The Kings were on the wrong end of a 5-4 decision to Dallas but you could not blame Muzzin for the loss. He has 10 points in his last eight games and owned in only 44 percent of Yahoo pools. After going his first seven games with nary a point, he has really picked it up and should be owned in all fantasy pools.

Muzzin missed the first six games of the season with an upper body injury and played 20:20 minutes in his seasonal debut. "I thought it was a great game," Muzzin said. "I’ve got to work a little better on some of the rush and gaps, but other than that I thought it was a pretty solid game to get back into it and play." Muzzin saw time on the power play and penalty kill as well. He had 24 points and 58 penalty minutes last season so if you are looking for an extra defenseman in deeper leagues, Muzzin could be your man.

Los Angeles Kings head coach Darryl Sutter said that Jake Muzzin will probably get an X-Ray for his upper-body injury on Thursday.

"He looks fine, but it hasn’t changed in terms of the same thing we said before," Sutter told LA Kings Insider. "It’s not coaches making the decision or a player making the decision. Doctors are going to [make the decision], so just wait." Although Muzzin is most appreciated in "fancy stats" terms, he's still a solid deeper defensemen. He scored 24 points and generated 58 PIM last season.

Jake Muzzin has signed a five-year, $20 million contract extension with the Los Angele Kings.

He generated five goals and 24 points in 76 games last season. Muzzin hasn't been able to play yet in 2014-15 because of an upper-body injury.

Muzzin took part in some intense drills, which he admitted he probably shouldn't have done. "You want to play, so you do them," Muzzin said. "You've just got to wait until it heals, so it doesn't create a bigger issue down the road." He's been frustrated by the injury and it's not clear when he'll be allowed to play.
