Nashville coach Peter Laviolette told local radio station 94.9 Game 2 that Carter Hutton would get the call for Thursday's game versus Ottawa.

The Predators' backup goalie has played in just two games this season and his last appearance came on Nov. 4 against Winnipeg. Hutton has good peripherals, with a .935 save percentage and a 1.95 GAA, but he hasn't picked up a win yet this season.

You can’t ask for much more from your backup goalie on the road. Hutton and the Predators ended up losing in overtime while on the power play. According to the Blackhawks’ TV broadcast, the goal ends the Predators' 105-game streak of not giving up a shorthanded goal. As long as Pekka Rinne stays healthy, Hutton will only get a handful of starts this season.

Carter Hutton has agreed to a two-year, $1.45 million contract with the Nashville Predators.

He will earn $700,000 in 2014-15 and $750,000 in 2015-16. Hutton posted a 20-11-4 record with a 2.62 goals-against average, a .910 save percentage and one shutout this past season. He earned the starting job for the team with Pekka Rinne on the sidelines and will serve as Nashville's number two netminder in 2014-15.
