Roman Wick will need to be very impressive at Senators' training camp if he's going to earn a spot with the team.

Head Coach Cory Clouston commented on his chances, saying "He's no different than a lot of the other guys. He needs to make decisions very difficult for us. He needs to show us he can play." The Swiss-born forward was impressive at the 2010 Olympics and appears to be in a battle with Bobby Butler for the final spot in Ottawa's top nine forwards.

The Ottawa Senators have signed Roman Wick to a one-year/two-way contract.

No financial terms were announced. The Senators selected Wick in the 2004 Entry Draft, 156th overall, but after spending two seasons in the WHL, Wick returned to Switzerland where he has played the last four seasons with Kloten. Wick had 15 goals and 31 points in 2009-10 and led all Swiss players in scoring at the Olympics with two goals and five points in five games. Wick could surprise this season and crack the Sens lineup. Pay attention to him during training camp.

Roman Wick notched a goal and two assists in Switzerland's 5-4 overtime win over Norway on Saturday afternoon.

Wick was drafted by the Ottawa Senators back in 2004, but he has never made the jump over to the NHL. He has been in the Swiss league for the past four years after playing in the Western Hockey League for three seasons with the Red Deer Rebels and Lethbridge Hurricanes. Mathias Seger collected two assists for Switzerland in the contest, while Raffaele Sannitz posted a goal and a helper.
