Cody Eakin moved up to the top line on Tuesday between Jamie Benn and Tyler Seguin.

He earned an assist on Seguin's 17th goal of the season. The line mixing moved Valeri Nichushkin to a combination with Patrick Sharp and Jason Spezza. Coach Lindy Ruff likes to shake up his lines, so it's unclear how long these changes will stick.

Cody Eakin picked up a pair of assists in Saturday's 4-3 win over the Minnesota Wild.

The Stars found themselves down 3-0 going into the third period, but they got goals from Alex Goligoski, Jamie Benn and John Klingberg to force overtime. Cody Eakin netted his fifth goal of the season in Sunday's 4-1 win over Detroit.

Eakin's goal came short handed and in to an empty net, but it all counts just the same. The 24-year-old center is about on pace for his career averages, nearly half a point a game now as he has six in 15 this season.

Cody Eakin, a natural centerman, will continue to play wing on Dallas' second line.

He will lineup, as he has done for the past few games, alongside Jason Spezza and Valeri Nichushkin. This is a good spot for Eakin, far better than a third-line role he was earmarked for at the beginning of the season. Eakins is a nice replacement forward in most hockey pools regardless of depth.

Cody Eakin notched a goal and added an assist in Thursday's 5-3 win against Tampa Bay.

He has produced three goals and four points in his last three games. Eakin is back on the third line, but he still gets power-play time and can be productive in a number of roles. Just keep in mind that his pace will slow and something in the 30-40 point range will probably be what he ends up with when the season is over.

Cody Eakin tallied two goals in the Stars’ 6-3 loss to the Avalanche on Saturday night.

Eakins played 18:12 and also had four shots on goal. He scored once while on the power play. The question for him is whether the Stars’ style and talent will help him become more than around a 20-goal, 40-point guy. He’ll need to show it for a little longer for us to believe. Mattias Janmark scored the other goal, while Jason Demers got two assists.

Cody Eakin will start the campaign on the Stars' top line.

Eakin's will have the enviable assignment of playing between Jamie Benn and Tyler Seguin. If he can maintain that role then he'll likely take a step up from his 19 goals and 40 points during the 2014-15 campaign.

Cody Eakin skated between Jamie Benn and Tyler Seguin at Tuesday's practice.

That trio saw time together for parts of the 2014-15 campaign, so it wouldn't be surprising if they were reunited for the start of this season. "There's a couple things I am looking at, some of it is matchups for Thursday night (against Pittsburgh)," coach Lindy Ruff said. "Some of it is where players played and how they played at the end of last year. Some of it is distributing some of our grit amongst the lines." Another line that was featured Tuesday was newcomer Patrick Sharp alongside Jason Spezza and Valeri Nichushkin.

Cody Eakin believes that his new contract extension will get his season started on the right foot.

Eakin didn't have a contract going into 2014-15 and he missed a good chunk of training camp because of it. He subsequently got off to a slow start before rounding into form later on. "I don’t think anyone was happy how last season started, so this is much better," Eakin said. "I definitely think that getting this done is a positive. I think we’re entering an important time for the team, and I’m excited to be a part of it."

Eakin scored via a penalty shot with 56 seconds left in the game. He now has four points over his past four games, with 18 goals and 38 points on the year. He could be worth a late flier in fantasy leagues next season. Colton Sceviour and Travis Moen each potted a goal and added an assist. Tyler Seguin rounded out the scoring.

Cody Eakin is projected to skate between Tyler Seguin and Jamie Benn again on Monday night.

Coach Lindy Ruff has liked using Seguin on the wing of late, so Eakin has been able to serve as the center of the top line. He had two assists in Saturday's 4-3 overtime win over Vancouver.

Cody Eakin will center Dallas' top line Saturday night against the Blackhawks.

He will play between Jamie Benn and Tyler Seguin. That's a pretty good place to be, even against a tough Hawks' squad. We would start Eakin Saturday night given his placement in the lineup.
