Zac Rinaldo (ankle) might be able to return before the end of the 2013 campaign.

Philadelphia GM Paul Holmgren said Rinaldo may play late in the regular season. He has seen on crutches Wednesday as he continues to recover from a high-ankle sprain. Rinaldo hasn't played since April 3.
Apr 11 - 11:21 AM

Zac Rinaldo has a high-ankle sprain and will be sidelined indefinitely.

Rinaldo was injured during Wednesday night's game. High-ankle sprains are notoriously painful and difficult to rush back from. It's entirely possible, based on what happens with the Flyers' playoff chances, Rinaldo has played his last game this season.
Apr 5 - 11:21 AM

Zac Rinaldo suffered a lower-body injury in Wednesday night's game.

Rinaldo played just 5:06 and had a fighting major before leaving the game against the Canadiens. The enforcer has five points and 80 penalty minutes this year.
Apr 3 - 11:03 PM

Zac Rinaldo has more goals in 21 games this season than he had in 66 games last year.

He notched his third goal and had an assist Thursday, as he has made a more concerted effort to being a hockey player this season, instead of just a fighter. Rinaldo has four points and 57 penalty minutes this year.

Zac Rinaldo (thigh) will be back in the lineup Tuesday against the Rangers.

Rinaldo has missed the last four games after suffering a cut on his leg that required stitches. Tye McGinn will be scratched to allow for Rinaldo's return.

Zac Rinaldo may return from his leg laceration on Tuesday.

He has missed the past four games with the ailment and is eligible to be removed from the team's injured list.
Jan 29 - 8:25 AM

There is a chance that Zac Rinaldo returns to the Flyers' lineup on Sunday.

Frank Seravalli of the Philadelphia Daily News says he "could" be back against Tampa Bay. Rinaldo is recovering from a leg laceration suffered last Sunday.
Jan 26 - 10:39 AM

Philadelphia Flyers general manager Paul Holmgren says Zac Rinaldo (thigh laceration) might miss more time than originally thought.

At first, Rinaldo was expected to miss about a week after he was sliced with a skate during Sunday's game and required 20 stitches in his thigh. However, Holmgren thinks Rinaldo might need more time than that to recover. Cuts can be tricky and everyone's skin heals at a different pace, so the Flyers don't have much choice but to sit and wait for the cut to close. The Flyers play five games in the next seven days, all of which Rinaldo appears likely to miss.
Jan 22 - 6:48 PM

Zac Rinaldo will miss at least a week due to a thigh laceration.

Rinaldo was sliced by a skate during Sunday's game and needed 20 stitches. Unfortunately, the Flyers will be playing every other day for the next little while, which means that Rinaldo will be out of action for at least four games.
Jan 21 - 2:09 PM

Zac Rinaldo needed 20 stitches and walked with a noticeable limp after Sunday's game.

On the bright side, it doesn't sound like his injury is a structural issue. His presence in the Philadelphia Flyers' next game on Tuesday is questionable.
Jan 20 - 4:12 PM

Philadelphia Flyers tough guy Zac Rinaldo left Sunday's game and won't return after suffering a lower body injury.

Rinaldo's value is obviously in penalty minutes. He piled up 232 PIM in just 66 games last season. The nine points he scored is actually fairly solid for typical enforcers, although it's unlikely to drive people to add him more than all the time he spends in he box.
Jan 20 - 1:49 PM

Zac Rinaldo scored the lone goal for Adirondack in its 5-1 loss to Albany on Friday night.

It came on a penalty shot, no less! Rinaldo said during the offseason that he wanted to focus more on his offensive game in the AHL. He still only has two goals, but he does have 10 shots on net, after barely getting one per game in action with the Flyers last year. Granted, more ice time and an elevated role helps that cause.

Zac Rinaldo potted his first goal of the AHL season in Adirondack's 4-3 victory Saturday night.

The agitator was said to be focusing more on his scoring touch during his time in the AHL, but this is the first in four games that it's shown. He may score a few more while in the minors, but don't confuse him as one of those combo-forwards who can accumulate a ton of penalty minutes and record 30 or so points a year. His fantasy value lies strictly in the penalty-minute department.

Zac Rinaldo will work to improve his offensive game in the AHL during the lockout.

To say Rinaldo plays with an edge is an understatement. The forward accumulated 232 penalty minutes last year, but he had just two goals and seven assists. The time in the NHL is the perfect chance for him to focus on offense as he'll get more ice time and possibly even a chance on the power play. Still, he's never shown too much scoring upside throughout his career. "Personally, what I want to do is score some goals, play with the puck, and not kind of get mixed up with too much fighting," Rinaldo said. "I'm going to hit. That's what I do best. But I'm also going to score goals."
