Oct 24 - 2:29 PM

Carter Hutton stopped 33 shots and let two past in the 3-2 victory of the St Louis Blues over the New York Rangers Saturday night.

Hutton’s save percentage of .943 was notably better than the lead netminder for this team. Jake Allen had a .913 in 2014-15 with the Blues and .920 last year. Then again, this was a step up for Hutton as well. He recorded a .918 with the Predators last year and .902 in 2014-15, so this might be attributable to puck luck.

Carter Hutton will play between the pipes on Saturday.

It's a bit interesting that Jake Allen was asked to start on back-to-back days if the plan was to give Hutton an early season start, but the results were in St. Louis' favor as Allen was solid in two straight wins. Either way, Hutton had a strong showing during the Blues' training camp and that's why the backup is getting a start at this stage of the campaign. "It's an early reward for a job well done in training camp," Blues coach Ken Hitchcock said. "He did a great job during training camp; he was outstanding. And he's part of our team moving forward. We've got to get him in the action as quickly as possible to be honest with you."
Oct 14 - 3:43 PM

Carter Hutton has made a very favorabale impression on Blues' coach Ken Hitchcock so far.

The Blues' new backup goalie, according to Hitch has been one of the btter players in camp so far. "Hutton's been the surprise of camp," Hitchcock said. "He's been excellent for us. ... It's a real feather in his cap, a feather in the goalie scouts' camp. He looks like a guy that can really help us and is going to really help us." Although Hutton isn't expected to play often as Jake Allen will start about 60 games, it is good to know that Hitchcock seems to have faith in his backup netminder.
Oct 2 - 2:15 PM

Carter Hutton gave up three goals and Jordan Binnington let one slip past in the St. Louis Blues 4-0 loss to the Chicago Blackhawks.

In 2015-16 both goalies had save percentages greater than 0.900 with Hutton stopping .0918 with the Predators and Binnington showcasing his talent in the AHL’s Chicago Wolves. I have a hard time arguing against that." Nashville announced the re-signing of Marek Mazanec on Monday and he could be the team's backup goalie next year.
Jun 13 - 11:57 AM

Carter Hutton would like to stay with the Nashville Predators.

"The unknown starts now," said Hutton, who can become an unrestricted free agent in July. "It's something I've been through numerous times now. Obviously, this situation is a lot different than years past. I've kind of established myself and had a pretty strong year. Obviously, I play in a tough situation here. That's my job. ... I love Nashville. I want to be in Nashville, so hopefully we can figure something out here to make me stay." After the Sharks made it 5-2 in the final minute of play, starter Pekka Rinne did not come out to finish the game. Rather Hutton was given the honors, though he did not face any shots. Rinne does not appear to be injured, so we wouldn't expect to see much more of Hutton.
