Jake Muzzin fired six shots at John Gibson, but none of them managed to get past the stingy netminder as the Anaheim Ducks defeated the LA Kings 4-0 Tuesday night.

This was twice the performance as Muzzin has had on any previous night this season. He fired three unsuccessful shots against the Vancouver Canucks on October 22nd for a previous best. His only point of the season was earned in the October 27th 3-2 victory over the Nashville Predators when he scored late in the second period.

The plan is for Jake Muzzin to open the season on the top pairing with Drew Doughty.

Muzzin and Doughty spend part of the 2015-16 campaign together, but Muzzin logged far more time with Alec Martinez. For now Doughty and Muzzin are both serving Team Canada in the World Cup and they've been paired together there as well.

Among Canada's richest in pure talent, Muzzin is surely the one is not like the others. In name-recognition, anyway. The talented young defender for the LA Kings has a stout resume himself but will have to wait his turn to debut in the 2016 World Cup of Hockey.

Jake Muzzin has been named to Canada's World Cup roster.

Brent Burns and Alex Pietrangelo were also added to the team's defense corps on Friday, while Claude Giroux, Matt Duchene, Brad Marchand and Joe Thornton were selected to join the forward group.

Jake Muzzin collected a pair of helpers during Game 5 against San Jose on Friday night.

The Kings however would go on to lose 6-3, ending their season. Muzzin finishes his postseason with four assists and five points in five games.

Thanks to his goal on Thursday night, Jake Muzzin is now riding a three game point streak with points in four of his last five games.

It was a pretty goal too. After Vincent Lecavalier did some dirty work along the half-wall, Muzzin took the feed and walked in, he faked a shot then picked off the far bar through a screen. He now has five goals and 20 points on the season. The Kings would go on to beat the Maple Leafs 2-1.
