Kyle Clifford had six hits to lead the Kings in only 8:07 minutes of action Saturday.
Clifford tried to get things going for the Kings as he also participated in a fight as he battled Tim Jackman of the Ducks but it was to no avail as the Kings dropped a 3-0 decision to Anaheim. Clifford has three goals and five points in 43 games with 63 penalty minutes and a plus-four rating so he has some value in pools that use the penalty minute category. Jan 26 - 7:26 AM

Kyle Clifford (head) participated in Friday's practice.

Clifford hasn't played since he got "his bell rung" on Nov. 9. It wasn't a particularly hard practice, but it's still worth noting that he was wearing a normal practice jersey, as opposed to a non-contact one.

Kyle Clifford (head) did not practice on Sunday.

Clifford was injured in the first period Saturday and did not return after 'getting his bell rung' according to coach Darryl Sutter. He will likely miss at least Tuesday's game against the Sabres and if he can't go, look for the Kings to recall a forward, possibly Tanner Pearson.

Kyle Clifford was injured in the first period Saturday and did not return.

Coach Darryl Sutter said that Clifford 'got his bell rung'. Consider him day-to-day for now. Clifford had one goal in 16 games with 32 penalty minutes. Look elsewhere in the penalty minute category if Clifford was on your roster.

Updating a previous item, the Los Angeles Kings confirmed they've signed Kyle Clifford to a two-year, $2.5 million contract.

Clifford was a restricted free agent this summer and the two-year deal appears to fall in line with most of Dean Lombardi's RFA contract. Clifford scored seven goals and 14 points in 48 games this season, each of which matched his career highs set in 2010-11. He's not worth drafting in most fantasy formats but is a solid role player for L.A.

Kyle Clifford admitted that winning on Tuesday was a bit of a "sigh of relief" moment.

"Yeah, definitely," Clifford said. "I think we knew it was going to be a big game tomorrow. It was one of those must wins. Kind of get the ball rolling for us. We know we got a little bit better and getting ready for tomorrow night." The Kings will attempt to ride that momentum into Game 4 on Thursday. Chicago still has a 2-1 series lead.

Kyle Clifford recorded his first point of the postseason on Thursday.

Clifford was moved to the top line to help spark Anze Kopitar and Justin Williams. The move worked as the three combined for the first goal in the Kings' 3-0 victory. It wouldn't be surprising to see Clifford back on the top line for Game 6 on Sunday.

Kyle Clifford skated with Anze Kopitar and Justin Williams during Wednesday's practice.

If the Kings go with those lines on Thursday, then this would be a big opportunity for Clifford. The Kings top line has been struggling in the postseason, so perhaps this change will provide them with a spark. That being said, Clifford isn't an known for his scoring abilities, but Williams sees the benefit of him being on their line. "We’re obviously starved for goals, and there’s a reason for that. Not enough net pressure, not enough traffic, not enough rebounds, not enough going to the net with a purpose. Kyle brings all of those, and if we are to play together tomorrow, we’re going to need to do that to get results," Williams said on Wednesday.

Kyle Clifford is taking part in Tuesday's pregame warmup, while Tanner Pearson is not.

It's probably safe to assume that Clifford will be back in the lineup for Game 4.

Los Angeles Kings coach Darryl Sutter wouldn't confirm if Kyle Clifford will be in the lineup for Tuesday's Game 4.

We didn't expect Sutter to reveal anything about his lineup until he absolutely has to minutes before the puck drops. However, Clifford said Monday he was ready to return and both team's beat writers seem to believe he'll be in the lineup Tuesday night. Stay tuned.

To update an earlier post, Kyle Clifford expects to play in Game 4 Tuesday night.

"It definitely looks that way," Clifford said after practice Monday. "It feels good to get back in the lineup. Playing with those guys, it's going to be a lot of fun." He skated on the fourth line with Brad Richardson and Colin Fraser during Monday's session. Rookie forward Tanner Pearson would likely draw out of the lineup to make room for Clifford's return.
