Colton Sceviour has been cleared for contact as he returns from off-season shoulder surgery.
Sceviour is still being monitored closely by the Stars who don't want to rush him back. The winger had 12 points in 26 NHL games after notching 63 points in 54 games in the AHL. He will likely see most of his action as a bottom six forward but could spend time on the second line as well. Sep 21 - 11:49 AM

Colton Sceviour is still on the mend from off-season shoulder surgery.

Dallas GM Jim Nill said that Sceviour should be ready for training camp. He's expected to compete for a permanent NHL spot this season and could move up as high as the second line if he can outperform his teammates at camp.
Sep 8 - 4:11 PM

Seasoning in the AHL for five seasons, Colton Sceviour finally got real a chance to play in the NHL last season and will be given the opportunity this season to prove he belongs with Dallas.

Sceviour is a hard-working, gritty two-way player who could catch on in either a scoring or depth role. HIs defensive adeptness hints that his default position will be in the bottom six, but the 25 year-old developed an impressive scoring touch in the AHL which saw him notch 63 points in 54 games before his NHL call-up. The Alberta native might get a chance to play with Tyler Seguin or Jason Spezza, but with Ales Hemsky and Valeri Nichushkin also vying for those spots, Sceviour will have to elevate his offensive game from the 12 points he managed in 26 games last season.
Aug 24 - 1:51 PM

Colton Sceviour will be able to play in Game 2 against the Ducks Friday night.

He slammed face first into the boards in Game 1 and there was some concern that he had seriously injured himself but he did play in the third period Wednesday. Even though he didn't skate Thursday, it seems Sceviour is good to go for Friday's contest.

Colton Sceviour scored a goal and added an assist for the Stars in Wednesday's 4-3 loss to Anaheim in Game 1 of their first round playoff series.

It was a nice way to start the playoffs for Sceviour, but the Stars failed to win. He finished the regular season with 12 points in 28 games so two points in his first playoff game ever was a great start for him. Jamie Benn and Tyler Seguin also scored for the Stars.
Apr 17 - 3:21 AM

Colton Sceviour scored early in the first period to give Dallas a 1-0 lead in Phoenix Sunday night but it turned out to be the Stars' only goal in a 2-1 victory for the Coyotes.

The goal was Sceviour's eighth of the season. While Phoenix did not qualify for the playoffs, the Stars did. They will open their first round in Anaheim Wednesday.

Colton Sceviour has been called up by Dallas.

Jan 2 - 4:24 PM

Colton Sceviour has been impressing coach Lindy Ruff with his play of late.

Sceviour had three goals in four games going into Saturday's game and he found the back of the net but the goal was waved off as the referee ruled that he had already blown his whistle. He has played well enough that it could be tough to take him out of the lineup in the short term.

Colton Sceviour scored the game-winning goal for Dallas late in the third period Tuesday night.

He cashed in on a breakaway at the 17:08 mark of the third period to give the Stars a 3-2 lead against Colorado. The 24-year-old forward has two goals and 12 shots in three outings with Dallas this season. Sceviour leads the AHL in goal scoring this year with 18 markers in 26 contests. He could be worth looking into while he's up with the big club.

Colton Sceviour has waited patiently for his chance, and he could be getting it on the Dallas Stars' power play.

Being a callup from the minors in just your third NHL game typically means you’ll get a few minutes on the fourth line, but Sceviour was moved right onto the power play Saturday in a 6-4 win in Winnipeg. It makes sense, since he leads the AHL in scoring with 18 goals in 26 games, including six power-play goals. He didn’t score on the power play Saturday, but he did score his first NHL goal on a third-period breakaway. "He’s had a lot of success down there, and we could use a bit of help there," Stars coach Lindy Ruff said. "We feel we’re getting close, and maybe he can help push us over the top." Sceviour has plenty of experience. The native of Red Deer, Alberta, was drafted 112th overall by the Stars in 2007 and is playing his fifth year in the organization. Sceviour, 24, has scored 21 goals in each of the previous two AHL seasons, so he’s off to a much quicker start.
