Gustav Nyquist has heated up since moving to a line with Henrik Zetterberg and Anthony Mantha.
He has produced three goals and three assists in the past four games. It's been a disappointing season for Nyquist, who has seven markers and 24 points in 45 games, but his recent hot streak is encouraging. He could be in store for a much better second half. Jan 20 - 8:08 AM

The Wings' talented forward has scored only one goal in Detroit's last 22 games. That's just not going to cut it. Many had predicted that Nyquist would rebound in 2016-17 after a lackluster 2015-16 campaign in which he scored only 17 goals and registered 43 points. So far, it does not appear that Nyquist is going to get back to his 2014-15 form of 54 points.

"And I think that goes for a lot of guys in this room, right now. You've just got to try to stay positive and work hard, and hopefully you get a goal and get going." Gustav Nyquist has gotten off to a red hot start with three goals and seven points in six games.

The hope is that Nyquist can not only bounce back from his rough 2015-16 campaign, but also surpass his career-high of 54 points set in 2014-15. It's still very early, so his success thus far has to be taken with a grain of salt, but this would be a particularly good season for him to step up given that Detroit is adapting to life without Pavel Datsyuk.

After dropping two, the Wings are on a current four-race winning streak. Nyquist scored one goal and had an assist Friday night against the Predators.

The only Detroit line that is producing any offense is the Gustav Nyquist-Darren Helm-Thomas Vanek unit.

In fact that line is responsible for three out of the four even-strength goals the Red Wings have tallied over their first two games, both losses. Detroit coach Jeff Blashill when asked about his team's play had this to say: "We need more than that [Nyquist line] top to bottom. It starts with getting out our zone and it puts the onus as a team to do a better job of getting out of our zone". Nyquist, Vanek and possibly Helm should be active in deep pools based on their performance to date.
