Carl Gunnarsson (hip) skated for about 10-15 minutes on Monday before coming off the ice.
He underwent surgery back in May and plans to take it slow heading into training camp. Gunnarsson is hoping to be available when the Blues begin the regular season, but he thinks it's early to look ahead that far right now. Sep 15 - 2:01 PM

The St. Louis Blues think that a left-handed defenseman like Carl Gunnarsson will be a good fit for them.

Gunnarsson figures to play on one of the Blues' top-two defensive pairings. The most likely scenario is that he'll play alongside Kevin Shattenkirk, but obviously that's subject to change. Unfortunately, Gunnarsson doesn't have the offensive upside necessary to make him a factor in standard fantasy leagues.

The St. Louis Blues have acquired Carl Gunnarsson and the 94th pick in this year's entry draft for Roman Polak.

The Blues take a little salary cap hit to get a younger defenseman and a fourth-round pick. Not a bad swap. Gunnarsson's fantasy fortunes will change little in St. Louis. He is still not worth drafting in hockey pools.
Jun 28 - 11:36 AM

Carl Gunnarsson has undergone hip surgery.

Gunnarsson is expected to be fine for the start of training camp, so this is just an FYI. He had three goals and 17 points in 80 games in 2013-14.
May 12 - 5:34 PM

Carl Gunnarsson found the back of the net in Toronto's 5-3 loss to St. Louis on Tuesday night.

He has been an unlikely source of offense of late, with two goals and two assists in his last seven games. Gunnarsson has reached the 20-point mark once his five-year career and now he has 17. He's known more for being a solid defensive presence and he currently ranks fifth in the NHL with 166 blocked shots.
Mar 26 - 8:20 AM

Carl Gunnarsson scored for the first time in 83 games in Monday's win over Phoenix.

It was his first goal of the season and his seventh point in 50 games. Gunnarsson isn't known for his offensive contributions, but he has racked up 114 hits and 116 blocks to go with a plus-10 rating.
Jan 21 - 9:46 AM

Carl Gunnarsson is back in the lineup from his wrist injury.

He missed one game with the ailment. He is projected to be paired with Cody Franson against Carolina on Thursday night.
Jan 9 - 7:02 PM

Carl Gunnarsson (wrist) is listed as a game-time decision for Thursday's match in Carolina.

He missed Tuesday's game with a sore wrist after he was injured early into Saturday's contests against the New York Rangers.
Jan 9 - 3:02 PM

Toronto Maple Leafs defenseman Carl Gunnarsson will undergo an MRI for his upper-body injury on Monday.

Reports indicate that Gunnarsson's injury is elbow-related. The Maple Leafs might keep that under wraps, anyway, but we might know more about the extent of that injury early next week.
Jan 5 - 2:11 PM

Carl Gunnarsson left the game against the Rangers with an upper-body injury.

The defenseman didn't play after a first-period hit from Carl Hagelin. He logged 5:06 and had a shot on goal. Gunnarsson has played an average of 20:05 and the inconsistent Leafs defensive group can ill afford to lose him for an extended period.
Jan 4 - 8:58 PM

The Toronto defense has been a source of instability all season but Maple Leafs coach Randy Carlyle will not break up the pairing of Carl Gunnarsson and Dion Phaneuf.

This is the only defense pairing that has remained a constant for the Leafs from start to present. "I would say at this point we think that they're our go-to pair," Carlyle said. "Right now, I don't think (breaking up the two) is a possibility for us. . .But coaches change their minds." Searching for balance, Carlyle split Gunnarsson and Phaneuf for the first 28 games last season with Phaneuf playing alongside Korbinian Holzer and current Blackhawk Michael Kostka. By mid-March, though, he abandoned the plan and reconnected the team's usual top pairing.

Carl Gunnarsson has signed a three-year/$9.45 million contract with the Toronto Maple Leafs.

This deal makes Gunnarsson's arbitration hearing scheduled for Friday moot. He had 15 points and averaged 21:17 minutes of playing time in 37 games last season. The Maple Leafs have about $6 million in cap space left and they still need to re-sign restricted free agents Cody Franson, Mark Fraser and Nazem Kadri.

Carl Gunnarsson's arbitration date is set.

Gunnarsson and the Toronto Maple Leafs are scheduled to meet with an arbitrator on July 26. Of course, they can make that hearing moot if they agree to terms before then. He had a goal and 15 points in 37 games with the Maple Leafs last season.

Carl Gunnarsson will be a restricted free agent this summer.

"The ball is in their court right now, so they got to get it moving," Gunnarsson said. "The four years I've had here have been great. We'll see what they want from me next year. I haven't thought about what I want." He plans to speak with his agent this week.
