Wild GM Chuck Fletcher expects to sign Marcus Foligno before training camp.
"I anticipate he'll be in camp, and I don't think there will be any issues," Fletcher said. "Once you get past the first week of August, it allows you more time to focus on the other [restricted free agents]." Foligno didn't file for salary arbitration after he was acquired from Buffalo and the Wild don't expect there to be any issues with the negotiation process. He earned 2.25 million on a one-year deal last season. Aug 9 - 11:31 AM

Minnesota has had initial contract talks with Marcus Foligno.

Foligno's agents have apparently had five potential arbitration cases to deal with, while the Wild have been keeping busy as well. "We've given them the parameters of where we see it, and I'm sure we'll hear back from them shortly and go from there," GM Chuck Fletcher said. "I kind of expected we'd be speaking with Marcus more in August than we would in July." Foligno was acquired from Buffalo at the end of June and he is a restricted free agent.
Jul 27 - 8:51 AM

Marcus Foligno is looking forward to being on a team that has high expectations for the 2017-18 campaign.

Minnesota acquired Foligno from Buffalo in June. He hasn't gotten to participate in a playoff game so far in his six-season NHL career. "It’s been a lot of emotions. At first you get traded and you have to say goodbye to Buffalo. It’s a place I’ve been a long time and I know a lot of great people there," Foligno said. "At the same time, you’re going to a great organization in Minnesota, a great team that is obviously ready to win a Stanley cup. I think that’s the biggest thing. I’m excited to win and be a winner for a long time." Foligno is a restricted free agent, so he still needs a new contract, but he said he's "looking forward to being with the Wild for a while." He had 13 goals, 23 points, and 73 penalty minutes in 80 games in 2016-17.
Jul 22 - 9:26 AM

The Minnesota Wild have acquired Marcus Foligno from Buffalo in a multi-player trade.

Foligno had 13 goals and 23 points in 80 games last season. He's a very physical forward as illustrated by his 73 penalty minutes and 279 hits in 2016-17.

Marcus Foligno wants to keep playing with Jack Eichel next season.

"I hope I'm back there next year," Foligno said. "Obviously, you want to be with the best players on the team. We had some good games with Jack and Sam [Reinhart]." He potted a career-high 13 goals in 2016-17 and combined with Eichel on seven. Foligno finished the 2016-17 campaign with 23 points and 73 penalty minutes in 80 games.

Marcus Foligno (knee) will miss Buffalo's final two games.

It's estimated that Foligno will need seven-to-10 days to recover, but given that there's less than a week left in the regular season he won't be returning. The short timetable does mean that his knee problem shouldn't impact his offseason training though.
Apr 7 - 12:15 PM

Marcus Foligno exited Wednesday's game against Montreal early in the second period due to a knee injury.

He had two shots and three hits in 10:25 of ice time prior to leaving. Depending on the severity of the injury that may have been his last appearance of the season. Buffalo only has two games left on the 2016-17 schedule.
Apr 6 - 8:27 AM

Marcus Foligno tallied a pair of goals in Thursday's 6-3 win over Arizona.

He got Buffalo on the board in the first period with a shorthanded marker after the Coyotes took a 1-0 lead and he helped seal the victory with an empty-netter in the third. Foligno has produced a personal best 12 goals along with 19 points and 60 penalty minutes this season. He also ranks third in the NHL with 222 hits.
Mar 3 - 9:00 AM

Marcus Foligno registered an assist in the Sabres 4-0 win over Ottawa Saturday night.

Why is this noteworthy? Because it ended a 10-game pointless drought for Foligno, who plays on the Sabres' top line alongside Jack Eichel and Sam Reinhart. Foligno is a nice source of penalty minutes and hits, so even when he is not lighting up the scoreboard, he can still be a fantasy asset.
Feb 5 - 9:37 AM

Marcus Foligno picked up his seventh goal of the season during Saturday's 4-3 win over the Jets.

Foligno now has goals in as many games, with three over his last six games. Could this be the start of something bigger? Unlikely unfortunately, as he now has just 107 points in 306 career games.
Jan 7 - 4:37 PM

Marcus Foligno scored his sixth goal of the season Thursday night.

He opened the scoring in a 4-3 overtime loss to Chicago. Foligno skated on the top line with Jack Eichel and Kyle Okposo in the contest. He has notched two goals in his last four outings and he has five points in his past nine, which qualifies as a solid hot streak for a player who has 13 points this season.
Jan 6 - 9:16 AM

Marcus Foligno ticked off all the boxes during Thursday's 4-2 loss to the Bruins on Thursday.

Foligno picked up his fifth goal of the season, which gives him three points over his last four games to boot. He also notched two hits and three blocks as well in the effort. For the season Foligno has 12 points in 35 games.

Marcus Foligno is projected to play alongside Ryan O’Reilly and Sam Reinhart on Tuesday.

That's a step up for Foligno, whose usual linemates have been Brian Gionta and Johan Larsson lately. He's being rewarded after a strong showing in the third period of Saturday's contest. "His third period was his best by a mile, playing a big body, physical," Sabres coach Dan Bylsma said. "He was at the net front a couple times in the third. For three scoring chances, he’s the guy at the net, around the net, screening the goalie, getting a tip on some of those pucks and creating second opportunities. That’s the way we need him to play for 60 minutes, for every period."

Marcus Foligno posted his 100th career point on Thursday in a 4-3 win over the New York Rangers.

He earned an assist on goal by Brian Gionta during the second period. The trio of Foligno, Gionta and Johan Larsson combined for two goals and two assists in the contest. Foligno has seven points in 23 games this season.
