Brandon McMillan has been dealt to the Phoenix Coyotes for Matthew Lombardi.
McMillan spent 60 games in his rookie season with the Ducks in 2010-11 but has spent most of the last two seasons in the minors as he played only 25 games with four assists last season and only six thus far in 2013 with a measly assist. He has a new chance to play in the desert but is likely a bottom-six forward at best. Apr 3 - 3:39 PM

Brandon McMillan played 6:39 minutes in his seasonal debut for the Ducks Monday.

McMillan saw fourth line action alongside Emerson Etem and Patrick Maroon and was minus-one on the evening. He missed 19 games in the AHL this season with a broken arm and received the call up after scoring four goals in his last eight games for Norfolk of the AHL. "I knew I was playing really well and I knew if I kept playing the same way, I was going to get an opportunity," McMillan said. "I realized I could come back in and be able to prove myself again. Sitting down there and just waiting, it wasn't good enough. It's not good enough. I want to be here and this is where I want to play." Don't expect a lot of stats from McMillan if he remains as a bottom six forward, but he will chip in with an occasional goal.
Mar 5 - 5:29 AM

Brandon McMillan has been called up by the Ducks.

He is slated to skate on the fourth line between Patrick Maroon and Emerson Etem against Phoenix on Monday night. McMillan hasn't played for Anaheim yet this season, but he had four assists and 20 penalty minutes in 25 NHL appearances with the team last year.
Mar 4 - 3:47 PM

Brandon McMillan scored his first goal of the AHL season in Saturday's 4-2 loss to the Binghamton Senators.

He has picked up two points and 22 shots in 11 games so far with the Norfolk Admirals. McMillan ended the 2011-12 campaign in the minors as well after he collected just four assists in 25 NHL games. His early play is suggesting that he'll probably stay with Anaheim's AHL affiliate once the lockout is settled unless he can elevate his game and earn a spot on the fourth line.

Ducks winger Brandon McMillan may have a difficult time making the team out of training camp.

Despite starting the season with promise, McMillan finished out the year in the AHL after hitting a rough patch and will have to impress the Ducks brass if he wants to avoid starting there again.

Brandon McMillan scored the winner as the Syracuse Crunch of the AHL tied their best-of-five playoff series at one apiece.

The Crunch defeated the St. John’s IceCaps, 4-3 Saturday but Syracuse is in tough as the series now moves to Newfoundland for the rest of quarter-finals. McMillan played 25 games in the NHL this season, picking up four assists with a minus-10 rating. He managed 12 goals and 30 points with the Crunch in 55 regular season games.

Brandon McMillan has been sent down to the minors by the Anaheim Ducks.

McMillan has four points and a minus-10 rating in 25 games with Anaheim this season. We wouldn't be surprised if he gets another chance to serve with the Ducks before the 2011-12 campaign is over, but McMillan shouldn't be counted on to have any fantasy value in standard leagues.

Brandon McMillan has been summoned by the Anaheim Ducks.

McMillan has three goals in five games with the AHL Syracuse Crunch this season. He also has three points in 23 games with the Ducks.

Brandon McMillan has been sent down to AHL Syracuse.

McMillan has three points and a minus-nine rating in 23 games this season. He might get called back up, but he isn't expected to have any fantasy value in 2011-12.

Brandon McMillan's playing time could suffer due to the arrival of Niklas Hagman.

McMillan is already averaging just 11:37 minutes per game, compared to 14:04 per contest in 2010-11. McMillan, like many of the Ducks players, has struggled to score this season and has just three assists in 18 games. "He was a good utility young player for us last year and we're having trouble finding him and getting him going to the right level that's required," Ducks coach Randy Carlyle said. "I don't see the desperation that's necessary. ... I think he can play harder and be more involved in the game." We'll see if McMillan can respond.

Coach Randy Carlyle is expecting Brandon McMillan to hit the scoresheet as a second line player alongside Saku Koivu and Teemu Selanne.

McMillan was placed on the second unit with the torn wrist tendon suffered by Jason Blake who will be out three months. "I think it's what it is," Carlyle said. "It's an opportunity. (I had) a conversation with him. Just don't accept that you're playing there. We need production. Don't expect that just because you're the guy that's practiced there, that that's going to continue if we don't get production. This game is about producing and winning. It gets masked if you're not producing and you're winning because you kind of fly under the radar. At some point, even the best players get criticized for not producing." The lack of playing time on the power play will limit his point total but he could get 40 this season if he remains on the line.

Brandon McMillan skated on a line with Saku Koivu and Teemu Selanne during Wednesday's practice.

That spot usually belongs to Jason Blake, but Blake is out for three months with a lacerated forearm. With that in mind, the 21-year-old McMillan is being given a great opportunity to establish himself as a top-six forward. He could reach the 40-point mark if he spends the majority of the season on the second line.

Brandon McMillan set up the winner on Wednesday and scored his first playoff goal.

McMillan set up Corey Perry for a shorthanded goal early in the third and scored the final goal of the game with over 13 minutes remaining as the Ducks tied their series with the Predators at two. Look for McMillan to see third line minutes with the return of Bobby Ryan as he showed offensive skill in addition to his two points with six shots on goal.

Brandon McMillan took the place of the suspended Bobby Ryan on the top line in practice on Saturday.

McMillan lined up with Ryan Getzlaf and Corey Perry as the Ducks will have to make due without the services of Bobby Ryan who received a two-game suspension from the NHL for stomping on the Predators Jonathan Blum with his skate on Friday. Brad Winchester and Matt Beleskey could also see duty on the top line. The Ducks have taken Ryan off the top unit from time to time this season so the transition for Getzlaf and Perry will be minimal. "We've had these situations before and you band together," coach Randy Carlyle said. "What you do is you try to share the responsibility. No one guy can replace Bobby Ryan. Collectively, some people are going to have to step up and play to a higher level than they have probably all year. That's really what we're asking of our guys." Stay tuned.

Brandon McMillan has scored a goal in each of his last three contests.

McMillan is also riding a four-game point streak. McMillan has managed to earn a spot on the Ducks roster thanks to his defensive abilities, but he's capable of developing into a player that also has some fantasy value. "I'm just starting to get a little bit more comfortable in the offensive zone," said McMillan. "My confidence is there right now. I've got a lot of confidence with the puck." He has eight goals and 14 points in 35 games this season.
