Patrick Wiercioch got his first goal with the Avalanche on Monday night in a 4-3 overtime win against Pittsburgh.

He tied the game at 2-2 after the Penguins jumped out to a 2-0 lead before the midway point of the first period. Wiercioch has notched a goal and an assist in his first two games with Colorado.

Patrick Wiercioch did not get a qualifying offer so he will be an unrestricted free agent on July 1.

The move was expected after the Senators were unsuccessful in their attempts to trade him at the draft. Wiercioch posted just five assists in 52 games with Ottawa last season, but he could have some value to other clubs as a depth defender.

It's believed the Senators have told Wiercioch that they will likely pass on giving him a $2.7-million qualifying offer, which would make him an unrestricted free agent.

The Ottawa Senators reportedly aren't likely to provide Patrick Wiercioch with a qualifying offer.

Wiercioch would be a restricted free agent if Ottawa qualified him, but it seems the Senators are content to let him enter the open market. He had no goals and five assists in 52 games in 2015-16. If Ottawa did want to qualify him, the franchise would need to provide Wiercioch with an offer of $2.7 million.

Patrick Wiercioch (upper-body) skated with teammates on Tuesday and is on the team's three-game road trip.

Wiercioch won't return to the lineup this week however he is hopeful to play in the team's final two games. The 25 year-old has been out of the lineup since March 10. In 52 games this season he has only registered five assists

He has missed six of the Senators' last seven games. Wiercioch may have played in his last game with Ottawa, as he is slated for restricted free agency in the summer and he's not expected to be given a qualifying offer.
