Carl Gunnarsson was ready to play Wednesday, but he wasn't taken off injured reserve in time to be active to play against Detroit.

Blues GM Doug Armstrong called it a "miscommunication in the staff," so Gunnarsson had to be scratched. The Blues played with five defensemen and 13 forwards in the match as a result. Gunnarson sat out four games with an upper-body injury, but he should be in the lineup on Friday.

Jan 20 - 1:11 PM

Carl Gunnarsson will not play on Monday against Pittsburgh.

Gunnarsson is still recovering from an upper body injury, but is considered day-to-day. Which means he could return for any one of the Blues' games next week on Wednesday vs. Detroit; Friday vs. Colorado; or Sunday vs. Chicago.
Jan 17 - 3:08 PM

Carl Gunnarsson (upper body) has resumed skating.

Gunnarsson is out for thursday's contest, but he might be back on Saturday. Nothing is set in stone yet, but this all far more optimistic than the week-to-week timetable the Blues assigned him on Monday.
Jan 14 - 4:23 PM

Carl Gunnarsson (upper body) is week-to-week, according to the Blues.

He was injured on Saturday against Los Angeles, but his ailment is not related to the one he had before Christmas. Gunnarsson has four points and a plus-11 rating in 44 matches this season.

Carl Gunnarsson didn't play Tuesday because of a lingering upper-body injury.

The ailment forced him to leave Monday's 4-3 loss to Philadelphia early in the first period, but he was able to return in the second frame. Gunnarsson is listed as day-to-day and he should be ready to play on Saturday after the Christmas break.

Carl Gunnarsson picked up a goal and an assist in a 4-2 win over Winnipeg on Sunday.

He only saw 42 seconds of power-play time in the match, but made the most of it by scoring his first goal of the season. Gunnarsson has four points in his last two games, but this scoring surge is unlikely to last. He has never surpassed 20 points in a single season during his NHL career.

Carl Gunnarsson hit the scoreboard with two assists in Friday's 4-3 win over Vancouver.

Certainly no fantasy maven, Gunnarsson picked up a pair of secondary assists on nifty goals by Jori Lehtera and Troy Brouwer. They're the first two points of the season for him, and considering his career high is 20, it may be a bit before we write him up for scoring again.

Carl Gunnarsson (groin) is expected to be ready for the regular season.

He was day-to-day with a groin injury last week, but skated alongside Kevin Shattenkirk on Tuesday and GM Doug Armstrong said the defenseman was healthy.

Carl Gunnarsson is considered day-to-day with a groin injury.

He pulled his groin during Monday's practice. Gunnarsson missed chunks of the 2014-15 season due to injury, but it's too early to tell right now if this ailment will carry into the upcoming campaign.

Carl Gunnarsson will get back into the Blues' lineup on Tuesday.

He was a healthy scratch Sunday and will draw back in because Robert Bortuzzo was injured in that match.

Carl Gunnarsson, Chris Porter, and Chris Butler will each sit out Sunday night's tilt with the Chicago Blackhawks.

While Porter and Butler leave much to be desired on the fantasy front, Gunnarsson has had a nice season for himself. He's posted 12 points, 41 hits, and 104 blocks over 54 games this season. Perhaps most remarkably, he's only taken a single penalty, a minor, this season.
