After being a healthy scratch in the regular season opener, Robert Bortuzzo will play in Saturday's game against the Minnesota Wild.
"Anytime you’re sitting out games, it’s disappointing, a little frustrating," Bortuzzo said. "Obviously opening night is something kind of special. But you’re going to stay positive about things and show that you’re working hard in practice and ready to contribute every day." Oct 10 - 8:23 AM

Robert Bortuzzo, Scottie Upshall and Scott Gomez will be healthy scratches in Thursday's game against the Edmonton Oilers.

Upshall and Gomez both attended camp on professional tryouts and earned themselves contracts, while Bortuzzo was acquired from Pittsburgh last season. None of these three players have any fantasy value this season.

Robert Bortuzzo (lower body) will dress on Thursday night in preseason action against Chicago.

He has been dealing with a lower-body injury throughout training camp, so this will be his first exhibition contest of 2015. Bortuzzo skated in 13 games with the Blues after he was acquired from Pittsburgh last season.
Sep 29 - 1:45 PM

Robert Bortuzzo (lower body) is expected to be back with his teammates on Wednesday.

He has been limited at training camp because of a lower-body ailment and he won't play in either of the Blues' split-squad matches against Columbus on Tuesday night. A clearer idea of his status should be known after Wednesday's skate.
Sep 22 - 4:12 PM

Robert Bortuzzo (undisclosed) practiced with his teammates on Saturday.

Bortuzzo has been dealing with the injury early on in camp, but it doesn't look like it will force him to miss much time (if any) this pre-season. The 26-year-old provides the Blues with a physical presence on the back end, but he won't have any fantasy value going forward.
Sep 20 - 10:05 AM

Robert Bortuzzo's extension with St. Louis is reportedly a two-year deal.

Bortuzzo will come with a $1.05 million annual cap hit. The Blues got him and a 2016 seventh round pick from Pittsburgh in March in exchange for Ian Cole.
Jul 2 - 4:16 PM

Robert Bortuzzo has inked an extension with the St. Louis Blues.

"We have to work on a contract with him," GM Doug Armstrong said. "I want him as part of our group. ... We need Bortuzzo's energy." He suited up in 13 games with the Blues during the regular season after he was acquired from Pittsburgh. Bortuzzo was a healthy scratch during the playoffs.
Apr 29 - 3:22 PM

Robert Bortuzzo is expected to be a healthy scratch for a third straight game Monday.

The Blues will use the same six defensemen in Game who played in the previous two contests of the series. It's going to be tough to get playing time in a group that includes Carl Gunnarsson, Alex Pietrangelo, Jay Bouwmeester, Zbynek Michalek, Barret Jackman and Kevin Shattenkirk.
Apr 20 - 5:01 PM

Robert Bortuzzo, Chris Butler and goaltender Niklas Lundstrom are scratched for Thursday's game against Minnesota.

Lundstrom is the team's emergency goaltender in case something happens to Jake Allen or Brian Elliott. Both Bortuzzo and Butler don't carry any fantasy relevance.

Apr 5 - 8:39 PM

Robert Bortuzzo has impressed Blues coach Ken Hitchcock with his recent play.

"I think we see what he means to the team," Hitchcock said. "There's an edge, there's a competitiveness, he's a good player.... Bortuzzo in our lineup makes us a lot better right now." That's noteworthy as St. Louis has an excess of talented healthy defensemen. With Bortuzzo staying in the lineup, it looks like Barret Jackman will be a healthy scratch on Friday.
Apr 3 - 6:05 PM
