Carter Hutton allowed just two goals on 27 shots Tuesday, but was saddled with a loss in a 2-1 overtime defeat against the Canadiens.
Hutton was pulled from his last start, a loss to the Red Wings, and it was uncertain whether he or Marek Mazanec would get the nod against Montreal. Despite suffering a loss, he played well enough to earn another assignment in the Predators next game. Jan 20 - 11:33 PM

Carter Hutton will be in Nashville's crease Tuesday night versus Montreal.

He will be looking to bounce back after he was pulled in a 5-2 loss to Detroit on Saturday. Hutton gave up three goals on just four shots, but he was good against Washington the night before.
Jan 20 - 4:48 PM

Carter Hutton gave up three goals and didn’t make it out of the first period in Saturday’s game against the Red Wings.

Three goals on four shots — great individual efforts on the first one, followed by a few odd bounces on the next and a screen on the third. Hutton lasted 12:32 before getting yanked, more so to try to change the momentum than anything else. Hutton has a .892 save percentage and a goals-against average of 3.03. Marek Mazanec entered in relief.
Jan 17 - 7:46 PM

There is a good chance that Carter Hutton will get the start against the Red Wings Saturday night.

Hutton won his first game of the season Friday night stopping 31 of 34 shots against the Capitals and may be back at it Saturday night against Detroit. He will certainly get the majority of the playing time over Marek Mazanec until Pekka Rinne returns from injury.
Jan 17 - 1:47 PM

Carter Hutton made 31 saves on 34 shots in Friday's 4-3 win over Washington.

Hutton will see an increased workload now that starter Pekka Rinne is expected to miss three-to-five weeks because of a knee injury. This was Hutton's first win of the 2014-15 season. The Predators have been a pleasant surprise this year, and they have now won five straight games. Rinne's absence will definitely affect the Predators in a negative way, but don't expect Nashville to completely fall apart without him. Hutton is 1-3-2, and he has a 2.66 goals-against-average and a .907 save percentage.
Jan 17 - 12:22 AM

Carter Hutton will tend to Nashville's crease on Friday against the Washington Capitals.

Number one goaltender Pekka Rinne will be sidelined for three-to-five weeks with a knee injury. Hutton has a 0-3-2 record to go with a .905 save percentage and a 2.60 goals-against average in six appearances this year. He may have to compete with Marek Mazanec for starts while Rinne is injured.
Jan 16 - 2:24 PM

Carter Hutton stopped 30 of 33 shots in Sunday's 4-3 shootout loss to Anaheim.

The Predators had a one goal lead with less than three minutes remaining in regulation, when Ducks' defenseman Francois Beauchemin tied the game. Hutton was also beat by Jakob Silfverberg and Ryan Kesler in the shootout. Hutton has an 0-3-2 record with 2.75 goals-against-average and a .899 save percentage this season.
Jan 4 - 11:25 PM

Carter Hutton will get the start Sunday night against the Anaheim Ducks.

This will be only Hutton's fifth start of the season. He has allowed 11 goals on 105 shots. Last season, Hutton had a .910 save percentage and 2.62 GAA in 33 starts and 40 games.
Jan 4 - 7:36 PM

Carter Hutton was beaten four times on 24 shots in a 5-3 loss to the Bruins Tuesday night.

Hutton received just his fourth start of the season in place of the heavily-worked Pekka Rinne and still remains without a win on the year. He holds a 0-3-1 record to go along with a 2.75 GAA and an .895 save percentage. He'll likely get a lost of rest before his next starting assignment.

Carter Hutton is probable to start Tuesday in Boston.

Pekka Rinne started Monday's win over Columbus and Hutton hasn't played since Nov. 20. For all the brilliance Nashville has performed this season, one mainstay from the Barry Trotz era has been a complete lack of goals against. That's right the Preds have allowed the fewest goals (65 through 32 games) the NHL this season. The Bruins rank 21st with 86 goals for through 34 games, which may make Hutton a better than expected start tonight.

Carter Hutton stopped 16 of 19 shots for the Preds in a 3-2 loss to Ottawa on Thursday night.

Hutton is winless in three games this season but has a decent .914 save percentage and 2.32 goals against average for Nashville. Hutton's playing time has been severely reduced due to the re-emergence of Pekka Rinne's superstardom.

Nashville coach Peter Laviolette told local radio station 94.9 Game 2 that Carter Hutton would get the call for Thursday's game versus Ottawa.

The Predators' backup goalie has played in just two games this season and his last appearance came on Nov. 4 against Winnipeg. Hutton has good peripherals, with a .935 save percentage and a 1.95 GAA, but he hasn't picked up a win yet this season.
Thu, Nov 20, 2014 10:16:00 AM

Starting in place of the resting Pekka Rinne, Carter Hutton stopped 23 of 25 shots in a 3-1 loss to Winnipeg Tuesday night.

It was only the second start of the season for Hutton since Rinne has proven to be such a workhorse, but the outcome of the game isn't an indication of how he played. His record falls to 0-1-1 with the defeat.

Carter Hutton is expected to start for Nashville on Tuesday.

Hutton will be making his second start of the season. He's a decent backup goaltender, but the Predators will lean heavily on Pekka Rinne throughout the season. It would take an injury to Rinne for that to change.
Tue, Nov 4, 2014 02:05:00 PM

Carter Hutton made 35 saves in Nashville’s 2-1 loss to Chicago on Saturday night.

You can’t ask for much more from your backup goalie on the road. Hutton and the Predators ended up losing in overtime while on the power play. According to the Blackhawks’ TV broadcast, the goal ends the Predators' 105-game streak of not giving up a shorthanded goal. As long as Pekka Rinne stays healthy, Hutton will only get a handful of starts this season.
