Dan Sexton spent the 2011-12 campaign in the AHL with Syracuse.

In 71 contests, he recorded 13 goals and 30 assists. Sexton was cut from Anaheim's training camp roster last fall after skating in 88 games with the Ducks over the previous two seasons. He hasn't been able to establish himself yet at the NHL level, with 13 goals and 32 points in his career. Sexton isn't likely to suit up with Anaheim in 2012-13 either, even though his contract switches to a one-way pact, and an extended lockout could result in players like Devante Smith-Pelly, Kyle Palmieri, Nick Bonino and Emerson Etem going down to the minors. It's best to avoid him for now because the window appears to be closing on him with the Ducks, but monitor his status because he could catch on elsewhere if gets a chance.

Dan Sexton has been cut from the Anaheim Ducks' training camp roster.

Sexton agreed to a two-year over the summer. Although he'll probably start the season in the minors, we wouldn't be surprised if he gets called up at some point during the 2011-12 campaign. It's also worth noting that his contract switches from a two-way deal in 2011-12 to a one-way deal next season.

Dan Sexton has inked a two-year deal with the Anaheim Ducks.

Sexton will earn $550,000 at the NHL level next season and $105,000 if he spends 2011-12 in the minors. In 2012-13, the deal becomes one-way, so he'll make $550,000 regardless of where he plays. Sexton had four goals and 13 points in 47 games with Anaheim last season.

If the Anaheim Ducks and restricted free agent Dan Sexton can't agree to terms before August 4th, the two sides will meet with an arbitrator.

Sexton had four goals and 13 points in 47 contests last season. He's coming off a two-way contract where he earned $575,000 in base salary when he played in the NHL.
