Nov 4 - 2:31 AM

Viktor Stalberg (upper body) has been cleared to play, but won't Friday.

The Rangers want to give Stalberg at least a bit more practice time. He might make his return on Tuesday instead.
Oct 29 - 1:02 PM

As expected, Viktor Stalberg won't play Sunday against the Flames.

Stalberg was rocked on Saturday by a Radko Gudas elbow to the jaw mid way through the game, and did not return. He's listed as day-to-day, and hopefully that's all it'll be as those sorts of hits can lead to prolonged absences. Stalberg is off to a solid start on New York's third line with a goal, five points, seven blocks and 25 hits through nine games.

Viktor Stalberg has left Saturday's tilt with the Flyers due to an upper body injury.

Stalberg took a Radko Gudas shoulder square to the jaw during the second period, and was clearly woozy after the impact. Stalberg played just 8:02 with a shot and four hits.
Oct 24 - 9:17 PM

Do not be surprised if Viktor Stalberg is a healthy scratch on Sunday.

Stalberg was not on any of the top four lines in practice Saturday and that is a good sign (or bad for him) that he will not be in the lineup Sunday. Stalberg has three assists and a plus-five rating in five games but is pointless and even in his last two outings.
Oct 18 - 8:17 AM

Viktor Stalberg sees himself filling a role similar to Carl Hagelin’s.

"I think we’re maybe a little bit similar players," Stalberg said. "I’m looking forward to a defined role and being able to play that and feel like I’m contributing every night on a good team. I’m looking forward to defining that." In an inconsistent year that began with injuries, he had 10 points in 25 games with the Predators.
Sep 13 - 10:14 AM

Viktor Stalberg sees the Rangers, his new team, as a Stanley Cup contender.

Stalberg spent the past two seasons with the Predators, and the Rangers signed him to a one-year deal worth $1.1 million on Day 1 of free agency. "Playing against the Rangers the past few years, you could see that they were one of the best teams in the League," Stalberg said. "I think it's a great fit for me. Their type of hockey fits my style, plus they have a chance to win it all. That makes for a perfect fit for me." Stalberg had 10 points in 25 NHL games last season, and he notched 17 points in 20 games in the AHL.
Jul 11 - 8:19 PM

Viktor Stalberg has signed on with the New York Rangers for $1.1 million.

He was bought out by the Predators this week. Stalberg was limited to just 25 games last season and he picked up 10 points.
Jul 1 - 2:57 PM

Viktor Stalberg has been placed on unconditional waivers by Nashville with the intention of buying out the rest of his contract.

According to, the Predators will have to pay Stalberg a total of $4.66 million over the next four seasons. He produced eight goals and 18 points in 70 games in 2013-14 and skated in 25 matches last season. Stalberg still has two seasons left on his deal.
Jun 29 - 2:45 PM

Nashville GM David Poile is still exploring trade options for forward Viktor Stalberg.

"We're talking to a couple teams about possibly making a trade," Poile said. "Thought that if that was going to happen, it might have happened (Saturday). We might pursue that (Sunday) and there's also the possibility that we could buy him out." Regardless of what happens, it's pretty clear that Stalberg won't be a member of the Predators in 2015-16.
Jun 28 - 10:14 AM

It should come as no surprise that Viktor Stalberg is being shopped by the Predators.

He was a bust in Nashville as he was in Chicago and was placed on waivers this past Wednesday. We don't expect Nashville GM David Polie will have an easy time getting anything meaningful in return for Stalberg.
Jun 27 - 3:11 PM

Viktor Stalberg has been put on waivers by the Nashville Predators.

He is on "regular" waivers so a buyout probably isn't the next step if he goes unclaimed. Stalberg suited up in 25 games with the Preds this past season and he contributed 10 points. He also had 17 points in 20 AHL outings.
Jun 24 - 12:28 PM

Viktor Stalberg will play in Game 1 Wednesday night versus the Chicago Blackhawks.

Stalberg was competing with teammate Mike Santorelli for the final forward spot and will dress on the third line with Matt Cullen and Calle Jarnkrok Wednesday. In 25 games this season, Stalberg only scored two goals and eight assists but does have 32 playoff games under his belt to add some experience to a young Predators team. Mike Santorelli will be a healthy scratch.
Apr 15 - 8:30 PM

Viktor Stalberg (lower body) returned to action on Saturday.

The disappointing Swede has only one goal and eight points in 19 games this season. He played 12:59 Saturday and was a minus-one. We cannot recommend him.
