Viktor Stalberg scored a goal and an assist in Wednesday's 5-2 win over the Dallas Stars.

It was easily Stalberg's most productive game since becoming a Senator last week. Both of his points were scored on the power play, as he picked up the primary assist on Chris Wideman's goal in the first period before adding one of his own late in the second frame. Stalberg getting time on the man-advantage is interesting from a fantasy perspective, but he still isn't worth owning in most leagues. He has 11 goals and four assists in 61 games this season.

Viktor Stalberg says he's happy to be playing in a traditional hockey market.

Stalberg, who was acquired by Ottawa before Wednesday's trade deadline, had been playing in Carolina since the start of the year. "It’s fun to be in a hockey town," Stalberg said. "It is different in Carolina. Just looking around the locker room with the media here, I think there’s probably more here than we had total there all year. It’s an exciting time and it’s fun to join a team that’s hunting for the playoffs." Expect him to continue playing a bottom-six role with the Senators down the stretch.

Viktor Stalberg might end up being dealt before the trade deadline.

Stalberg is playing on a one-year, $1.5 million contract, so he fits for teams seeking a rental. He would strictly be a third or fourth-line addition to any team, but he does provide a bit of offense and he can kill penalties. Plus he has 43 games of playoff experience and won the Stanley Cup with Chicago in 2013.

Stalberg's goal was rather meaningless, as he cut Pittsburgh's lead to 6-1 in the third period. The goal puts an end to his 20-game goalless drought. Stalberg is up to eight goals and 11 points in 44 games this season.
