James Wright will make his season debut against the Washington Capitals on Tuesday in place of Kyle Wellwood.

Winnipeg is winless through two games and coach Claude Noel said he wanted to try to find a way to get his top forwards going. The Jets claimed Wright off waivers last week. He had 17 points and 31 PIM in 40 AHL contests. "It’s not a (criticism) of Wellwood. I thought Kyle was good in both games," Noel said. "It’s just you play heavy games and he looked tired and looked a little slower."

James Wright has been placed on waivers by the Florida Panthers.

Wright will have a better shot of making the Panthers next season when his deal becomes one-way. He has 17 points and 31 penalty minutes in 40 AHL games this season.

James Wright has a shot at making Florida's roster.

The one-way part of his deal doesn't kick in until next season, but he has the most NHL experience of the call-ups, which could give him an edge over Jon Rheault and Drew Shore and he plays a position that the team could use some depth in.

James Wright has signed a two-year deal with the Florida Panthers.

Wright had 12 goals and 33 points in 76 AHL games with the Norfolk Admirals and San Antonio Rampage in 2011-12. He also has five points in 49 career NHL contests.

The Tampa Bay Lightning have sent James Wright to the Florida Panthers as part of a four-player swap.

All four of the players are currently playing in the minors. Wright has a goal and five points in 22 AHL contests. He was selected by the Lightning in the fourth round of the 2008 NHL entry draft.

The Tampa Bay Lightning have recalled winger James Wright from Norfolk of the AHL.

The former fourth round pick played 48 games with the Lightning last season as a 19-year-old, scoring twice and adding three assists. He has four goals and 12 points in 15 games this season in the AHL. Wright was recalled due to the suspension of forward Mattias Ritola.

James Wright led the Lightning with six points during the four game prospects tournament.

Wright played in 48 NHL games last season, but he's a long shot to make the Lightning's opening day roster. However, he's still regarded as one of Tampa Bay's top prospects and he's worth keeping an eye on.

James Wright posted a goal and an assist for Tampa Bay in a 3-1 triumph over Dallas at the prospects tournament on Tuesday.

He has enjoyed an excellent tournament with a team-high five points (two goals and three assists) in three games. Wright skated in 48 games with the Lightning last season as a rookie before being returned to his junior club in the Western Hockey League.

James Wright has been sent down to WHL Vancouver.

The Lightning needed to make room for Nate Thompson, who they claimed off waivers from the New York Islanders. At one point, Wright looked like a bit of a sleeper pick, playing on a line with Vincent Lecavalier and Marty St. Louis. However, Wright ended up scoring just two goals and five points in 48 games.

James Wright was a healthy scratch Wednesday.

Wright, 19, needs teaching time, according to coach Rick Tocchet. The Lightning employed a similar strategy to Steven Stamkos last season who did homework from the press box for a few games last year. The youngster has two goals and five points in 36 games this season and is pointless in his last 13 games. He remains a top prospect, but won't have a true impact for another year or two.

James Wright will be a healthy scratch on Wednesday against the Flyers.

Coach Rick Tocchet feels that the rookie's play has dropped off since the start of the year. "He needs a little bit of teaching time," said the Tampa bench boss. "It's tough, junior to NHL. We've been flying and playing and we've been playing a lot of hockey. He's working so hard right now, he has to take a step back. He'll be fine. He's a good hockey player."

Lightning coach Rick Tocchet plans to have James Wright play in his 10th NHL game on Wednesday.

Once Wright plays in his 10th NHL game, his three-year, entry-level deal will kick in. Teams will often return rookies to their junior club after playing in nine or fewer NHL games if they still think they need more seasoning. However, the Lightning seem perfectly content to keep Wright in the NHL for the foreseeable future. He has one goal and two points in nine games this season and he's currently playing on the top line with Vincent Lecavalier and Marty St. Louis.
