The Carolina Hurricanes have signed Viktor Stalberg to a one-year/$1.5 million contract.

Stalberg had nine goals and 20 points last season with the Rangers and was hoping to re-sign with New York, until the Hurricanes offered him a nice raise from the $1.1 million he earned last season. The forward is a bottom-six player who has no real fantasy value in most pools.

Viktor Stalberg hopes to re-sign with the New York Rangers.

Stalberg inked a one-year, $1.1 million deal for the 2015-16 campaign and went on to score nine goals and 20 points in 75 contests. "It’s a great fit for me so I’d definitely like to (stay)," Stalberg said. "It’s a great place to play. I’ve shown I belong and that I can contribute in that kind of role at this level." Stalberg, 30, is a veteran of 413 NHL games. If he re-signs with the Rangers, he'll likely serve as a bottom-six forward in 2017-18.

Viktor Stalberg lost three teeth after he was struck in the face by the stick of Pittsburgh's Kris Letang on Tuesday night.

Viktor Stalberg will sit out his second straight game on Tuesday night against Anaheim.
