Pavel Datsyuk (twice) and Tomas Tatar scored the other goals for Detroit.
Oct 31 - 10:20 PM

Gustav Nyquist is expected to shift to the Red Wings' second line on Tuesday.

Nyquist had been playing alongside Henrik Zetterberg, but that will change now that Pavel Datsyuk is back. Instead, Nyquist will join Tomas Tatar and Riley Sheahan. Tatar and Sheahan have gotten off to slow starts this season, but it will be interesting to see what the young trio can do.

Gustav Nyquist skated alongside Riley Sheahan and Tomas Tatar on Monday.

Tomas Jurco was bumped to the third line as the Red Wings shuffled their combinations due to the pending return of Pavel Datsyuk. Nyquist leads Detroit with four goals in five games this season and he should add a jolt of offense to the team's "Kid Line."
Oct 21 - 9:28 AM

Gustav Nyquist has played a bigger role with Detroit so far this season, because of the injury to Pavel Datsyuk. Nyquist has impressed many in the organization.

"He's good," coach Mike Babcock said. "He's just good. He's confident. He creates space when he has the puck, he goes faster than when he doesn't have the puck. He's got great skill with it, but he's got confidence with it, so it goes slow for him and fast for other guys. He just flat-out finishes." Nyquist has four goals and five points in five games this season.
Oct 19 - 11:11 AM

Gustav Nyquist scored his third goal of the season as he and the Detroit Red Wings fell 3-2 in a shootout to the visiting Boston Bruins Wednesday night.

Nyquist's power-play goal 2:56 into the third tied the game 2-2. He beat Boston goalie Tuukka Rask with a wrist shot from the top of the right circle high on the stick side. The right winger has been one of the few bright spots for the Red Wings in the early part of the NHL season. The Wings have been suffering from a lack of scoring. Tomas Tatar picked up his first goal of the season for Detroit's other marker Wednesday. .
Oct 15 - 11:58 PM

Gustav Nyquist will skate with Henrik Zetterberg and Johan Franzen in Wednesday's match against Boston.

Justin Abdelkader will take Nyquist's place on a line with Darren Helm and Andrej Nestrasil. He has two goals in two games this year.
Oct 15 - 5:31 PM

Gustav Nyquist has two goals in two games this season.

"He finds ways to score goals," captain Henrik Zetterberg said after Saturday's 3-2 loss to the Ducks. "I think he had a tough preseason, but now when it matters, he comes through and scores goals." Nyquist's power-play marker was the game winner against Boston last Thursday and he found the back of the net versus the Ducks as well. He has been playing with Darren Helm and Andrej Nestrasil to open the season, but that could change once Pavel Datsyuk is ready to return from injury.
Oct 13 - 7:30 AM

Gustav Nyquist tickled the twine in the Red Wings’ 3-2 loss to the Ducks on Saturday night.

Nyquist had 28 goals on an unsustainable 18.3 percent shooting percentage last season, but he’s really starting to prove he has a nose for the net in the NHL, with two more already this season. Luke Glendening got the other goal. Justin Abdelkader, Niklas Kronwall, Henrik Zetterberg and Johan Franzen chipped in with the helpers.
Oct 11 - 10:13 PM

Gustav Nyquist (knee) will be in the lineup for Detroit on Wednesday night.

He was hurt in a knee-on-knee collision on Saturday and missed Monday's preseason contest as a result, but he'll play against Pittsburgh.
Oct 1 - 11:05 AM

Gustav Nyquist will miss Monday's preseason game due to a sore knee.

Nyquist sustained the injury during Saturday's contest. "It's scary when it happens to your knee," he said. "But it feels better today and it's improved and that's a good sign." He might be back Wednesday.
Sep 29 - 4:45 PM

Detroit GM Ken Holland doesn't expect Gustav Nyquist to miss much time after he was hurt on a knee-on-knee hit in Saturday's preseason contest versus Boston.

"Dr. Plagens said there was no significant injury," Holland said Sunday afternoon. "I'm assuming he's sore, but Gus hasn't reached out to anybody saying his knee has ballooned up. It looked scary at the time but the initial word is that it looks like a day-to-day, short-term injury." We'll keep you posted on his recovery as the regular season is just around the corner.
Sep 29 - 9:42 AM

Gustav Nyquist suffered an undisclosed injury in the final minute of Saturday’s game.

There’s no word on what the injury is or how it occurred. General manager Ken Holland says it looks like Nyquist will be OK, but the team will learn more Sunday. When it comes to injuries, Detroit is picking right where it left off last season. Nyquist is a key player for the Red Wings, with 28 goals and 48 points in his first full extended run in the NHL (57 games). He is expected to play on one of the team's top two lines.
Sep 27 - 10:01 PM

Detroit coach Mike Babcock is trying to temper his expectations for Gustav Nyquist.

"I don't know if he's going to score that many goals, but he's going to get that many points," said Babcock. Nyquist scored 28 goals and he had 48 points in 57 games last campaign. He's projected to start the season in the Red Wings' top-six group, which carries more responsibility and Babcock wants to see consistency. "If you're a top-six forward, you've got to play 200 feet and you've got to do it every single night and you've got to be mentally tough," said Detroit's bench boss. "And if you're a bottom-six forward, maybe you don't have to be dialed in as much. But those guys, even in the bottom six, they're worker bees."
