Coach Lindy Ruff has noted that Cody Eakin will work his way up the proverbial totem pole, starting tonight.

Which means that tonight he'll have a minimal role to kick things off. He's expected to center Devin Shore and Jason Spezza on Dallas' third line, but probably won't see much time on special teams.
Nov 17 - 6:55 PM

Cody Eakin (knee) has been activated by the Dallas Stars.

He didn't skate late during the morning session and appears to be ready to make his season debut on Thursday night against Colorado.
Nov 17 - 3:38 PM

Cody Eakin (knee) could be back in the lineup on Thursday.

He will take part in optional sessions to try to get ready to make his season debut. Eakin had 16 goals and 35 points in 82 games last year.
Nov 16 - 1:36 PM

Cody Eakin (knee) might be able to return in the near future.

Eakin won't play on Tuesday, but he's a possibility for Thursday's contest. Even if he misses Thursday's game, there's a good chance he'll be available on Saturday. He hasn't played yet in 2016-17.
Nov 15 - 1:33 PM

Cody Eakin might be two-to-three weeks away from returning from his knee injury.

He has been doing some light skating for now, but his workouts will probably ramp up shortly. Eakin hasn't played yet this season.
Oct 31 - 2:21 PM

Cody Eakin (knee) has been skating.

While that's a positive, Stars coach Lindy Ruff cautioned that Eakin is still "a ways away." Eakin was initially projected to return in early November and it's not clear if that's still on the table.
Oct 26 - 3:08 PM

Cody Eakin will miss the next six weeks with a knee injury.

The six week mark puts Eakin's return in early November. The 25-year-old is coming off three straight seasons of at least 16 goals and 35 points. However he's also seen his raw shot attempt totals drop sharply in that time, so we wouldn't put a lot of stock into him when he does come back unless your pool is especially deep.
Sep 24 - 2:34 PM

Cody Eakin suffered a low-body injury during Friday's skate.

Eakin will be kept off the ice Saturday as a result. His issue isn't believed to be a serious one and given that it's September it's entirely possible that Dallas would just rather have him rest anything minor rather than risk it lingering on.
Sep 23 - 5:35 PM

Cody Eakin scored the overtime winner for the Stars in Game 4 on Thursday night, sending the series with the Blues back to Dallas squared at two.

Eakin chose a great moment to score his first goal of the playoffs after picking up seven assists in nine post-season games so far. The 24-year-old has picked up the offensive slack left by Tyler Seguin and his injury. Jamie Benn and Jason Spezza each had two points to boost the Stars.
May 5 - 11:19 PM

Cody Eakin registered three assists in Sunday's 4-3 overtime loss to the St. Louis Blues.

Eakin set up all three of Dallas' goals in the game. Two of the three were primary assists. The 24-year-old has yet to find the back of the net in the playoffs, but he has picked up seven assists in eight games. He's an underrated part of the Stars' team.
May 1 - 7:27 PM

Cody Eakin didn't attend Tuesday's practice, but it was just a maintenance day for him.

He is expected to be back on the ice for the Stars' next session. Valeri Nichushkin, who was a healthy scratch in Game 6 against Minnesota, filled in for Eakin on the top line during Tuesday's practice.
Apr 26 - 1:55 PM

Cody Eakin picked up an assist in a 5-4 win over Minnesota in Game 6.

His helper came on a first-period tally by Patrick Sharp. Eakin and the Stars advanced into Round 2 on Sunday and he registered four assists in the series.
Apr 25 - 10:21 AM

Cody Eakin is projected to center the top line on Thursday in the Stars' playoff opener against Minnesota.

He finished the regular season alongside Jamie Benn and he will start the postseason there as well. Eakin didn't record a point in the last eight games of the year, but playing between Benn and Patrick Sharp still makes him an intriguing option for playoff pools and daily fantasy.
Apr 14 - 1:59 PM

Cody Eakin has five goals and nine points in his last seven games.

Eakin has been playing with Jamie Benn because Tyler Seguin is out with a cut Achilles. Obviously Benn is an offensive force and Eakin has done a great job of taking advantage of this opportunity. There's a good chance Eakin will stay hot for the remainder of the season, but if you're getting ready for a playoff pool you'll want to keep in mind that Seguin should be back for the postseason. It's not clear what will happen then, but there's a good chance that Seguin will take his old top-line spot and Eakin will center the third unit.
