Gustav Nyquist picked up his sixth goal of the season during Sunday's 4-1 to Dallas.

Such sweet hands. Nyquist beautifully redirected a Niklas Kronwall feed through Kari Lehtonen's five-hole to cut the deficit to 2-1. Unfortunately, that was all Nyquist could contribute has he had just one other shot on net and was a minus-three.

Gustav Nyquist picked up two more point sin Saturday's 5-3 victory over the Senators.

With the goal and the assist, Nyquist now has five goals and nine points in 11 games thus far. What's more, he's failed to register a point in just three games. Mighty impressive to say the least.
Oct 31 - 11:25 PM

Gustav Nyquist notched the overtime game-winning goal for the Red Wings in their 3-2 victory against the Canucks on Saturday night.

The Red Wings needed a win, badly, and they did it in one of those confidence-building ways in erasing a 2-0 deficit. Nyquist picked a good time for his fourth goal of the season; Petr Mrazek got the assist. Tomas Tatar (goal, assist) and Teemu Pulkkinen got the other goals. Detroit was in a 0-3-1 rut entering this game.

Gustav Nyquist wants to be a good two-way player.

"I want to produce offense for this team. That is one of my roles," Nyquist said. "But if you look around the league and our team, the best players, our best players, are the ones who play both ends of the ice very well." He wants to model his game after teammates Henrik Zetterberg and Pavel Datsyuk. For the last two games, Nyquist has been playing with Riley Sheahan and Teemu Pulkkinen. He has two goals and three points in five games this year.

He opened the scoring on a second-period power play to help the Red Wings register a 3-1 victory against Tampa Bay. Nyquist racked up 14 goals with the man advantage last season, which tied him for third in the league. He has two points in three games to start the 2015-16 campaign.
Oct 14 - 7:59 AM

Detroit is looking for Gustav Nyquist and Tomas Tatar to elevate their games now and in the future.

The talented wingers are expected to be focal points of the offense again and some are already calling them the eventual successors of aging stars Pavel Datsyuk and Henrik Zetterberg. "It's a challenge, but it's something me and Tats want to do eventually," said Nyquist. "We've had great role models to look up to, the leadership — Pav and Hank lead and are everyday players and that's something both of us strive to be. That's another step hopefully we can move closer to this year and take on a bigger role." Nyquist received a four-year contract in the summer after getting close to the 30-goal mark for a second consecutive season.

Red Wings GM Ken Holland was happy that he and Gustav Nyquist were able to agree on a new four-year contract.

"We're very happy to have Gustav locked up for four more years," general manager Ken Holland said. "He's quickly become an important part of our team, and is a critical piece to the Red Wings' future. He is just now entering the prime of his career." Nyquist had filed for salary arbitration, but the two sides will now avoid that entire process.
Jul 11 - 9:45 AM

Gustav Nyquist has signed a four-year, $19 million contract with the Detroit Red Wings.

Nyquist was a restricted free agent and had filed for salary arbitration. That seems like a pretty reasonable price for him given that he's scored 28 and 27 goals in 2013-14 and 2014-15 respectively. Last season, he also had 27 assists while playing a full 82 contests. We wouldn't count on the 25-year-old taking another big leap forward, but even if he just treads water, he won't look out of place at a cap hit of $4.75 million annually.
Jul 10 - 3:04 PM

Detroit Red Wings RFA forward Gustav Nyquist filed for salary arbitration on Friday.

Nyquist had a career year for the Red Wings in 2014-15, scoring 27 goals and 54 points which ranked second and fourth respectively on the team. The 25-year-old just finished a two-year contract that dinged the cap at $950K, Detroit meanwhile has about $4.2M in cap space and a few key other RFA's yet to sign. Nyquist put up 55 goals and 102 points in just a 139 games over this past contract, so arbitration figures to be kind to him should the two sides fail to reach an agreement first.

Gustav Nyquist won TSN's play-of-the-year showdown.

He won over 60 percent of the vote to beat Anaheim's Ryan Kesler in the final round of the bracket-style tournament. A member of the Detroit Red Wings has won this title for three years in a row. Nyquist's entry was his overtime goal against Ottawa on December 27th when he circled the offensive zone with the puck on his stick for nearly 28 seconds before scoring.
Jun 18 - 11:01 AM

Gustav Nyquist broke a 12-game playoff scoring drought with his marker in Game 4 against the Lightning Thursday night.

It was quite the drought stemming back to last season for the talented winger. If Detroit is going to connitnue its playoff run, Nyquist is going to have to be an offensive factor.
Apr 25 - 10:20 AM

Gustav Nyquist scored his first goal of the playoffs in Thursday night's Game 4 loss to the Tampa Bay Lightning.

Nyquist had 27 goals and 54 points during the regular season, and now has two in four post-season games. Nyquist is already better off than last year, when he was held pointless by the Bruins in five games. The 25-year-old's goal was not enough to spur Detroit, as the Wings blew a late lead and let Tampa tie the series 2-2.
