Cody Eakin had a goal and an assist Sunday in the Golden Knights 4-2 win.
Eakin broke out of a six game pointless streak and has three goals and nine points this season. He has been playing on the third line of late after starting the season as a top-six forward. "When we made the switch, I talked to him a little bit about it and he said he’s happy where he’s at," Knights coach Gerard Gallant said prior to the game. "He’ll score his share of goals, but he takes pride in playing real good defensive hockey, and that’s what he is." Nov 20 - 7:45 AM

Cody Eakin scored a goal in a 2-1 loss to the Boston Bruins on Thursday night.

Nate Schmidt made a nice play to force the turnover before setting up Cody Eakin for the one-timer that just got through Rask. Eakin impressively has two goals and seven points in 12 games this season. The Eakin, Tuch, and Lindberg line has been really good of late and are definitely worth keeping an eye on.
Nov 2 - 10:18 PM

Cody Eakin scored a goal in Tuesday's 3-2 overtime loss to the Los Angeles Kings.

Eakin's goal at the 3:44 mark of the first period was the first tally at Vegas' T-Mobile Arena. Eakin will be looking to bounce back after a terrible 2016-17 regular season with the Dallas Stars. Last year, he had just three goals and 12 points in 60 games. In the previous three years, he scored between 35 and 40 points.

Cody Eakin registered a pair of assists in Thursday's 5-2 loss to the San Jose Sharks.

This is actually Vegas' first loss of the preseason, as they won their first two games. Eakin helped set up goals by David Perron and Teemu Pulkkinen. Eakin had a tough season in 2016-17. He picked up just three goals and 12 points in 60 games. Eakin should be able to reach the 30-point mark in the Golden Knights' first season.
Sep 22 - 1:00 AM

Cody Eakin has been snagged by the Golden Knights in the expansion draft.

Eakin spent the last five seasons with the Dallas Stars. In 60 games with the Stars last year, he posted just 12 points, but he is capable of generating 35-40 points like he did in each of his previous three seasons. Eakin plays a solid two-way game and Vegas GM George McPhee was in charge in Washington when the team drafted him.
Jun 21 - 8:42 PM

Cody Eakin was left unprotected by the Dallas Stars ahead of the expansion draft.

Eakin is coming off a down season where he was limited to three goals and 12 points in 60 games. He might bounce back and be a solid two-way center next season, but given the 2016-17 campaign he had, the Golden Knights might end up passing on his $3.85 million cap hit through 2019-20. That being said, he does have a connection with Golden Knights GM George McPhee as he was the Capitals' general manager when Washington drafted him.
Jun 19 - 9:43 AM

Cody Eakin or Antoine Roussel could end up being available for the Vegas Golden Knights in the expansion draft.

Eakin has proven to be a valuable center for the Stars, while playing up and down the lineup, so that could make Roussel the odd-man out even though he has some versatility as well. It's also possible that Dallas could shop both players and protect the one they don't trade.
May 5 - 10:20 AM

Cody Eakin scored Dallas' only goal in their 3-1 loss to the Minnesota Wild.

Eakin's goal at the 5:19 mark of the third period cut Minnesota's lead to 2-1, but that's as close as Dallas could get to tying things up. Antoine Roussel and Patrick Eaves picked up the assist on Eakin's second goal of the year. Eakin has eight points and 41 penalty minutes in 37 games this season.
Feb 17 - 12:25 AM

Cody Eakin had the lone assist on Dallas' only goal Tuesday in a 3-1 loss to Toronto.

His faceoff win was blasted into the net by Tyler Seguin on a Stars' power play. Eakin has two assists in the last two games after he went six straight contests without a point.
Feb 8 - 11:13 AM

Cody Eakin had a Gordie Howe hat trick in Tuesday's win over the Rangers.

He fought New York's Chris Kreider, scored his first goal of the season and added an assist in his first game versus the Rangers since he was suspended for running over Henrik Lundqvist.
Jan 18 - 11:35 AM

Cody Eakin has received a four-game suspension for charging into Henrik Lundqvist.

Eakin smashed into Lundqvist behind the net during Thursday's game. Lundqvist left the contest, but fortunately was able to return after a short time. As the league notes, the goaltender is not fair game to be hit and it was Eakin's responsibility to make a reasonable effort to avoid contact, which they felt Eakin did not do. They also noted that Eakin made "substantial contact with the goaltender's head." It likely helped Eakin that he didn't have a suspension history. All the same, he won't be able to play again until December 29th.

Cody Eakin's hearing on Friday for charging into Henrik Lundqvist will be over the phone.

That's important because it means Eakin will not receive a suspension of more than five games. Lundqvist briefly left the contest as a result of that hit, but he was able to return.
