM

Chad Johnson will play between the pipes on Monday.

Johnson is making his second straight start after earning a 3-2 shootout victory over Pittsburgh. He has a 17-12-1 record, 2.48 GAA, and .914 save percentage in 31 contests this season.
Feb 13 - 1:43 PM

Chad Johnson turned aside 31 of 33 shots in Tuesday's 3-2 shootout win over the Pittsburgh Penguins.

Johnson was able to blank the Penguins through two periods, but they were eventually to beat him twice in the third frame to force overtime. But once again, Johnson came up big in the shootout, as he stopped all three Penguins shooters including Sidney Crosby. Johnson owns a 17-12-1 record with a 2.48 goals-against-average and a .914 save percentage.
Feb 7 - 10:29 PM

Chad Johnson will get the nod on Tuesday versus Pittsburgh.

Brian Elliott's three-game win streak came to an end Sunday versus the Rangers, so Johnson will get a chance to play. Calgary has a win-and-you're-in philosophy in the crease now, so Johnson can string together some starts if he posts some victories.
Feb 6 - 3:39 PM

Chad Johnson allowed five goals on 20 shots in Tuesday's 5-1 loss to the Montreal Canadiens.

Even though none of the goals appeared to be his fault, this was a night to forget for Johnson and his team. Two of Montreal's five goals were scored on the power play and another one was scored shorthanded. Johnson has two losses in his last three games and he was pulled in a no-decision against the Oilers on Saturday (he allowed three goals on four shots). The Flames goalie has a 16-12-1 record with a 2.50 goals-against-average and a .913 save percentage this season.
Jan 24 - 11:33 PM

Chad Johnson will get the start in Tuesday's game against the Montreal Canadiens.

Johnson was pulled in his last start, as he gave up three goals or four shots to Edmonton on Saturday night. He was given the night off in Toronto yesterday, so he should be fresh for this game. Johnson owns a 16-11-1 record with a 2.41 goals-against-average and a .917 save percentage.
Jan 24 - 6:30 PM

It was a short appearance for Chad Johnson on Saturday, as he was a big reason why the Calgary Flames fell 7-3 to the Edmonton Oilers.

Johnson stopped one of four shots on goal in just under six minutes of ice time before the Flames saw enough. Brian Elliott had a rough game, too, giving up three goals on 26 shots. Johnson wasn't tagged with the loss, but you can say that he's either lost or had a rough night in three of his last four appearances. Elliott's likely in more control of the Flames' starting job at the moment.
Jan 22 - 2:36 AM

Chad Johnson will play between the pipes in Saturday's contest against Edmonton.

That will be Johnson's third consecutive start. He has a 16-11-1 record, 2.31 GAA, and .920 save percentage in 28 contests in 2016-17.
Jan 20 - 4:42 PM

Chad Johnson allowed all four goals in a 4-3 Calgary loss to Nashville on Thursday.

He made 17 saves in a game that saw the Flames spot the Predators a 4-0 lead before Calgary finally got on the score sheet late in the third period. Despite the poor start, he's been good this year with 16 wins to go with a 2.31 GAA and .920 save percentage in 28 appearances for the Flames.
Jan 20 - 1:52 AM

Chad Johnson will be the Calgary Flames' starter on Thursday.

Johnson will be making his sixth start in the span of seven games. He has a 2.24 GAA and .923 save percentage in 27 contests in 2016-17.
Jan 19 - 12:51 PM

Chad Johnson faced only 22 shots Tuesday night as the Flames beat the Panthers 5-2.

Johnson owes a big thank you to the offense for keeping the action on the other end of the ice, but he did his part as well and logged his fifth straight game with a save percentage above the .900 mark. His previous four efforts came in a .926 or greater. Johnson has momentum on his side. This was also his fifth straight game with a GAA of 2.09 or less.
Jan 18 - 12:43 AM

Chad Johnson will be between the pipes Tuesday versus Florida.

This will be his fifth start in the past six games. Johnson has allowed two goals or less in each of his last four outings (2-2-0). He owns a mark of 15-10-1 this season with a 2.25 goals-against average and a .924 save percentage.
Jan 17 - 3:26 PM

Chad Johnson allowed two goals on 36 shots in a 2-1 loss to the New Jersey Devils.

It's been a whirlwind season for Johnson so far. He appeared to wrestle the starting job away from Brian Elliot, then lost it, and he now appears to have won it back after starting four straight games for the Flames. It appears that coach Glen Gulutzan is set on riding the hot hand in goal and Johnson has been overall the far superior and consistent goaltender for the Flames this year. The loss drops his record to 15-10-1 with a 2.25 goals against average and a .924 save percentage.
Jan 14 - 12:09 AM

Chad Johnson will get the start on Friday against New Jersey.

Johnson was the first goalie off the ice this morning, which is usually a sign of who the starter will be. If he does get the nod then he'll be making his fourth consecutive start.
Jan 13 - 1:05 PM

Chad Johnson faced 27 shots Wednesday night and let two get past him as the Calgary Flames beat the San Jose Sharks 3-2.

This was the second straight night that Johnson made 25 saves on 27 shots. Fortunately, the Flames had enough offense this time to secure the victory, because he last outing produced a 2-0 loss to the Winnipeg Jets. With back-to-back save percentages of .926 on the heels of a .966 game against the Canucks Saturday, Johnson is heating up at the right time to keep the team in the playoff hunt.
