Date:

Andre Benoit is expected to play in Game 2 on Friday.

It will be Benoit's second appearance of the 2013 playoffs. He had an assist and logged 12:35 minutes of playing time in Ottawa's 3-1 loss to Montreal on May 3.
May 17 - 12:44 PM

Andre Benoit was paired with Chris Phillips at Thursday's practice.

It looks like he'll play in Game 2 Friday against Pittsburgh if Eric Gryba isn't able to suit up. Gryba is listed as a game-time decision.
May 16 - 3:44 PM

Andre Benoit may get another crack at NHL playoff action in Game 2 against Pittsburgh Friday night.

He dressed in Game 2 versus Montreal during the first round after Eric Gryba was suspended and now with Gryba likely to sit due to injury, Benoit might play in his second career postseason contest. If Benoit doesn't suit up then Mike Lundin might go instead if Gryba is unable.
May 15 - 5:29 PM

With Eric Gryba serving his two-game suspension for the hit he placed on Montreal's Lars Eller, defenseman Andre Benoit was in the lineup for Ottawa's 3-1 loss on Friday.

The offensive-minded blue liner played less than 13 minutes in the defeat, but he did pick up an assist on the team's only tally, leading us to believe he'll be active once again as Gryba serves the final game of his suspension.
May 5 - 8:46 AM

With no timetable for Mike Lundin's (concussion) return, Andre Benoit takes his place in the lineup for now.

Benoit's had a fairly quiet 17 games (one goal and three assists for four points) this season. He scored one tally and zero assists in the month of February, so he's hoping for a more productive March.
Mar 3 - 1:23 PM

Andre Benoit got his first NHL goal in Tuesday's 3-1 win over the New York Islanders.

The 29-year-old defenseman tallied what would be the game-winning goal in the second period. It's only fitting that Jakob Silfverberg picked up the lone assist on the marker after his goaltender interference penalty cost Benoit a goal back on Feb. 3 against Montreal.
Feb 20 - 10:35 AM

Andre Benoit had what would have been his first NHL goal waved off on Sunday.

Benoit beat Canadiens netminder Carey Price, but the officials waved it off and put Senators forward Jakob Silfverberg in the box for goaltender interference. That goal might have been the difference in Montreal's 2-1 win. After the game Senators coach Paul MacLean refused to talk about the officiating while Silfverberg didn't want to say too much without seeing the replay. Still, it's safe to say that the questionable ruling was very unpopular in Ottawa.
Feb 4 - 11:17 AM

Andre Benoit got back into Ottawa's lineup on Wednesday after he was a healthy scratch Tuesday.

He was a last-minute addition after Sergei Gonchar was deemed unable to play due to lower-body injury. Benoit logged 19:25 of ice time and contributed two assists in the Senators' 5-1 victory over Montreal. Wednesday marked the first time this season that farmhands Patrick Wiercioch, Mark Borowiecki and Benoit all played in the same game.
Jan 31 - 11:22 AM

Andre Benoit and Patrick Wiercioch will start the season as Ottawa's third defense pairing.

The two of them have been AHL Binghamton's top tandem this season and they'll get the chance to start in the NHL thanks to a couple of injuries on the big club's blueline. Benoit has racked up 25 points in 34 games this year with the Baby Senators, while Wiercioch has collected 19 points over 32 contests.
Jan 18 - 10:05 AM

Andre Benoit's two-way contract that he signed with the Ottawa Senators this past July will reportedly pay him $300,000 to play in the AHL this season.

If you are looking for a comparison, Ottawa prospects like Mika Zibanejad will make $70,000, while Jared Cowen and Jakob Silfverberg will earn $67,500 apiece to skate in the minors. Benoit spent the 2011-12 campaign in the KHL, where he recorded 17 points in 53 games with Moscow Spartak.

Andre Benoit is back with the Ottawa Senators.

He was in the KHL last season after appearing in a hand full of games with the Sens in 2010-11. Benoit will receive $650,000 in 2012-13. We don't regard him as much of a fantasy option for next season.

Andre Benoit has been called up from the minors.

Benoit was returned to the AHL after playing in Saturday's game, but Ottawa needed him back. Erik Karlsson and Sergei Gonchar are likely done for the season, so Benoit stay with the Senators for their final three games.

The Senators have recalled defenseman Andre Benoit from Binghamton of the AHL.

He may suit up as the Sens' are not going to be able to play an injured Erik Karlsson. Benoit has no real fantasy value at this time.
