Micheal Haley understands how coach Bob Boughner wants him to play this season.
Haley played the past two seasons for the Sharks, where Boughner served as an assistant. "Boughner believes in in-your-face; that doesn't necessarily mean roughness, but always hunting, always chasing the puck, taking away their time and space," said Haley. "You don't want to come in here and think it's going to be an easy two points, an easy game. You know when you step on our ice surface we're going to be coming and be giving everything we got." He racked up 128 penalty minutes and 129 hits in 58 appearances last year. Jul 24 - 11:14 AM

The Florida Panthers have signed tough guy Michael Haley to a two-year deal.

Terms were not disclosed. The Cats haven't had a physical forward since the retirement of Shawn Thornton over a season ago, so Haley's arrival will be welcomed by some of the team's smaller players. In pools that value PIMs, Haley could be a marginal fantasy asset.

According to an NHL source, there is mutual interest to get a deal done between the Sharks and Haley's camp. However, nothing is believed to be imminent. Haley had 12 points and 128 penalty minutes in 58 games this past season.

Micheal Haley will have a disciplinary hearing for roughing/sucker punching Nashville's Calle Jarnkrok.

Haley sucker punched Jarnkrok after the Predators forward hit him into the boards. Haley received a 10-minute match penalty for the incident. Don't be surprised if Haley gets suspended for multiple games.

Do not be surprised if Michael Haley is suspended for his hit on Calle Jarnkrok of the Nashville Predators.

Haley got a 10 minute match penalty for punching Jarnkrok, seconds after the Nashville forward hit Haley into the boards. NHL rules state that a player is suspended when receiving a match penalty until the NHL rules upon it. The Sharks do not play until Tuesday against the Rangers so it should be determined by then what his punishment is or isn't. Haley has two goals and 11 points in 54 games with a whopping 110 penalty minutes and a plus-five rating. He has some value in pools that use the penalty minute category.
Mar 26 - 10:11 AM

Micheal Haley scored his first goal of the season and added an assist in the 4-1 win against the Coyotes Saturday night.

This was Haley’s fourth goal of his career. Last year he scored one goal in 16 games with the Sharks, but failed to earn another point. So far in 2016-2017, he has earned nine assists in addition to his goal, making it his most productive season at the top level. This is the second time this season Haley has scored two points in a game; his first such effort came January 10 against the Oilers.
Feb 19 - 1:46 AM

Micheal Haley (upper body) returned to the Sharks lineup Saturday.

Haley had been on the injured reserve list since January 18 but was taken off on January 27 and had been a healthy scratch ever since. The Sharks resident tough guy was a minus-one with a minor penalty and has six assists and 60 minutes in penalties in 32 games this season.
Feb 5 - 10:04 AM

Micheal Haley (upper body) has been presumably taken off the injured reserve list.

As Capfriendly points out, the Sharks current roster would appear to be illegal otherwise. The issue is that San Jose sent four players to the minors over the last two days (Barclay Goodrow, Timo Meier, Kevin Labanc, and Tim Heed). That leaves them with just 19 players on their active roster, but if they activated Haley then they are meeting the minimum requirements. Keep in mind that it's standard for teams to reduce their roster during the All-Star break and there will be a flurry of callups after the break to counter the demotions that we're seeing.
Jan 27 - 2:35 PM

Micheal Haley (upper body) has been placed on injured reserve.

Haley picked up an assist in Wednesday's game against Los Angeles in 7:38 of ice time. He has six helpers and 58 penalty minutes in 31 contests.
