Philippe Cornet registered an assist in his NHL debut on Tuesday.

"I felt pretty good out there for the first game," said Cornet. "Playing with players like (Jordan) Eberle and (Sam) Gagner helps. On that first goal, it was great work by Gagner on the cycle and it was great work by Eberle to finish it off. It feels good, I wasn’t expecting to have a point in my first game, but I’ll take it for sure." Cornet logged 10:53 minutes in Edmotnon's 3-2 victory over Colorado. He has 20 goals and 27 points in 38 AHL games this season.

Oilers’ prospect Philippe Cornet is doing whatever he can to stick with the NHL club.

Cornet is eligible to play one more year in the QMJHL with Rouyn-Noranda. He is well aware that the Oilers are in re-building mode but would like to help the cause. Last season Cornet had 28 goals and 49 assists in 65 games. "If you get 100 points, but you’re minus-40 on the year, you’re not going to get a spot, so you have to be a good two-way player."
