The Nashville Predators recalled winger Viktor Stalberg from his AHL conditioning assignment on Saturday.

The team didn't make mention of a feared knee injury in a press release, so it's tough to say if he's likely to play tonight or not. Stalberg's been disappointing in Nashville, though injury luck certainly hasn't been on his side, either.

Viktor Stalberg may have sustained a serious knee injury during his conditioning assignment in Milwaukee of the AHL.

He sustained the injury after being checked in Friday's game against Grand Rapids and could not put any pressure on his right knee thereafter. Stalberg will fly to Nashville to be re-evaluated Saturday. But it does not look good. If you were one of the few who were awaiting Stalberg's return from his conditioning stint to put him in your lineup, your wait continues.

"We want Viktor to have some time in Milwaukee to fine tune his game and we look forward to having him back in Nashville."

Viktor Stalberg (lower body) was activated from the IL on Friday.

Stalberg suffered the injury early in training camp and this was his first game of the season. He had three shots on goal and a minor penalty as he played a tick under 12 minutes. He eventually should get second line minutes and as a result could be worth a waiver wire pickup once he does get more playing time.

Viktor Stalberg (lower body) skated for a second straight day at practice on Thursday.

He has worked alongside Derek Roy and Craig Smith in both sessions, but he's still listed as day-to-day with a lower-body injury. Stalberg hasn't played yet this season.

Viktor Stalberg's injury status was upgraded to day-to-day after he participated in the Predators' full team practice Friday.

Stalberg has been rehabilitating a lower-body injury he sustained on September 22nd and was originally expected to be out 2-4 weeks. It looks as if he will beat that projection. It is unclear where Stalberg will play once he returns as the Preds' top two lines look pretty crowded right now.

Sep 25 - 2:05 PM

Viktor Stalberg exited Monday's practice with a lower-body injury.

He appeared to keeping the weight off his right leg when he left the ice. Stalberg is slated to be re-evaluated and then we should know about his status. He scored just eight goals and 10 assists in 70 games last season, but it's thought that he'll be better suited playing under new coach Peter Laviolette than he was with Barry Trotz in charge. Stalberg was skating on a line with Calle Jarnkrok and Olli Jokinen in the session. Consider him day-to-day for now.
Sep 23 - 9:38 AM

Nashville Predators assistant coach Kevin McCarthy believes bench boss Peter Laviolette can get more out of Viktor Stalberg and Colin Wilson.

"Guys like Stalberg and Wilson can learn from that offensive system that we use," McCarthy said. "It's basically a lot of hard work and precision and doing things at the right time. You need to have skill for that, and they certainly have it." Stalberg accounted for just eight goals and 18 points in 70 games in his first season with the Predators.
Jun 2 - 12:11 PM

Viktor Stalberg will play in Chicago for the first time since signing with the Nashville Predators.

"You miss Chicago, it's a great place and you miss the guys there," Stalberg said. "You move on and you have to do what you have to do. I had a great time here. There's no taking away that. It's a great time to leave with winning (the 2013 Stanley Cup), and having that memory with those guys and that group over the last couple of years." Stalberg joined Nashville hoping to play a bigger role than the one he had in Chicago. Instead, his playing time has actually gone down to an average of 13:05 minutes per game this season.
