Date:

Carl Gunnarsson (lower body) will sit out his third straight game Thursday night.

Coach Randy Carlyle said the team is targeting Saturday's match-up versus Ottawa as a possible return date.

Carl Gunnarsson (lower body) didn't travel with the team and will not play Tuesday night.

Gunnarsson is being listed as day-to-day, but it seems like the Leafs are making sure he's 100 percent for the postseason. The Maple Leafs return home to host the Islanders on Thursday and we'll update you on Gunnarsson's status for that contest as soon as we know it.
Apr 16 - 5:24 PM

Carl Gunnarsson didn't play Monday night because of a lower-body injury.

He is being listed as day-to-day but he may have just been given the night off since he's been nursing hip and groin issues all season. It wouldn't be surprising if he was back in the lineup Wednesday night, but another night off could also do him some good.
Apr 16 - 10:00 AM

Carl Gunnarsson is still dealing with an ongoing hip issue.

He said he expects the ailment to linger for the rest of the season. In the meantime, he hasn't allowed the injury to affect his game. Gunnarsson was credited with three more hits (35) and four more blocked shots (25) in Saturday's shootout loss to Pittsburgh. He also has nine points and a plus-2 rating in his 18 appearances this season.

The Toronto Maple Leafs have activated Carl Gunnarsson (hip) from the injured reserve list.

Gunnarsson has a goal and three points in seven games this season. He hasn't played since Jan. 31.
Feb 18 - 6:25 PM

The Leafs have not ruled out Carl Gunnarsson (hip) returning on Saturday.

It doesn't seem all that likely, though, as he just returned to practice Wednesday and is still undergoing physical therapy. He stayed in Toronto on Thursday to receive massage therapy that has helped his hip in the past. "He’s had it done before and it seemed to help," Carlyle said. "We’ll have to see how it works out."

Carl Gunnarsson (hip) participated in Wednesday's practice.

He has missed the past six games with what is believed to be a groin or hip injury. The Leafs probably won't feel the need to rush him because several players who started the year with the Toronto Marlies in the AHL have fit in very nicely on the back end so far.

Carl Gunnarsson (groin) has been placed on the injured reserve list.

Gunnarsson has already been sidelined for a week now, so he can be activated whenever he's healthy. In the meantime, this clears up a roster spot for Toronto.
Feb 7 - 3:15 PM

Carl Gunnarsson is reportedly dealing with a groin injury.

The ailment, which the Leafs are calling a "lower-body injury," has prevented him from playing in Toronto's past two games. He was to undergo tests on Sunday after pulling himself off the ice during Saturday's morning skate.
Feb 5 - 10:49 AM

Carl Gunnarsson will reportedly play for Orebro in Sweden's second division while the lockout continues.

The Toronto defenseman posted 19 points, 114 hits and 152 blocked shots in 76 games last season while averaging 21:42 of ice time per match. His fantasy is very limited and that is unlikely to change when the NHL resumes action, but at least now he'll be sharper by playing during the lockout.

Carl Gunnarsson will miss Toronto's last two games this season after suffering a separated shoulder in Tuesday's overtime loss to Buffalo.

He was hit hard by Sabres forward Marcus Foligno early into the first period and wasn't able to return after logging a mere 1:08 of ice time. He will visit with doctors again on Wednesday, but initial reports suggested that surgery may not be required.

Carl Gunnarsson was injured after he was leveled behind the net on a hit by Buffalo's Marcus Foligno in the first period.

He suffered an upper-body injury on the play and did not return. The Maple Leafs have just two games remaining on their regular-season schedule, so Gunnarsson is likely done for the year. He is a decent defenseman for Toronto, but he doesn't have any fantasy value aside from his 114 hits and 152 blocked shots.

Leafs defenseman Carl Gunnarsson (ankle) is ready to return tonight against visiting New Jersey.

Gunnarsson was placed on injured reserve Feb. 14 and missed three games. He will assume his top-pairing role with Dion Phaneuf. Gunnarsson is 2-14-16 in 55 games.

Carl Gunnarsson (ankle) is projected to return to the Leafs' lineup on Tuesday.

"He's been improving rapidly," Leafs coach Ron Wilson said. "I wouldn't play him if I didn't think he could help us. He looked fine in practice today so I expect him to play tomorrow." Gunnarsson has been sidelined for three consecutive contests because of the ailment.
