Jake Muzzin isn't happy with how the 2016-17 campaign has gone for him.

Muzzin has seven goals, 18 points, and a minus-17 rating in 58 games this season. That's after he reached the 40-point mark in each of his previous two campaigns. "It’s tough to answer because it’s not the level of play I want to be playing at," he said. "I mean, I’ve kind of been struggling with the consistency of the game. I’ve just got to get back to the basics and what makes me a good player and get my foundation back and go from there." He might still rebound to some extent, but he certainly hasn't started that as he has an assist and minus-eight rating in his last seven contests.

Jake Muzzin has been a minus-12 in 2017.

He is a minus-17 overall this season and that destroys his fantasy value as he has seven goals and 18 points. He has four goals and seven points on the power play but if you are in a traditional pool, Muzzin has been a disappointment.
Feb 19 - 5:57 AM

Jake Muzzin scored the game winning goal as the Kings beat the Coyotes 3-2 Tuesday night.

That was Muzzin’s first goal in eight games. The last time the defenseman found the back of the net was when he scored twice in a 5-1 win over the Blues January 12. Muzzin also recorded five hits and one block in the game.

Jake Muzzin scored twice to lead the Kings to a 5-1 win over St. Louis on Thursday.

Muzzin's goals were his fifth and sixth of the campaign. He opened the game with a power-play goal 3:18 into the game which really set the tone for a complete Kings dominance on this night. The steady defender filled the stat sheet with five shots on goal, two blocks and couple of penalty minutes in being named the game's first star. That's five points in his last five games.
Jan 13 - 2:06 AM

Jake Muzzin had a goal and an assist during Saturday's 4-3 overtime win over the Wild.

Muzzin's goal was his fourth of the season. He reached 40 in 2015-16 and had 41 points in 2014-15, but this year has been a disappointment so far.
Jan 7 - 8:02 PM

Jake Muzzin picked up his third point of the season during Saturday's 4-2 win over the Devils.

Muzzin now has two goals through 19 games this season. He's coming off of four straight years of growth, including consecutive seasons in the 40's. Expect him to turn it up a notch soon.

Jake Muzzin fired six shots at John Gibson, but none of them managed to get past the stingy netminder as the Anaheim Ducks defeated the LA Kings 4-0 Tuesday night.

This was twice the performance as Muzzin has had on any previous night this season. He fired three unsuccessful shots against the Vancouver Canucks on October 22nd for a previous best. His only point of the season was earned in the October 27th 3-2 victory over the Nashville Predators when he scored late in the second period.

Jake Muzzin will be scratched against Russia in Saturday's semi-final.

Kings fans may not appreciate coach Mike Babcock's decision to sit their best defender not named Drew Doughty, but it's tough to change a winning lineup in an elimination game.

The plan is for Jake Muzzin to open the season on the top pairing with Drew Doughty.

Muzzin and Doughty spend part of the 2015-16 campaign together, but Muzzin logged far more time with Alec Martinez. For now Doughty and Muzzin are both serving Team Canada in the World Cup and they've been paired together there as well.

Jake Muzzin will be scratched from Saturday's opening-day match with the Czech Republic.

Among Canada's richest in pure talent, Muzzin is surely the one is not like the others. In name-recognition, anyway. The talented young defender for the LA Kings has a stout resume himself but will have to wait his turn to debut in the 2016 World Cup of Hockey.
