Jake Muzzin (upper body) said he feels almost 100 percent, but coach Darryl Sutter stated that the defenseman was doubtful for the season opener.

"It's an injury where it's not going to get worse, so something like that, I think we're good to go," said Muzzin after skating on Monday. "If you push it a little too hard, you may feel something for a little bit, but then it goes away, it's fine. I want to play. I don't want to not start the season sitting in the stands. I want to play." The Kings begin the regular season on Wednesday night versus San Jose.
Oct 6 - 4:34 PM

Jake Muzzin (upper body) believes he will be fine for Los Angeles' season opener.

Muzzin was hurt during Sunday's contest and has been regarded as day-to-day. He didn't attend Thursday's practice, but he skated afterwards.
Oct 1 - 4:45 PM

Jake Muzzin sustained an upper-body injury during Sunday's preseason contest.

Muzzin sustained the injury when he was hit into the boards by Avalanche's Blake Comeau midway through the first period. Muzzin initially stayed in the game, but didn't appear beyond the first frame. It's unclear at this time if Muzzin's injury is serious.
Sep 28 - 6:22 AM

Jake Muzzin will join Team Canada for the first time in his career for May's World Hockey Championships in the Czech Republic.

The 26 year old Muzzin is coming off a career year, posting 10 goals and 41 points while skating 22:42 over 76 games for the LA Kings this season.
Apr 14 - 8:55 PM

Apr 3 - 10:55 AM

Jake Muzzin stayed hot as he scored the Kings' only goal during Monday's 4-1 loss to the Blackhawks.

Muzzin now has points in five of his last seven games, with two goals and five points during that span. He finishes March with three goals and 10 points over 15 games. For the season, Muzzin has nine goals and 38 points, trailing only Drew Doughty by a trio for the most points from the blue line on the team.
Mar 31 - 1:13 AM

Jake Muzzin had an assist in the Kings' 3-1 victory against New Jersey on Monday.

Muzzin has seven goals and 35 points in 66 games in 2014-15. He's taken a big step up this season after recording 24 points in his previous campaign. He should stay strong in the final weeks of the regular season and might even reach the 40-point mark.
Mar 24 - 11:05 AM

Jake Muzzin recorded two assists in a 4-3 shootout win over Montreal.

It was Muzzin's 30th and 31st points of the 2014-15 campaign. The 26-year-old has already shattered his previous career-high of 24 points in 76 contests and is likely to continue his current offensive pace for the remainder of the campaign. That pace should result in him flirting with the 40-point mark.
Mar 6 - 11:04 AM

Jake Muzzin thinks Thursday's game against Calgary is a "must win" for Los Angeles.

The Kings have certainly put themselves into a position where they badly need those two points. Calgary currently controls the second Wild Card spot and Los Angeles is behind them by five points. So this is an obvious opportunity for the Kings to close to gap, but of course a loss would be a devastating swing in the other direction. Los Angeles is 0-1-2 against Calgary in 2014-15 and this is the final meeting between these two squads.
Feb 12 - 9:21 AM

Jake Muzzin picked up an assist on Saturday and set a career high in points with 25.

Muzzin has been struggling of late so it was a nice respite for the blueliner to set the record. He has six goals and 19 assists this season and could see a bit more ice time if the injury to Alec Martinez is long term.
Feb 8 - 9:28 AM

Jake Muzzin scored a goal in a 4-3 victory over the Chicago Blackhawks.

Muzzin has six goals and 17 assists in 42 contests in 2014-15. That puts him just one point shy of his previous career high of 24. Los Angeles still has 34 games remaining in its schedule.
Jan 29 - 9:26 AM

Jake Muzzin only logged 3:31 minutes in the third period of Los Angeles' 4-3 loss to the New York Rangers.

"He refused to check," Kings coach Darryl Sutter said of his decision to limit Muzzin's role late in the game. "You don't get played for what you did last year or last week or somewhere else. It's how you’re playing tonight." Muzzin has been averaging 23:33 minutes per game this season and we imagine Sutter will go back to using him liberally when Los Angeles plays on Saturday. Muzzin has five goals and 20 points in 35 games this season.
Jan 9 - 10:46 AM

Jake Muzzin scored a goal in a 3-2 shootout loss to Edmonton on Tuesday.

Muzzin has five goals and 18 points in 32 games this season. Barring an injury, he should comfortably surpass his previous career-high of 24 points.
Wed, Dec 31, 2014 10:34:00 AM

Jake Muzzin had a goal on Friday and now has four points in his last two games.

Muzzin has two goals and 15 points in his last 17 games as he started the season pointless in his first six games. He is a must start in fantasy pools as he is the top Kings blueliner offensively at this time.
